View 2 RepliesI have to make a basic program that: Create a program with a simple interface that
1. Asks the user type his/her email address into a textbox.
2. When the user clicks the "Evaluate Email Address" button, one of two message boxes pops up: "That is a valid email address!" with an "Information" icon, or "That is an invalid email address!" and on a second line, "Please retype your email address.", with an "Exclamation" icon
3. To be considered valid, the email address must -include an "@" symbol, and -it must end in either ".com", ".net", or ".org" or ".edu" (I don't know how to check a string and test if its last four characters end with any of these and make it say not valid email address. I think I might have to use a case statement)
how to validation Domain and Email Address for sending email in visual basic 2010 i used Code Below

View 1 RepliesI've tried implementing a rather simple email validation function that seems return a false match even though the input is a valid email. I have searched for any issues with the existing regex but it seems to be correct.Even though the match returns a false value the program is stepping to the next validation level (which it shouldn't).Here is the email validation function.
Function EmailAddressChecker(ByVal emailAddress As String) As Boolean
Dim regExPattern As String = "^[A-Z0-9._%+-]+@[A-Z0-9.-]+.[A-Z]{2,4}$"
Dim emailAddressMatch As Match = Regex.Match(emailAddress, regExPattern)

I copied someone elses code and then changed it to suit my program.. however even when a valid email is entered is still says invalid email entry

Dim temp As String

I have been using a function to validate email addresses for awhile now. Yesterday i discovered that the code indicates that 2 different email addresses are invalid when in reality they are perfectly fine.
The code uses RegEx to determine if an email address is valid. I have tried to understand RegEx, but I can never seem to figure it out. Here is the
Private Sub btnCheckEmail_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnCheckEmail.Click
If ValidateEmailAddress(txtEmail.Text) = True Then
[Code]....
How can the RegEx be re-written to allow the local part (before the @ symbol) to be 1 character, and/or be a number? I understand the "a-z" part, but i don't understand what [w.-] means, or why the a-z is duplicated before the @ symbol.
I want to validate email in text box through key press event.my code is as follows

i wanna check if it's a hotmail email something like this : test@hotmail.com which hotmail.com is the domain i use this RegularExpressions to check if it's valid

Basically i am trying to make a form which is in essence a switchboard. Just some buttons to launch some executables. Here is my

View 1 RepliesI have a txt box that askes a user to enter his email address and I want to make sure the user enters a correctly formatted email.
The code I have so far is like this
If txtEmail.Text = "" Then
txtEmail.BackColor = Color.Pink
MessageBox.Show("Please Enter your Email")
Exit Sub
Else
txtEmail.BackColor = Color.White
End If
How I can modify this code to make it work and is regular expressions the same for all programming languages? Also for my mobile number text box I only want a user to enter a 10 digit number with only integer numbers.
The code I have so far is
If txtNumber.Text = "" Then
txtNumber.BackColor = Color.Pink
MessageBox.Show("Please Enter your Mobile")
Exit Sub
Else
txtNumber.BackColor = Color.White
End If

View 6 Repliesmy VB.Net desktop app writes to an Excel file. I need to set the style to a row. I can read a style of one row, but am unable to set the style in another.
View 2 RepliesMy Regex works, except if the email address entered has an underscore character (_) in it.
Because of my lack of experience with regular expressions, I'm not sure where in my pattern I'm supposed to add the offending character to allow it:
Dim pattern As String = "^[-a-zAZ0-9][-.a-zA-Z0-9]*@[-.a-zA-Z0-0]+(.[-.a-zA-Z0-0+)*." & _
"(com|edu|info|gov|int|mil|net|org|biz|name|museum|coop|aero|pro|tv|[a-zA-Z]{2})$"
He said he fixed it by adding the _ after the numeric check.
I see the A-Z0-9, but I'm not sure which is the numeric check...
would like to send me a pure oop based desktop application developed in vb.net 2008 and sql server 2005?
View 3 RepliesI am buidling an application that users can use to submit text data and attachments to email recipients. Certain fields, quite a few in fact from the textboxes in the app will be in the email body, and some in the subject line.This is how I am doing it right now, but I figured there has to be a better way. In VB it is one single line of code, not many like it is here. Ideally I would like to be able to better control the positioning in the message body.
mail.Body = String.Concat(Label1.Text, " ", TextBox1.Text, " ", Label2.Text, " ", TextBox3.Text, " ", Label5.Text, " ", DateTimePicker1.Text, " ", Label3.Text, " ", TextBox2.Text, " ", Label6.Text, " ", RichTextBox1.Text, " ", Label7, " ", RichTextBox2.Text)
I am installing an app I built in VB, and am getting the error "Application validation did not succeed. Unable to continue." I have successfully built and installed this app previously. What I think caused the issue is I attached the .mdf file I have referenced in my application to my SQL Server. I then detached the database in SQL Server, opened my VB app and re-built the app. When I tried to install the app, I received the error. Attached are the details of the error message.

Im planning to create a Remote Desktop Application and I'm having problem with viewing other computers monitor or screen.
Im not asking for the code on how to do it. and one more thing is it safe to use winsock in creating a client/server application?
Let's say 10 desktop shortcuts, all with different names/icons, point to and can start the same exe application from the same directory. Is there any means for the application to know the distinct name of the shortcut that was doubled_clicked. Also is there any means for a running application to know if it was started by command line, by a double_click on the exe, by a double_click on a shortcut that points to it, or by another process' call?
View 4 RepliesI am trying to use Setup project. Want my setup to create a desktop shortcut with my application.I donot understand how to do it. Clicked on User's desktop, I created Shortcut to User's desktop, changed the properties Target and Working Folder as 'Application Folder'But it does not connect with MyApplication.exe When I ran the setup and tested Desktop short cut, it took me to the folder where application was installed, instead of running the application.How to make the application run using this shortcut?
View 1 RepliesQuestion: I created an ASP.NET web application. Now it originally was meant for deployment on a webserver.That is working, so, so far so good.My question now is: Is it possible to deploy it as a desktop-application, too? That is to say the installer installs some kind of server, plus the web application, configures the server to run this application on a localhost URL, and then creates a link in the start menu/desktop, where it opens that url (website, the application) on localhost in a web browser?
I think it should be possible, though the server wouldn't be IIS, because this is a windows component which can't be separately installed. Is there anything like this already out there The nonplusultra would be that it only starts the server when you click on the shortcut.
I have an application that is written in VB.NET, using the System.Windows.Forms.Form as the front-end GUI. It runs perfectly on my Windows machine however recently there is a business requirement to convert this application to run as a web application so that people could view them in their blackberries when they go to the URL. Is there any quick way to perform such a conversion or I will have to translate the code line-by-line for such cases?
View 1 RepliesI'm working on one of my applications and I'm trying to find a way to use the "Go To Desktop" function that goes directly to the desktop without minimizing any window (This can be achieved by clicking on the Win + D buttons or on the desktop icon in the quick launch toolbar), but how can I activate it using vb? I thought about sending keys but I guess there is more offical ways to do it.
View 10 Repliesthe system is going to have two front-ends - one web application and one desktop application.The desktop application is going to be coded using VB.NET, and the web application in PHP. There's really no reason why the desktop application can't be replaced by a web application as well - except that one of the programmers seem to really want to code it in VB...However none of us have experience working with either of these pairs .
P.S. hosting service will be gotten from some provider and not be on the client's own server.
Atm im doing a project and need a box to pop up when a user enters an invalid value, such as text or a minus number.

i'm tying to send email in my application directly by the smtp server but the server doesn't allow me to do that.The application its used by everyone in the company, so i set the smtp client UseDefaultCredentials to True, but the server replies with this when i try to send an email:[code].....If i set the credentials by hand, the server sends the email. So my problem is how to make this work to everyone? I don't want to have one public/friend var all time in the application with the credentials of the current user?
