Email Generated Using System.Net.Mail.MailMessage Reformatted On Forward?
Nov 18, 2011
I had a requirement to gloss up an email generated from bespoke system using 'mailto' to be glossed up. I don't believe I can produce HTML message using mailto so I decided to generate the mail using System.net.Mail.mailMessage. However, as the client wants to add to the email prior to sending it on I need to send it to the client's own email, allow them to edit using their email editor and they would then forward it to the target recipientUnfortunately, the tables on forwarding are reformatted.
I generate emails from my website to deliver order notifications to my customers. Some of these emails are treated as spam by spam filters. I've used MailingCheck to examine the emails and one of the problems contributing to it being identified as spam is:PRIORITY_NO-NAME Message has priority but no user agent nameIs there anyway within asp.net that I can resolve this problem? Presumably by somehow setting th
I'm trying to update some older software which uses the now-declared-obsolete System.Web.Mail classes.Unfortunately, I don't really know a heck of a lot about email, so I'm looking for advice.
Here is the fragment of code I'm looking at revising:
[Code]...
From what I can tell, this should be configuring some kind of sending option. I can kind of work out what's going on, but I don't know how I should go about re-implementing it.It's looking like the place to be putting this stuff is now in the System.Net.Mail.SmtpClient.Credentials class, but the information in there doesn't seem to bear any resemblance to what I have here.I'm almost certain I'm making some obvious error, here, but I can't see it. Can someone tell me what I should be doing?
I am trying to use System.Web.Mail (using this example url...) to send email bit the Import is failing. The Imports knows of System.Web but there is no .Email.
I get the following error:Application-defined or object-defined error. From what I can understand, it's when I attempt to attach a file to the email, I get that error. What I noticed is that it's because the file is in use.Is there anyway to attach the file anyway? My users are simply not closing their files after saving, right now I'm using computer manager to kick them out. The process is for them to save a file on a server through a share and then I pick that up and send it. Works fine as long as they close the file after save.
Currently, to avoid errors from being thrown up due to invalid email addresses, I do the following:
Dim mailAddress As MailAddress Try mailAddress = New MailAddress("testing@invalid@email.com") Catch ex As Exception 'Invalid email End Try
However, rather than depending on Try..Catch, is there a way of validating that the email address will be 100% valid for the MailAddress type?I know there a plenty of regex functions out there for validating emails, but I'm looking for the function which the MailAddress type uses to validate its addresses.
I've implemented with Visual Basic 10 an application for Net Framework 4 with functionality to send files via e-mail using System.Net.Mail. It works well except when it comes to sending an XML file whose name contains accents. In the latter case the UTF-8 name is not correct, so Widows Mail Life presents him with name consisting of a set of meaningless characters. Furthermore, the content has lost the format of lines and spaces, presented part of MIME type information in the header, so that it is unreadable XML readers. However, with a name without accents is sent successfully.[code]....
.From = New MailAddress("Me@MySite.com", "Big Mike")This does not;
Dim AddressFrom As String = "Me@MySite.com" Dim FromDisplayName As String = "Big Mike" .From = New MailAddress(AddressFrom , FromDisplayName)
I receive the error; The specified string is not in the form required for an e-mail address.I would REALLY like to use variables here so that I can read these two pieces of data from My.Settings. I've been searching for the answer for hours and I'm stumped.
I have a piece of code which sends email with an attachment from my application. The code uses MAPI to send the email. It opens up a new email message so the user can add to the email message, and then the user clicks send. The code works fine. However there is one small problem. The email that the code opens, is always in Microsoft Outlook. Sometimes the application's user has Outlook Express set up as the default client, but my application always opens the new email message in Microsoft Outlook. (Outlook 2003. In the one user's machine that has Outlook 2007, everything works fine and the email opens up in Outlook Express.)As I searched for a solution, I saw this problem posed many times in various places on the Internet, with no solution (or none that worked). I did try several suggestions which involved creating registry settings and registering some dlls.
I was told that my program was not issuing a MAIL/EXPN/VRFY/ETRN when sending an email. Anyone know what this means and how I do it? I am sending an email with SmtpClient and I have no problems with other clients.
I am trying to send email messages from a Windows based Visual Basic application. I am using Visual Studio 2008 and .NET 3.5. The IP address in the config file is correct. But this gives an error message: Failure sending mail.
Code:
Dim Mail As MailMessage Dim MailClient As SmtpClient MailBody = "Test email"
I need to be able to forward all incoming mail to another email address. The email address I need to forward to will always be the same. I can forward any mail message manually however using the rules will not work. I therefore need another method via a macro or something.
I'm having trouble coding some new items into a program of mine. The program loops through you Inbox looking for emails that are UNREAD and have a certain subject line. The subject line in this case, is going to search for: "FAX TO: ###########" (actually, it just searches for FAX TO). Next step, I need the selected email to be FORWARDED to the fax number in the subject line - including attachments. In my code - I've already got the message selected - but I can't figure out how to programmatically forward it? I need explicit code help with the following:
1) Check to make sure there are 10 digits in the original subject line. If not - bail out and ignore that message.
2) Trim the subject line and save the phone number to a string
3) Forward the message (plus attachments) to the [URL]
I'm assuming I'll need to create a new Outlook.MailItem, but I'm not sure if I need to. Is there just some code I'm missing so I don't have to COPY the contents of the current MailItem to a new one.
Using system.net.mailmessage I send emails to three people, myself included, once I run an import on a file. I save the email addresses in my app.config file and then add them to the mailmessage like this:[code]Now I need to BCC two people. What's the best way to accomplish this? should I add another mailaddress or can I add them to a comma seperated list. does .net 2008 use , or ; as delimiters.
I am teaching myself vb.net and wanted to change this code to have an embedded mail.boby from a text file instead of the file attachment. Code spippet below and where I need help is mail.Body = ("tracertALL.txt") that just puts the name of the file NOT the contents of the file. This code is a CMDWrapper that runs a batch file and I want the contents of a trace route that is pipe to a file >> tracertALL.txt .
I'm writing a macro in Excel to connect to a button on an MS Excel 2007spreadsheet. When clicked the button copies some data from the file and uses the data to create a new .txt file. Since the macro is creating the file I can control the file name and storage location. Once created I want to e-mail the text file to a standard e-mail address.
ActiveWorkbook.EnvelopeVisible = True With ActiveSheet.MailEnvelope .Introduction = Range("T22")
I am tring to send e-mail used VB 2008. Below is my code. The error message I am getting is "5 Failure sending mail at System.Net.mail.client.send(MailMessage message).I have two questions. 1.) What am I doing wrong? & 2.) Is there a way the get a more description error message.
message As New System.Net.Mail.MailMessage Dim mySmtpsvr[code].....
I want to make a program that tells you if you can login to an email account or not by entering their username and password into Windows Live.
It would connect to the Hotmail server and see if the user/pass combination is correct. If it can log in, it would display a label that the account is valid, if not it would say that the account is not valid.
Ok here's the totally incorrect code for logging in. I kind of borrowed it from sending an email:
Dim MyMailMessage As New MailMessage MyMailMessage. From = New MailAddress(TextBox1.Text) MyMailMessage.To.Add(TextBox1.Text)
I was using the following code in order to send e-mails to my company's intranet accounts from a VB.NET 2003 aplication. However this code was marked as no longer valid when I migrated the application after installing Visual Studio 2005.modifying this code in order for my application to compile succesfully? Dim email As New System.Web.Mail.MailMessage
I have windows Application from where I am sending the mail using Email template images. But on different SMTP server it show different result . It attached the template images as an attachment.I am using following method as mention in the link to send email template [URL]..
I have an sql database with client email addresses.I need to send out reminders at certain dates that vary per client. Is there a way for me to draw only the clients that need to receive the reminders out of the database and then send an email to each one of them? From what I have found so far, it looks like I can set up the smtp fairly easily.I just don't know how to get the client's that I need and then cycle through each one.
I have written a program using Visual Studio 8 that simulates engine balancing. To simualte the forces I have used teechart, and have also programmed a genetic algorithm to optimise the system. However, I have just reformatted my computer, and now I cant get the program to run. I can access the code (in Form1.vb) and there are no problems, but 2 errors, and 5 warnings exist in Form1.Designer.vb.
The errors codes are: 'Type AxMSFlexGridlib.AxMSFlexGrid is not defined' 'Type AxMSFlexGridlib.AxMSFlexGrid is not defined'
Every time when I try to send emails to external Email ids using SMTPClient, it is failing (not sending and no error message). However, when I try to send Emails to my internal staff, it is working fine. I cant find the reason why it is not sending to External Contacts. All of these external contacts have been added in the Exchange serber 2010 Mail contacts.[code]...
