Adding Standard Menu Icons?

Jan 10, 2012

know how to insert standard items to a menu strip. And I wonder how I can get access to those standard icons like the ones that are used for New, Open and Save? I know how to place an image on an existing menu command. For instance, how can I place the generic New icon on Export or Exit (without using copy & paste)?

Use Standard Windows Icons?

Aug 20, 2009

In VS.Net 2008, if you choose a new form with the Explorer template, the form is preloaded with a menu strip, and all the items have the familar save, print, open, etc, icons/bitmaps. I would like to use these icons in other forms, but the form does not appear to reveal the location of these icons or where they came from. Does anyone know where they are? If I find them and point to them, can I be assured that these icons are in the same place on any computer (or do I need to embed them in the exe)?

Correct Way To Make A Standard Menu

Jan 14, 2010

I've just started out fiddling with WPF in Expression Blend and now I'm trying to design a "normal Windows GUI" interface with a menu at the very top and some other stuff which takes up the rest of the window.Which panel do I use to make the menu always stay at the very top, take up only as much height as it needs to fit the menu items and fill the entire width of the window, in such a way that I can just fill in other panels and what-not in the rest of the window?

Add Custom Options To Standard Context Menu Or Use Standard Options In Custom Context Menu

Dec 16, 2010

I have a text box field for which I want to use a couple of custom commands accessible via a context menu. I can add my custom context menu to my text box, but then I lose the standard windows ones (i.e. Undo, copy, paste, etc).

What I really want is a context menu with both my custom options and the standard windows options. I want that to take place only within my application (i.e. not like a shell extension).

Icons And Control Boxes After Merging Menu And Maximized Form?

Apr 7, 2010

When I open a form in my application and I maximize it, the Icon and the ControlBox are merged in the menu of the MDI parent where I open the form in. That is perfectly normal.

But when I close that form and open an other and also maximize it, I get two icons and two control boxes in my menu. When I close that form and open an other again and maximize it on it's turn, I get 3 icons and 3 control boxes in my menu. When I close the maximized form shouldn't the icon and the controlboxes dissapear?

Adding Icons To A Desktop?

Feb 6, 2009

Is there a way in VB .Net to add specific icons to a desktop like "Computer", "Network",Recycle bin", and "User" files? I want to be ablse to use it for XP and Vista, but Vista as a main priority. In vista you can Right Click the desktop select "Properties", click "Change Desktop Items" in the left hand corner, and then select the icons you want. I thought that maybe there is a way to do it by calling that, or maybe a way to do it in the registry.

C# - Standard Windows Menu Bars In Windows Forms?

May 6, 2010

I noticed that adding a MenuStrip (from the Toolbox) to my form design doesn't yield a menu bar like many native Windows applications. Instead I get a menu bar like Visual Studio's own. None of the style settings for MenuStrip appear to mimic the much more common native menu bar.Is there a way to add a menu bar to my Windows Forms application that looks the same as the one you see in Notepad, Task Manager and others? (Preferably with the designer, but I wouldn't mind adding it programmatically either.)

Get The Standard BackColor Of A Standard TabPage?

Mar 11, 2009

I am trying to add a TabPage containing a UserControl to a TabControl at runtime, because the number of TabPages to add are determined at runtime.

The UserControl (objDataInfo) is just two Textboxes, two labels and two Radiobuttons, nothing too exciting...

The TextBoxes have their Anchor properties set to Left, Up, Right so they scale with the width of the usercontrol.

The TabPages are added in the constructor of the form, which takes the number of tabpages to create (n) as an argument:

vb.net
Dim cList As List(Of objDataInfo)
Public Sub New(ByVal n As Integer)

[Code]....

So... How can I get the standard BackColor of a standard TabPage?

(I tried leaving out the usercontrol all-together, but the TabPage still has a gray background...)

Adding Menu Strip With Items To Form

Jun 18, 2012

1: I have to create an application that will dynamically add a menu strip with menu items to a form (i.e., NOT dragged and dropped onto the form) in Visual Basic. The menu strip should be created in the Form_Load event handler. I have to use a TextBox for user input. If the user enters information into the TextBox and clicks on the Add Button, the text should be added to a ComboBox control.

A Menu should then be created that must be added to the menu strip dynamically. There should be a second TextBox that will be used to add a new menu item to the menu that is currently selected in the ComboBox. When a menu item is selected, it must simply display a MessageBox with the items name (For example, adding a menu item called View would display a MessageBox with the message "View").

2: I have to create a quiz machine program in in Visual Basic with the following:
A menu strip that must be created programmatically (ie NOT dragged and dropped onto the form). There should be an exit option added to the menu strip that must exit the application.
A structure must be created to encapsulate all the questions and suggested answers. The structure must contain:
Question String
Answers Collection
Correct Answer String

When the form loads, 5 questions must be created in code using these structures. These 5 structures will then serve as the quiz. The user must be shown the first question, and have the option of browsing forwards and backwards through the quiz. The program should store saved answers to select the radio button when users cycle through. This can be done by any means possible, for example an ArrayList or SortedList.

I have to ensure that the suggested answers are randomized the first time the form loads only. Once the user has selected an answer for every question, the Submit button should be enabled. When the user clicks this button, the program must then evaluate the quiz and compare the users selected answers against the correct answer. A valid message must then be displayed via a MessageBox indicating the user's score.
