I have been going crazy all day and most of the week trying to get this some code to make a a picture box move across the screen and then when it ends another one starts moving right behind it.
Private Sub Timer1_Tick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Timer1.Tick
Private Sub Timer1_Tick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Timer1.Tick
If picBackGround.Left + picBackGround.Width < Me.Width Then
picbackground2.Left -= 1
My problem is that I have two pictures once the first has scrolled to the left with the last bit of the image on the right side of the form I need the next image to start moving from the right, then when the first image is completely of the screen it moves back to the right side of the screen and waits for the end of the second image and then the process repeats. Here is the code I put together so far.
Private Sub Timer1_Tick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Timer1.Tick If picBackGround.Left + picBackGround.Width < Me.Width Then
This code does not do what I want it bugs up for some reason if you can change this code or give me entirely differen
I am making a video game in visual studio 2010 and want to know how to make side-scrolling. I have my background image on the form and since you can't see through a picture box, I can't do it that way. Is there a detailed way to doing this?
I'm making a Shooter game like "1943" and "Jamestown". I was wondering how I would make the scrolling background to simulate moving forward and How would I make this efficient? I was thinking about using a animated GIF or to make a looping BitMap.
i am currently trying to improve my skills regarding simple graphics. currently i have a form with a background image. on top of that there is a movable image drawn during Form_Repaint. the image is a character that is animated. you click and the character moves to the new point. that all works great atm. i am even able to add new "AI Chars". they just randomly walk through the form and every time they stop, there is a 10% chance every 15s that they move somewhere else (random point). as is said, that works great. but now i am kinda stuck. since my "engine" (lets say so) is in isometric perspective, i need the ability to scroll.
I've got a panel in windows forms (Visual Studio 2008) which has a background image (A book shelf). When scrolling the image flickers and does not redraw so looks awfully - I've tried creating a new object to use double buffering but this has no effect,
What would be the best and easiest way to change background image in a VB application from images that are preselected by user from any given folder on the hard disk.
So say "Mike" selects some images in D:ImagesNature in the Nature folder we have lets say "20" images. Now the VB app reads this and saves path so next time its open its fetching images from that folder once more. And every few sec lets say 45 sec a new image is loaded for background.
My app has scrolling images in the background and a picturebox on top. The image in the picturebox has transparent parts. How can It so that the transparent parts show whatever is belo the picture box, not the form background? I have tried taking screenshots and positioning them as background but this just freezes the app.
Dim ScreenSize As Size = New Size(154, 83) Dim screenGrab As New Bitmap(154, 83) Dim blank As New Bitmap(100, 300)
After scouring the articles online I have come up with this design for a winforms based touchscreen app that needs smartphone like scrolling. The app itself will run on a tablet laptop or touchscreen desktop.I put everything I want to scroll on a panel. Set autoscroll to true (which will show scrollbars)Now put this whole panel inside a groupbox.Shrink the groupbox until the scrollbars are hidden (visually hidden, not visible = false)
Now the fun part I am stuck at.I think I have to handle the mousedown, mouseup & mousemove on the panel to set the autoscrollposition so that when someone touches the panel and drags, it does it's scroll magic. Please help fill in the few lines of code in below method stubs. The msdn doc on autoscrollposition is very confusing since it returns negative numbers but needs to be set to positive with abs and what not.

I have a basic asp.net web page. I have a menu bar divided into 3 columns. Each column displays an xml file. However instead of showing them side by side it displays them one on top of each other. i think it might be to do with my css?
My asp.net web code: <div class="menubar"> <div class="menuleft">
I need to send back the id, the old value from _1 and the new value from _0 back to the server. What is the best way to format this data so I can easily extract the data from the server side so I can easily email someone for example to let them know which textboxes have changed, what the old values were, and what the new values are
At the serverside level, I am using .NET-3.5 (VB). I know how to send the data bacl. and how to email the data, I just wanted to know how to best format the data at clientside before sending it back. I could have upto 50 sets of id, old, and new values to send back. Sorry for not making that clear earlier.
How can I modify the script above to generate this?
I'm working on a 2d game. making a button that can move in a path random up,down, side -side, etc. in a selected space. and once hits end of the form to slide out and reappear at other side of the selected space and do same thing over.
I currently have a parent Listview and its child Listview displaying in the centre column of an HTML page that consists of three columns left, centre and right. And all looks very good. However I would like to display the child list view in the right column beside the parent list view.
To do this it seems I must somehow generate from the code behind page a new row in the table every time the parent Listview displays a record of its data and then some column HTML so the first child list view will appear in the right hand column.
I'm trying to, from a client-side piece, call off to a server-side piece. I need to do this synchronously. On my server-side code, though, I'm calling off to another piece of code, which I want to have a maximum of, say, 10 seconds to return a value. If I don't have a response within 10 seconds, I want to force my own server piece to set my result equal to 0, and return to the client.
Here's what I have on my server-side code so far:
Public Function GetWebResult(ByVal inputParameter As Object) As WebReturnObject Implements IWebInterface.GetWebResult Dim result As New WebReturnObject Dim webItem As WebItem = Nothing
I realize this code is not functional. The problem is that I'm unsure how I would go about getting back into GetWebResult to set the appropriate return values before it is sent back to the client.
I am struckup with a problem from last two days. I am creating a web application using VB.NET, Ajax & RAD Controls. When user clicks on a button I want to open a RAD Window and show the list of ledgers available to the user, so that he can select one from the list. And to open that window I have to call a java script function from client side, which is already achieved using the below code.
I have an application which have multiple tab pages. On of these pages I have a group box with many controls that do something. Now the problem is I want to add exactly the same group box by the current one that can have different paparemeters. This is exactly the way that i want to add comparison capability between to set of parameters.I have more than 500 lines of code that responde to changes of these parameters and does something. Is there any way to replicate the the whole gropbox and use the same code for both and and being able to difrentiate between gropboxes.I think there was an array control in vb 6 but I am not sure if this the best way to do this in vb.net.What is the best way to do this for the least amount of changing the code and wasting time.
Basicly I have a program that retrieves data and parses it, which is fine, so it starts from:11:981.8 which equals to November 981.8 now what I have done is split the "November" and the "981.8" into 2 different arrays, with other similar data, now what I need to be able to do, is sort the array in either Ascending or Descending order, however keeping in tact, the November and 981.8 side by side in a list box.
My current code is:
Private Sub sortData(ByVal strYear As String, ByVal strSort As String) lbDispData.Items.Clear() Dim strData As String = My.Settings.usage2011 Dim arrRawData() As String
EDIT: Just to mention, there are many more values, not just November and 981.8, there would be for example December and 128.1, January and 191.1, etc.
I am starting a butterfly program and having an issue and really just barely have it started and would like to get some helpfeedback on how to do this. The following is the instructions and I will make a second post on what code I have so far...The butterfly is going to be moving from side to side in a slightly upward assent when the animation starts. You need to build a set of controls that allow the user to control whether the butterfly ascends (up) or descends (down) and also allows the direction of the butterfly to change (left or right). The best way to implement this feature is through the use of keystrokes that when pressed act to control the direction of the butterfly. Whether you implement this feature through keystrokes or controls, make sure that the feature is communicated to the user.
Butterflies fly by opening and closing their wings. So it is expected that the butterfly will alternate between opened and closed as it wings its way across the form. If the butterfly is moving right, make certain the butterfly graphic displayed shows the butterfly as moving toward the right. If the butterfly is moving to the left, make certain the butterfly graphic displayed shows the butterfly as moving toward the left.
If the butterfly reaches the top of the form in its assent, it should wrap around to the bottom of the form. If the butterfly reaches the bottom of the form in its descent, it should wrap around to the top of the form. If the butterfly reaches the left edge of the form, it should begin flying toward the right side of the form. If the butterfly reaches the right edge of the form, it should begin flying toward the left side of the form. If the user changes the direction of the butterfly, insure that the correct graphics are used in relation to the direction of the butterfly and that the butterfly moves in the indicated direction. Please note that when the butterfly reaches the edge of the form, the butterfly must change direction regardless of any user input.
Ultimately, what I want to accomplish is an AJAX-based messaging system. I already have a database table for messages, and an ASPX to add new messages (and declare old messages no longer relevant).
The current messaging system simply polls the server every 15 seconds, and re-pulls the current message set.
What I am looking to do is: On $(document).ready(), register an ajax callback function that listens for a server-side event (e.g., MessagesUpdated) On table insert/update, fire MessagesUpdated server-side.
This way, whenever the table is updated (or new records added), any clients listening know that new data is available and can re-poll the server then.
Ideally, I'd also like to make the new data available as an event argument (to minimize re-polling the db).
I can find references to something like this in other languages, but I cannot find any actual code examples to get me started.
Assuming this is possible to do via .Net, can anyone help get me started on this?
I'm using the 2.0 Framework. Also while I added a VB.Net tag, I can read C# reasonably well, so please feel free to post in either language.
I am trying to interface with excel in a vb.net windows app I am writting. Basically it imports csv files to a data table, adds some additional data from with a oledb datasource, creates a view to sort the data before pushing back in to a datatable and spitting it out to a listview. The list view then allows you to further filter and sort the data (or will do shortly but thats not an issue). From the data in the list there are then 2 options, it will either create individual reports for managers in a excel sheet, which it colour bands based on a total field and then emails out to the managers. This works fine.
The other feature is that it produces a summary report that goes to a central email account. Again it creates an excel workbook, adds 4 work sheets, copies all the data to a master sheet (sheet1), it then starts at the bottom of the master worksheet andcopies the total values from the total row for each employee and copies this value in to the next blank column. (This is basically used so I can determine based on the 3 score bandings which sheet each line should go on. The lines for an employee are madeup of individual leave lines and total line that has the summation of the individual lines for them).
Private Sub Button6_Click(sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button6.Click If btState = False Then
Im creating a space invaders game that has a group of "invaders" moving side to side and when i shoot one it gets destroyed, my invaders are in an array. So in order for the invaders to keep moving right until they get to the edge, i made a function that detects which invader is right most. But this was crudly done as I wa trying to make the opposite of my left most function which works. So my rightmost function dosent work
I'm using a background worker to read a XML file and do stuff in a database i get nothing in debugger but when i run it i get this error... how can i find out where and what is wrong? Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.
I am using query from a SQLite database as the AutocompleteCustomSource for a ComboBox. Also, I want to load data in separate thread. My LoadData method works fine when called directly, but it fails when it is called from the BackgroundWorker thread. When it is called from the background thread, it throws a Specified cast is not valid exception on the csearch.AutoCompleteCustomSource.Add(hh("Taj")) line. Below is my code:
Sub LoadData() Dim connetionString As String Dim cnn As SQLiteConnection
We are running Crystal Reports on a Windows Server 2008 with .NET framework 3.5 SP1. I have seen many causes of the general error "The request could not be submitted for background processing." on other forums, however they tend to be persistent and repeatable affecting just a single report due to a specific formatting issue with a specific report. We are seeing this error with the below stack trace, intermittently. It affects multiple different reports we have. It affects one particular report more frequently than other reports. Once a report is affected the same error will often appear in multiple reports at approximately the same time eg. for the next 10 minutes. The same report run with the same parameters may work when run again (soon after) or the application may need restarting before the report can be successfully re run. These reports all worked previously without issue. No change in server or code seems apparent which would have precipitated this error. All code behind for this is VB.NET We have had difficulty reproducing it in test environments and upgrading to the latest version of Crystal has not helped at all.
what I am trying to accomplish worked with the code in the last thread I posted a while back. I still am using this code, however, I changed the window size to work better and gave it a nicer background for the title screen of my project. Now what I am working on at the moment is making a settings form that has 2 labels. One for "Default" Layout and one for "Plain" layout. When default is at start, the default label is disabled, and when plain layout is clicked, the button is disabled and default button is enabled.Basically, this is a toggle switch for default or plain where if one is enabled, the option for it is disabled and the other is enabled. My problem is that when I switch from Plain back to default, the background Image will not switch back from the plain background color of "control"Here is my code:
Public Class Settings Private Sub LinkLabel1_LinkClicked(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.LinkLabelLinkClickedEventArgs) Handles LinkLabel1.LinkClicked MiDNiGHT.BackgroundImage = Nothing[code].......
I have a form which has a horizontal scoll bar, a vertical scroll bar, and a panel. The 2 scroll bars move the panel. When I execute the form, the panel will scroll under the horizontal scroll bar when using the vertical scroll bar. But it scrolls over top of the vertical scroll bar when using the horizontal bar. I don't understand why 1 of them goes over and the other 1 goes under. Is there some property that controls this? Or some way to that 1 set it up wrong? The vertical scroll bar is on the left edge of the form , to the left of the panel, and the horizontal scroll bar is near the top of the form, above the pane. Can anyone direct me as to how to get it to stop scroll over this bar?
i need to scroll a datagridview, my scroll bar is set to false so i need to do it using code.currently i am scrolling using the following code, but i would like to modify the code to scroll from one line to the next and see the blue bar actually selecting the rows. how do i do so
Private Sub grdMouseWheel(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs)
I want to make it so when I scroll down on one listbox view, it will do the same on the other one. How do I do that? I have one listbox that lists usernames, and the other one that does the message... so we don't have to worry about one having a longer height than the other one.
