the error fails when it trying to read this [code]...
Is there is a connection between the Datareader and in initializing the transaction?
I have a problem with my project. here is the problem:
My code for login is as follows:

I get the following message "There is already an open DataReader associated with this Command which must be closed first." Is the insert statement the most effiecient way to write to the table row by row?

What will happen to the datareader when the Connection is closed ( Conn.close)
Will the Cursor that is used by the datareader be freed ? or will it stay open ?
If the cursor that is used by the datareader is still open , when will it be automatically closed ? or should i just closed it manually ?
Will it cause the dreaded "ORA-01000: maximum open cursors exceeded" ?

1. other parts of application are targeting other SQL server...just this adapter is updating only one row(table has two columns, some id and last time any of users changed something.
This reader is done in the form load event and is the very first thing done so I don't understand why it's telling me there is an open DataReader. why is the datareader closed? I had to change this from a stored procedure to dynamic because our IT guy was encountering trouble changing the sp permissions.. so there's definitely a time factor

The question boils down to this: Why is the error being thrown when the logout sub calls validate_session?

I am making great strides in reporting the errors, skipping the offending files and continuing the import process. However I am having problems with XmlExceptions. I am finding some of the reasons why, missing tags etc, but those aren't really my concern. I just want to report the issue and continue. I am thinking about some kind of check for a valid xml file but fear that that might not catch it all. For example I had a image tag in one of the files that was missing an alt="" attribute and I am not sure if that would invalidate the entire XML file.What would be the best way to trap and deal with the exception with out causing interuption to the program?

I have a windows service I created that checks for data to post to an off site webservice over SSL. The service checks every 10 seconds for data to send, if there is data it opens a connection to the remote webservice, and closes the connection after 120 seconds (still checking for data to send during this time). I have an error that is during the query to a database ExecuteReader 'phase' of my program, i am assigning an .OleDbDataReader to a variable RetVal and then, i am giving this RetVal = Query.ExecuteReader, and then in the while the query is being read loop(While RetVal.Read) i am getting an error in runtime that is "Invalid attempt to call Read when reader is closed."
