View 18 RepliesI was writing a program for creation of form to ticket reservation. The form creation and everything is done a runtime. The problem is that i wanted to include a validation process in which the program will check whether user has entered the data(name) before showing select airline list box There are 2 if conditions which i both want to validate and if both the IFs are validated then i want it to show the list box.I dont know how to do that. Below is the code snippet
Private Sub button_selectair(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)
If Me.Controls.Contains(t1) Then
If (t1.Text.Length <= 3) Then
MessageBox.Show("please enter a proper name")

View 1 RepliesI am installing an app I built in VB, and am getting the error "Application validation did not succeed. Unable to continue." I have successfully built and installed this app previously. What I think caused the issue is I attached the .mdf file I have referenced in my application to my SQL Server. I then detached the database in SQL Server, opened my VB app and re-built the app. When I tried to install the app, I received the error. Attached are the details of the error message.

When using WCF together with Enterprise Library 5.0's validation application block, is it possible to customize the error messages which are sent back to the client? I've added the ValidationBehaviour-attribute to my service contract and the FaultContract-attribute to the operation:

The service returns ValidationFault as it should, but instead of having the error message and tag which I've defined, it uses some generic values. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?
I have a solution with two projects. The main project connects to the second project via a reference, and the reference path is local to my machine. It looks like it references the .exe file.So when I publish the main project (ClickOnce), i get the following error:
Application validation did not succeed. Unable to continue. In the log file, under Error Details, it says
System.Deployment.Application.InvalidDeploymentException (RefDefValidation)
- Reference in the manifest does not match the identity of the download assembly Project2.exe
- Source: System.Deployment
How can I include this second project? Should I publish it, then reference the published files? What do i reference? The .application file?Is there a way to just include this second project, so when I do publish the main project, the second one just goes along with it?
I publish my project normally to a folder in my computer. When I run the setup the following message appears:
"application validation did not succeed. unable to continue"
I am using a SQL Server database in my project, I don't know if it has anything to do with that..
I'm doing a IPv6 simulator and now trying to add a IPv4 to IPv6 converter. But i don't have any clue how to add this converter into my vb codes.

I have a slight problem. I have created an application where I am using linklabels to refer to a website, this works with no problem at all, however the problem that I do have is I cant work out the command to refer to a file or document. The code to refer to a file on my PC is simple enough and works fine:

Is there any way to add a C# Web Form to an ASP.NET 4.0 Web Application that is written in VB.NET? I had an ASP.NET 2.0 WEB SITE that I recently converted to an ASP.NET 4.0 WEB APPLICATION. It was mostly written in VB.NET with a couple pages that had C# code behinds.
I've read the following article (the end section about mulitple languages):
[URL]
But it does not seem to help for the following two reasons
1) When I converted my site to an application, it didn't seem to add an APP_CODE folder at all
2) I'm not looking to just write a simple class, I actually want to be able to add a WEB FORM with a C# code behind
When I try to add a new item and I select which type of item I want to add, I am only given to option to add a VISUAL BASIC web form.
I have a workaround right now. If I need a new web form with a C# code behind, I take one of my old C# web forms and just copy and paste the form and C# code behind into the project and then rename it and change the class name as well. Then i make my changes and do what I need to do. It seems to work, but I was just wondering if there was an easier way.
You might wonder why want to put C# forms in my VB app. I wrote my app in VB (not well versed in C# but I can read it). I have a programmer working for me that is much more efficient with C#. I don't really have the budget to spend weeks/months getting her up to speed with VB
I am looking at adding in some bluetooth functionality to my vb.net application. I require it to couple with a specified mobile phone (that is found by the app) than to be able to retrieve contact information, phone calls (made and recevied) and images from the phone.
Can anyone tell me what my best approach will be for this? If there are any good third party solutions that will do it? If it is actually doable? Im thinking that it should because im basically mimic'ing what all the new fancy cars do with their bluetooth phone compatibility.
I'm following an article (here) and stuck on the following:"Once you have created this class and compiled it, to use it in an ASP.NET Web application, start by adding it to the Web application's References folder."
Ok, so do i now need to compile my vb class file into a .dll and reference it from the BIN folder? If so how do i compile the vb file? I'm running VS 2005 .net 2.0
I am working on adding multi-threading to my application. I have done two applications using multi-threading following a tutorial of sorts, and modifying the code to "get my feet wet."
This is the first time I am trying multi-threading within my own application, and I feel I should be beyond this type of problem, but after a 3 hour search on the forums, I can not find a solution, so I am posting this thread.

I am working on a inventory application and I have a question, I have created a table for each of the main categories that I will be using, now if I wanted to add sub categories would I create another table for the sub directory and set the type as a child for its corresponding category or would it be easier to keep the main categories and just add another column in each table for "sub category" so it uses the same table but I can just filter it out easier?
If it is a better option for creating parent and child tables, how would I go about listing them in a hierarchical treeview to show parent and child sub-categories in them.
I need to make an application that I'm working on seem bigger then it really is. Say it's actually 4 MB, but I want to make it 22 MB, what would be the easiest way to add size / fake the size of the app?

View 1 RepliesI've written a little application that uploads selected files to my ftp server. What I want to do now, is add that application to the windows right click context. For example, I've installed anti virus, if i right click on my desktop there is a there is a new item within the right click list which lets my right click on files and scans. What I want to know is, how to I add my application into the right click menu, how to get my application to respond when I click on the entry in the right click menu and any other thing anyone thinks will be useful. I have never done this before, and I have never been taught in class.

View 2 RepliesI took the following method to make a registry key in my setup project. When I run setup, it says Could not write value Run to the key. Verify that you have the sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel. "Below I have copied the code that I took from the forum After you have built your own application project, Right Click the "Solution" to "Add a New Project", of cource the project type is Setup and Deployment Project.
Add the "Project Outputs" into the setup project, here, it can be the your own application,Most of important step: Open the "Regstry" view of the setup project, then add new keys in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" according to the information I just mentioned. Below the key "Run", you can add a new string value. Then in the value's "Properties" view, enter "[TARGETDIR]YourApplicationName.exe" .Install your application using the msi file created by setup project, then restart your computer, you can see the result.
I have been building a Web Application (ASP.NET, .NET Framework 4, VB, visual studio 2010). To be very brief the application interacts with a database and performs several actions (Insert Delete Select etc..).I am using several Gridviews, ListBoxes etc and I am not happy with the presentation outcome and the functionality provided by asp.net. In simple words my application looks bad, outdated and unprofessional.I figured that using Windows Forms that will be incorporated to the ASP ap.I have created a Windows Form Control Library to use the dll created in my app as a user control. I found out that this is not supported in .NET Framework 4 (is this true? or am i doing something wrong?). Is there any way to make my application have the 'look and feel' of a windows application? Please note that it is has to be a web app and the clients should not have to download any other application to interact with the server.
