Adding Icons To A Desktop?

Feb 6, 2009

Is there a way in VB .Net to add specific icons to a desktop like "Computer", "Network",Recycle bin", and "User" files? I want to be ablse to use it for XP and Vista, but Vista as a main priority. In vista you can Right Click the desktop select "Properties", click "Change Desktop Items" in the left hand corner, and then select the icons you want. I thought that maybe there is a way to do it by calling that, or maybe a way to do it in the registry.

Asp.net - Adding C# Web Form To VB Web Application

Feb 18, 2011

Is there any way to add a C# Web Form to an ASP.NET 4.0 Web Application that is written in VB.NET? I had an ASP.NET 2.0 WEB SITE that I recently converted to an ASP.NET 4.0 WEB APPLICATION. It was mostly written in VB.NET with a couple pages that had C# code behinds.

I've read the following article (the end section about mulitple languages):

[URL]

But it does not seem to help for the following two reasons

1) When I converted my site to an application, it didn't seem to add an APP_CODE folder at all

2) I'm not looking to just write a simple class, I actually want to be able to add a WEB FORM with a C# code behind

When I try to add a new item and I select which type of item I want to add, I am only given to option to add a VISUAL BASIC web form.

I have a workaround right now. If I need a new web form with a C# code behind, I take one of my old C# web forms and just copy and paste the form and C# code behind into the project and then rename it and change the class name as well. Then i make my changes and do what I need to do. It seems to work, but I was just wondering if there was an easier way.

You might wonder why want to put C# forms in my VB app. I wrote my app in VB (not well versed in C# but I can read it). I have a programmer working for me that is much more efficient with C#. I don't really have the budget to spend weeks/months getting her up to speed with VB

Adding In Some Bluetooth Functionality To Application?

Sep 9, 2009

I am looking at adding in some bluetooth functionality to my vb.net application. I require it to couple with a specified mobile phone (that is found by the app) than to be able to retrieve contact information, phone calls (made and recevied) and images from the phone.

Can anyone tell me what my best approach will be for this? If there are any good third party solutions that will do it? If it is actually doable? Im thinking that it should because im basically mimic'ing what all the new fancy cars do with their bluetooth phone compatibility.

Adding Sub-categories To Database Application?

Apr 26, 2012

I am working on a inventory application and I have a question, I have created a table for each of the main categories that I will be using, now if I wanted to add sub categories would I create another table for the sub directory and set the type as a child for its corresponding category or would it be easier to keep the main categories and just add another column in each table for "sub category" so it uses the same table but I can just filter it out easier?

If it is a better option for creating parent and child tables, how would I go about listing them in a hierarchical treeview to show parent and child sub-categories in them.

Adding Entry To Registry For Startup Of Application?

Sep 22, 2010

I took the following method to make a registry key in my setup project. When I run setup, it says Could not write value Run to the key. Verify that you have the sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel. "Below I have copied the code that I took from the forum After you have built your own application project, Right Click the "Solution" to "Add a New Project", of cource the project type is Setup and Deployment Project.

Add the "Project Outputs" into the setup project, here, it can be the your own application,Most of important step: Open the "Regstry" view of the setup project, then add new keys in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" according to the information I just mentioned. Below the key "Run", you can add a new string value. Then in the value's "Properties" view, enter "[TARGETDIR]YourApplicationName.exe" .Install your application using the msi file created by setup project, then restart your computer, you can see the result.

Adding Windows Form Functionality On Web Application

Oct 27, 2011

I have been building a Web Application (ASP.NET, .NET Framework 4, VB, visual studio 2010). To be very brief the application interacts with a database and performs several actions (Insert Delete Select etc..).I am using several Gridviews, ListBoxes etc and I am not happy with the presentation outcome and the functionality provided by asp.net. In simple words my application looks bad, outdated and unprofessional.I figured that using Windows Forms that will be incorporated to the ASP ap.I have created a Windows Form Control Library to use the dll created in my app as a user control. I found out that this is not supported in .NET Framework 4 (is this true? or am i doing something wrong?). Is there any way to make my application have the 'look and feel' of a windows application? Please note that it is has to be a web app and the clients should not have to download any other application to interact with the server.
