How do I remove the area in a dropdown menu where the menu item icons are typically displayed?
I just need to remove the grey area in this particular dropdown, other dropdowns of menu items in the same menu bar need to retain this area because they do have icons.
I have my program set up to read the contents of a Directory, and then populate a drop down menu with the names of the files in the directory. (I am using the MenuStrip). Inside my program, it is also set up to create a new file in that directory, and I wish to add this item to the dropdown menu upon creation. The list is entirely created and populated from the code, and the contents of the list depend entirely on what's in the directory.
I have tried using MenuStrip.Items.Remove(menuItem1). Now, when this command gets executed, it does remove the top level Menu, however when I go to repopulate the menu, I end up with duplicates of my files listed in the drop down. I am stuck with how to clear these out as well?
i have been searching for 2 days on how to color the black grey area on a tabcontrol, i found a few examples but they never worked for me does anyone know how to color this area?Btw this is a webbrowser project
Edit: Ohh and does anyone know how to make a toolstrip combobox automatically resize when the user changes the form size?
I am using the following code to place a rectangle around a form / form control, however what I want to do is make my screen grey and only the form / form control area be displayed in colour.
Code:
I have googled for ages trying to find something on this, but with no luck.
To illistrate this better they are using the same functionality in snagit 10, please see below link to a page that has a video link showing this (23 sec into video)[url]
I have three dropdowns, which are all loaded in the same function. How do I grey out dropdown 2 & 3? I want them to activate if a certain choice is made on dropdown 1.
I'm trying to write a very basic program in VS 2008 (VB.NET 2.0) that will help me to quickly set up new servers. One of the things I want the program to do is hide the "Volume" and "Network" system icons. I cannot find where that setting is or a way to programmically change it.
I've created an ownerdraw ComboBox (used as DropDownList only) in Visual Basic .NET 2010. I inherited ComboBox and set DrawMode to OwnerDrawVariable. The control itself and the dropdown items are drawn with Paint and DrawItem.
The control works fine so far, but there is one thing i was unable to change: When i click on the combobox to open the dropdown area, this new area has a very bright border color (nearly white) which I want to change to black. I've uploaded an image of the current control and how I want it to look like:
Since we have to resize the combo box dropdown area based on the combo box item length, used the drawstring() to add items to combo based on the item length. This gave us the below issue: On moving the cursor on the drop down area the font color and the background color are back hence the text is not readable (i.e. the whole item becomes black).
Below piece of code is used to achieve this, Private Sub cboClient_DrawItem(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DrawItemEventArgs) [Code] .....
We tried changing font color and the dropdown area backcolor on selecting a particular item. How to make the text readable (i.e. the font color should change while if we scroll on the item).
I have currently changed the color of background Menustrip using this code
[Code]...
How do i change the Hover color of menu items and dropdown menu items to orange including the background color which holds icons in menustrip dropdown.....
know how to insert standard items to a menu strip. And I wonder how I can get access to those standard icons like the ones that are used for New, Open and Save? I know how to place an image on an existing menu command. For instance, how can I place the generic New icon on Export or Exit (without using copy & paste)?
I've read many articles on how to create transparent labels but it seems to me that my particular case is not covered. Very simply I have a label placed in the upper right part of the form, which in fact is part of the menu strip. The label displays some info to the user but I wish it were transparent. I've tried various methods including lblAct.Parent = mnuMain '(or Me) lblAct.BackColor = Color.Transparent lblAct.BringToFront() But cant get it to work. How I can make that label in that position transparent?
I'm trying to make a -what i thought would be simple app.My intention was to build program that:1) i'd provide a grayscale image2) the program would count the black pixels the grey pixels the more grey pixels etc. (the hue) and the white3) would make the percentage sum of all pixels, that is: 300.000 black pixels (rgb 0 0 0) etc. given that 0 is the black, 100 the white. e.g a simple grayscale image is 55.2 white
This was my way and i don't think that is useful:
First of a button to convert the image to greyscale:
Dim bm as new Bitmap(source.Width,source.Height)
Dim x
Dim y
[CODE]...
Secondly, -and that's the stupid way- i did -or better i wanted to do- this: i put the code to dynamically create labels, each label having the colour of a pixel as background colour and as text the colour converted to rgb
The third step which i intended to do (i couldn't get pas two) was to sum up the labels etc.
I'm trying to make a user control similar to the Windows Vista/7 breadcrumb bar used in windows explorer. However, when I show the drop down menu for a breadcrumb with many sub items, I get a very long list that sometimes exceeds the screen size. In the Windows Vista/7 example however, there are a maximum of 18 items displayed at a time and a scrollbar appears at the right when the number of sub items exceeds this number (18).
For my own personal use, I'd like to code an app that disables the icon on the upper left of the window titlebars and in the taskbar of ms windows. This is how it should look when it's done: [URL] (this little autohotkey script is broken in win 7). Is this is feasable in vb? If yes, how do I communicate with the win os? Maybe get a list of active windows and redraw them and the taskbar after replacing their icon by a blank one in memory?
When I open a form in my application and I maximize it, the Icon and the ControlBox are merged in the menu of the MDI parent where I open the form in. That is perfectly normal.
But when I close that form and open an other and also maximize it, I get two icons and two control boxes in my menu. When I close that form and open an other again and maximize it on it's turn, I get 3 icons and 3 control boxes in my menu. When I close the maximized form shouldn't the icon and the controlboxes dissapear?
I have created user control for menu bar and loading in Master page. User control has Link buttons. Now I want create drop down menu for one of Link buttons. I dont know, how to do that? Is there any other control that supports?
I am trying to build a program that has a Dropdown menu (Combobox) where you select between a list of items like
xbox ps2 ps3 wii
then once you select one of the options the program will bring you to a new window (In the same window) with a new box that has a list depending on which word you chose earlier. As an example.
If you chose xbox on the first window it will bring you to a window with a new list like
fighting game 2009 fighting game 2010 fighting game 2011
then if you select fighting game 2011 you would get another window that showed a list that had a list of characters from that game.
Guy One Funny Hat Guy Big Nose Guy Dead Guy Beast Thing Funny Turtle Thing
Then in the new window you get a selection of options for the character you selected.
Special Skills Combo Moves Unlockable Content
Then if you select one of those you get a new window that has the lists. for example.
If you chose Special Skills show the list of special skills like the following.
Uppercut: Down + Y Face Smasher: Back, Forward, B
and maybe beside the list of moves it could display an image of a Screen shot that shows the move (Or not if it is too complicated).
is it possible to have a drop down menu from a button, somewhat similar to windows right click on a file, except, click/double click a button. if you do answer, can you provide a sample code, let's say, option1 (on the drop down menu) get's text to change to bold, option 2 to italic, and so on..
I decided to make a small app that runs another app with arguments. I think the best way to do it was selecting one option from a dropdown menu and using this option as an argument to run the app.
The clean part I did: Public Class LanguageSelectDialog Private Sub LanguageSelectDialog_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load End Sub
[Code]....
Since I'm just trying out, I've made an blank app just for testing purposes. What I need to do in order to pass the selected option as argument? I'm using VisualStudio 2010.
My latest project is to write an app that has a drop-down menu where I can choose different office locations. Once a choice is made I want a handful of different buttons which would vary between location choice. When a button is clicked it will install a printer. I've got the button and install part down but don't know where to start with the dropdown and showing different options upon choice.
I have two drop down boxes in my program. When you select an item from the first drop down, it populates select-able items in the second. When I select something in the second and then change the selection in the first one, the values remain in the second. How do I "reset" the second drop down when the first is changed?
I would like to populate a drop down list using values from the database. I would like to know how I can add to the dropdown list both the display member and value member straight all from the database
Display Name: Account_Name Member Value: Account_ID
I'm trying to assign a link to a VBScript into a context menu in the Contents area of File Explorer. What I want is to be able to right-click in the white-space there and see my program listed in the context specific menu but I don't want it showing when users right-click on any of the folders in either the folders area or the contents area.
