VS 2008 Enumerated Controls An Array Of Panels?
Aug 13, 2009I'm working on an menu program right now which has 20 panels used to display bmps that can be clicked on to select things. These panels are simply named something like pnl01, pnl02, etc. to pnl20. I'd like to make them into an array, like pnl(0) through pnl(19), so i can change the bmp on different panels like this:

pnl(x).backgroundimage = image.fromfile(file)
i thought this had something to do with enumerated controls but after some searching i couldn't figure out if i was looking for the right thing.

Mar 11, 2010I am working with tab controls (tab1, tab2, etc) I want to more than one panel in tab1 and switch between them using a button. My problem is working with more than one panel in tab1. This is an educational program i am working on for schools in the Dominican Republic.

May 8, 2012I'm trying to make custom ListBox with some graphics. Base is ItemCollection - each item contains Panel, 2x label and 2x picturebox. What each panel have to do:
- Change backcolor on MouseEnter and set color back when MouseLeave occurs.
- On MouseDown(LMB) - Panel stays "selected" - different color.
Problem: I can't access multiple panels at a time(and I need to), just one via sender as in function. Of course, I can do it hacky way, but I want to do it effective and regular. Is ItemCollection the right solution or should I do it just like an array of panels? Also I want them in one "box", ItemCollection is good for it.
Second "problem": I need to make labels "merged" in panels, when i MouseEnter them(labels), background color on that panel sets to my default color. when i MouseClick them(labels), nothing happens (need to "select" parent panel). It can be again fixed with hacky way, just disable labels - but then the colors of labels are unchangeable.

Global String Array Declaration In ActiveX Control And Package Installation Error
Apr 12, 2011I have been working on an activeX control which works on serial port communication. Now I have completed the project and created its setup.exe using Visual studio 6 -> Tools -> Package and Deployment Wizard. Then I installed the control in another PC and in a new project included the control using project -> components. But when I click on the control in the toolbox and then include on the form it gives the following error : delete current link ? and on clicking OK, nothing happens. I tried searching a lot on google but didnt find anything. Another problem is that I have created a string array as a global array which can be accessed by all the methods.I am able to include the same activex control in my own pc when I have created the project. Here it works fine, I am able to access all the methods that I coded in the control, but the String array mentioned above can be accessed in other project. I tried writing Public before the array declaration but it give me the compile error : "Constants. fixed length strings, arrays, user defined types and Declare statements not allowed as Public members of object module." The problem is that this works perfectly if I use the left and right arrows and it also works perfectly if I use the scroll bar's slider SLOWLY. If I scroll using the slider and move it quickly then the scroll gets out of sync.The small change and large change are both set to 1 and maximum is set to 8

Vb6 Migration - .net Taking Too Much Time To Load User Control Containing Label Control Array?
Dec 22, 2011I am upgrading user control from vb6 to vb.net.In the vb6 application I am loading 3000 labels using a label control array.In vb.net I am doing same but it's taking too much time to load.In vb6 it's taking 1-2 seconds, but in vb.net it's taking 30-40 seconds for same work. Why does it take too much time in vb.net for same work?Code is given below, here Led is the label control array.

Jun 21, 2010The situation is like this, says:I have textbox1 to textbox20 to show real-time reading, then textbox21 to textbox40 for other purpose. So textbox1-20 can be manage in group through: For index As Integer = 1 To 20 Form1.Controls("Textbox" & index).BackColor = SystemColors.Window Next The problem is, after some time i feel i like to change the order or add/delete few textbox, then i need to change the control name one by one by entering the name by hands(says if i add a text box then its name will be textbox41, then then For loop wont work, Or I deicided to delete the textbox15, forloop wont work either, then i need to rename them manually.)
Question: If there a ways that create a control array in VB 2008 express edition? which can set the name of Textbox1-20 to ButtonGroup then refer to them by says Buttongroup(1) for textbox1? (which means set a group of control in one name)

Creating Control From 'control Array?

The program does not crash or anything, but the picturebox is no where to be seen on the form. How to I make this work correctly?
And is 'Control Array' the correct term for this? or something else?
Get The Index Of A Control In A Control Array?
Dec 26, 2009I populated a form with several progress bars and added a function to handle a click event via AddHandler. The event fires and I have been able to do things with the control using the passed object 'sender', but I can't for the life of me determine what the index of the control is in the array.
Why is that important to me? Because I want to click the control, have a container of textboxes become visible, and populate them with data from the reference in my database based on what control was clicked, and update that data as needed. Making the container of textboxes visible, and even moving it based on the location of the clicked control in the array are all done and working fine. I just can't seem to get the index of the control.
I need to know what entry (progress bar in this case) was clicked. In the function, I can even do things with a select progress bar using something like pb(x).value = some integer, but I'm trying to find out what 'X" is when the click event fires.

EDIT: I figured out a work around using the 'name' property, but I would still like to know if what I asked about an index is possible.
One Tooltip For Control Array; Not One For Each Control?
Mar 27, 2012I have an application with as many as 625 Textboxes in a runtime generated control array.I add textboxes one at a time in a subroutine.The application ran with no problems until the parameters required more than 256 textboxes at which point it slowed drastically as textboxes were added. At circa 400 Textboxes it died with an out-of-memory condiiton.
The system has 8GB & a 64Bit version of Windows 7.It looks like the tooltips are eating up memory, causing excessive use of virtual memory from Hard Disk & finally causing out-of-memory.I am now running the application with a label which flashes when the mouse hovers. This uses the Handler for MouseHover.Is it possible to get a single Tooltip to function for all the Controls in an Array? I would prefer this to using the Event Handler.

When i port it over to VB.NET, i encountered error message 'ReDim' cannot change the number of dimensions of an array. for the line highlighted in red. And I suspect that VB.NET need to always define the exact dimension of the array during the declaration. But for the function above, for the array of 'MyMat()', I do not know what is the exact dimension every time it runs, and that is why i need to check the dimension of the array.My question is do we have any solution in dealing unknown dimension array in VB.NET? As in VB6, we can just define Array() instead of Array (,) in VB.NET.

Jan 30, 2011I have a form which has two panels each containing there own controls (Pnl1, Pnl2). By Default I want Pnl1 to show and Pnl2 to be hidden which I have set but I want Pnl2 to sit ontop of Pnl1 so when Pnl2 is selected Pnl2 is Visiable and Pnl1 is hidden. Therefore Pnl2 and the controls sit in the same place as the controls in Pnl1. I have got everything lined up but as I move Pnl2 over Pnl1 to sit ontop, Pnl2 is moved into Pnl1 and becomes a Panel within the Controls of Pnl1. Therefore when I hide Pnl1 everything is hidden as Pnl2 is part of Pnl1.

Feb 23, 2012Im working to develop an application thats going to run on some not-so-good as performance PC's. The application is done in VB.NET and i encountered some obstacles during my work.
The idea of the application is to allow the users to slide through some pages when they click with the mouse and drag (while the left click is pressed) to right (for browsing to the previous page) and to left (for browsing to the next page). Every page contains 4/6/9 panels with 4/6/9 pictureboxes with some gifs as images.
The issue is that when the user drag with the mouse to browse to a page, the panels and the pictureboxes jerks around when they are moved.
Here is the code that handles the slide part
