I am trying to "behind the scenes" log myself into a website, from the VB code behind my ASP.NET website. But I am dumbfounded as to how to do this.

I created a SQL DB named MainDB.mdf and a small VB 2010 application with some forms and datasets.Everything was working OK until i got a new computer and re-installed Visual Studio 2010 and SQL server 2010 on it. I copied my DB from the old to the new computer and also copied by VB 2010 project to it. I used Windows Authentication to connect to the DB in the old computer and also in the new one, i am using different Windows user account names though.
I was able to connect to the DB in the new computer in the Server Explorer section, i created a new connection string to the DB and i can seed there is data in the tables. When i run my VB 2010 application created in the old computer get error:
"Cannot open database "MainDB" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'D630Admin'."
I need to get rid of that error and be able to add/mod/del data from my DB using my VB application as i used to.
I have the lines above to login by database. However, I really don't know why always give me the error: "Incorrect fields". I'm using Visual Basic Express 2010 and SQL Express 2008 in Windows XP. At first I couldn't add a datasource (the .mdf file for the database) because of a "Operating system error 32" which I seemed to have resolved by giving myself full permissions for .mdf file (by right clicking on the file and going into properties and then Security) and restarting the SQL SERVER (SQLEXPRESS) service. The dataset for the database is in my solution explorer but when I right click on a table adapter to add a query and attempt to open up the query builder, I get the error in the title above.
I have used the code from the link below to create a basic login page in front of the Microsoft Live Single Sing On.[url] I managed to combine the two together(LiveSSO w/Forms Authentication) turning off the Integrated Authentication in IIS from the SSO setup.All works as expected if the user successfully authenticates with AD. THE PROBLEM that I am having is that when the user failes to authenticate it only returns: "Error authenticating user. Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password". This message appears also when the user is set to change the password at next logon. What I want it to do is to read the error code of exactly why it failed so I can setup a redirect to a password reset page (i.e. if error is "User flag is set to change pswd" etc.etc.)From the page linked above you can see the VB code of LdapAuthentication.vb which does the trick of authenticating the accounts or returning the error message if the login fails. The part that returns the "Error authenticating user. Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password." Is handled by this subroutine:

I'm trying to build my first program and I've run into a few problems with SQL. I have a database with customers and employees (among other things) and I'm trying to set up a basic login screen. Users log in with their EmployeeID (primary key) This part deals with logging in for the first time. It checks the database for a user with that ID and grabs the password. If the password is not empty / null, it shows a message box and stops there. If the password is empty/null it is meant to confirm and then update the new password. This is where my understanding ends. Debugging shows the error is definitely in the SQL update, but I can't see any errors...

After roughly 250 iterations of about 5-6 WebRequest per iteration, the app hangs and starts hitting the WebException "The remote name could not be resolved: 'hostnamehere' ". WebPages also don't load through my browser when this happens, I have to close the app for my internet to work again. This app is multithreaded and I was testing with 100 threads (in a threadpool, MaxThreadCount set to 20, addressof the sub which performs the WebRequests). A test with 20 threads yielded identical results - Same WebException also right around 250 iterations processing the same sub. I have tried setting the ConnectionLimit of the request to the thread count with no luck.

Now I send a httwebrequest from my program that includes the cookie authentication details in the request header and get results for say ?param=sports. I would like to search an online (internet) database and import the result in my own Windows program. As I understand from reading and searching I first have to do a get from the default (search) page to get the cookies for instance and then do a post providing the filled input fields and adding the previously collected cookies. So far getting the information seems to work but submitting the data back to get the actual search result doesn't seem to work.
