how to add further items to a dropdown control on the ribbon.
So far I have been able to create a number of items manually and then afterwards change the label of these items using
Globals.Ribbons.Ribbon1.DropDown1.Items(i).Label
Furthermore I found that some recommend using this to add further items to the dropdown control. But I am having a hard time trying to understand how to use it.
Is there a way in VB .Net to add specific icons to a desktop like "Computer", "Network",Recycle bin", and "User" files? I want to be ablse to use it for XP and Vista, but Vista as a main priority. In vista you can Right Click the desktop select "Properties", click "Change Desktop Items" in the left hand corner, and then select the icons you want. I thought that maybe there is a way to do it by calling that, or maybe a way to do it in the registry.
I am trying to add to my application some icons via the code. When i run my executable from debug / release compilation folder it works good. But when I move my executable files to other folders it tells me that it doesn't find the icon files.Any idea how/where I should tell the compiler to add those files to my final executable version ,that they will be visible.[code]
know how to insert standard items to a menu strip. And I wonder how I can get access to those standard icons like the ones that are used for New, Open and Save? I know how to place an image on an existing menu command. For instance, how can I place the generic New icon on Export or Exit (without using copy & paste)?
I'm migrating VB6 application to VB.NET 2008In the old app I have a toolbar with icons which are stored in an imageList. Now I can't find how to link the imageList to toolbar (which is now called "ToolStrip"). It's so confusing.
I am adding a several controls to a groupbox dynamically, but I can only see one of them. I am changing the location for each one just a little so so they should all be visible. When I count the rows in "dtOptionGroupOption it returns the correct #.
'Starting location for Options. Dim intOptionLocationX As Integer = 0 Dim intOptionLocationY As Integer = 10
After adding a string to the program from the resources the build always fails, and removing the string and the code to load the string does not solve the problem, as the build still fails. We've been using multiple versions of the program since this started happening with the most updated one, and adding the string is what started the failure in building even though we added other elements (like an exit button) and other forms without it failing. With the one that started with the build failures we've tried it on all types of computers and it does not manage to build on any of them, even one's with a new installation of Visual Basic Express 2010.
The exact line added that apparently makes the build fail is:
And the string added to the Resources isn't anything unusal compared ot the rest we have but it is this is:
The Stegmaier Brewery business began in 1857 when Charles Stegmaier first set up a shop. Since then the Stegmaier business has grown greatly. The size of their operation has grown from the original shop to the large building pictured to the left (opened in 1863 and purchased from Stegmaier in 1978). The Stegmaier Brewery Company was purchased in 1974 by Lion, Inc. and Stegmaier Beer is still produced today by Lion, Inc. and remains a popular choice among consumers.
how to place a visible image in the splitcontainer so it would be obvious for users to see that the area is movable. Like the split container in SplitContainer Class(System.Windows.Forms) which has the gray with
TortoiseSVN and Dropbox both have Windows shell extensions that make file icons within Windows Explorer show a small icon beside the main one, showing the file's status - has it been synced, etc How can I make my application show icons beside files like that using the Windows API? Or is there some file attribute to do that?
I've got a panel - that's in a group box. All of this - with lots of other textboxes on labels - is in another panel (the big panel).I make the big panel visible and not visible based on selections made by the user. This small panel - that's in the group box. I cannot seem to make it appear.Even if I leave it VISIBLE at design time - the objects in it will not appear. Is there some kind of nesting problem that I'm not aware of!
I have five menu items that i have created as a user control and placed on the master page. Now i want one of the menu items to be visible only for particular user role and not visible for others. Here is what I did. Its not working though.
I'm having an odd problem when making a form visible and not visible and it not continuing to function. Here is what I have happening. I have a main form (frmMain) that is an MDIParent. On this form I have a menu to open a second form (frmCalculate) and populate a listview from Items in the database.
As I click or select items in the listview on frmCalculate the tag is read and data is pulled based on the id stored in that tag and fills in various fields on the form. This works great. However, I also have a context menu attached to the listview that allows me to perform a "what if" scenerio on the items I am calculating. When I select this menu, I hide the frmCalculate and open the frmWhatIf form where I can mess around with values on the item I had hilighted in the listview on frmCalculate. Nothing is pulled from or written back to the database here, all the information is filled in from fields on frmCalculate. It just allows me to look at rising costs and how they will affect my margins.... anyway.
If I then close frmWhatIf, it brings my frmCalculate back by setting its visible propery to true (never closed frmCalculate, just hid it). At this point if I click an item in the listview I get an exception for a null reference. IF however I never hide frmCalculate, I can open and close frmWhatIF without ever having an issue. Why do I lose the functionality to select items just by hiding and unhiding the form? As a test I added two menus to the toolbar on frmMain one called hide and one called show. I then opened frmCalculate with original menu item to populate the listview and selected a few items to test that it was working and then using the hide menu I made the form invisible and the show button to bring it back. This yielded the same exception so without even opening frmWhatIf the problem still occurs.
I have placed several PictureBox Images of different colored dots(which represent lights) on an image of a Christmas Tree. I can make the lights randomly flash using a randomGenerator and a Select case statement. However, the code is very long. There are 67 lights on this tree and the code is 71 pages long. There has to be an easier way to do this. So far I have tried the following with two images of lights just to see if it would work and it does not work:
I want to develop a project in vb and I want to insert a ribbon. How can I do it? I should create it using classes or I can find something like an Add-On or something like when you will create for the first time graphics or you want to create for the firsttime an export to excel button?
I just installed Microsoft Ribbon for WPF 2010 on 2 different windows 7 boxes. If I make a .net 3.5 project it works fine but a .net 4.0 it does not.I can load the sample ribbon application and it works but when I drag the ribbon controls over they just make a transparent box. I notice it does not make the XAML correct. Here is the code, 4.0 on top then 3.5 below it. Is there some setting or option I need to change?
I have an application that has multiple UI layouts, sometimes on tabs, sometimes the occasional separate form.I recently bought a pack of UI elements, and I'd like to use a ribbon control as the main navigation. For the most part I want the tabs on the ribbon to function like your everyday tabcontrol. The problem is that the ribbon tabs don't each have their own page for you to lay out your controls like the normal tabcontrol does.So right now I have the ribbon control at the top of an MDI form, and instead of using multiple tab pages I have many borderless forms, and when I click on a tab of the ribbon, I maximize the appropriate form and bring it to the front. This creates the illusion of tab pages by eliminating the control boxes of the child forms.
I have searched all over the net and found a lot of resources but seems like they are pretty high level for me to understand. I want to use Ribbon in place of tabcontrol. Can anyone here just tell me how to achieve it with an example. if you are referring to somewhere and if it need to add some dll or class do tell me how to do that.
I was wondering if it is possible to use the WPF Ribbon in windows forms(they added it in .net 4). I know about the ElementHost Control which works fine for created controls, but it doesn't seem to be able to host default controls, I could create a wpf control and put the ribbon in, but that seems like a terrible hack.(And lots of work since there are lots of controls related to the ribbon)
RibbonGroupsPanel RegisterStarLayoutProvider and UnregisterStarLayoutProvider accepts only IProvideStarLayoutInfo instances. Parametername: starLayoutInfoProvider
I'm creating an Microsoft Office 2010 add-in ribbon with a bunch of controls on it. I am able to add things like buttons, TextBoxes, and Labels. :-) I am not, however, able to add the one control I need, which is a DateTimePicker.
I have been searchingall day to find out it, but did not find the best way, all but I found one forvb. That framework can not beused on 4, but can be used in the framework 3.5 and below.
