Events And Binding Their EventHandlers At The Same Time

Oct 13, 2009

I have a problem with binding my EventHandlers at the right time. Here's a pseudo code of my 1. version:

[Code]....

I thought this 2. version would use "static binding" of the events during compile time. But it seems, that they are also bound to late, namely after the initialization of my UserControl has finished and so they aren't captured again. So is there a possibility to bind the events "at the beginning" so that my events, which are raised during the init of my UserControlClass are handled in my MainClass?

Binding Source Add Row Events?

Apr 12, 2011

I have a program that needs to generate a random 8 digit ID and check to see if it in the database before adding it to a new row.

At the moment I have the correct code for doing this, but I have it in the event handler Bindingsource.AddingNew. This event handler executes my code and THEN adds the new row. How can I get it to add then new row and THEN execute my code? Is there an event handler I can use to do this?

.net - Managing Event's EventHandlers?

I have a class that seems to be recursively adding an EventHandler to an event. I have looked at the code but there is no AddHandler on it and there's only one method with the Handles clause.In the memory profiler it shows that the event handler is calling the event handler that is calling the event handler and so on for a rather large number of steps.

Binding At Design-Time To WPF Labels, Buttons, Etc?

Jan 27, 2011

We're developing a WPF & MVVM application that requires multi-language support. On each control with static text, we're using a converter to do a lookup for the appropriate word for the user's language.

However, this means that each control does not display any text. This causes some irritation for the UI developers at design-time. Is there any way to display design-time text?

For example:

<TextBlock>
<TextBlock.Text>
<Binding Converter="{StaticResource Translator}"
Path="Controller"
ConverterParameter="Search for" />
</TextBlock.Text>
</TextBlock>

How can I make this converter execute at design time to display the translated converter parameter?

Forms :: Multiple Key Events At Same Time?

May 6, 2010

How can i code my application so that it can handle two sets of key events at the same time? For example, if I was making a game where one player used the WASD, and the other the arrow keys for moving, how can i make it so that both can move at the same time? The code I used only allows one to move at a time.. (key press event, If e.KeyData = Windows.Forms.Keys.down then.... etc)

Good Time To Use Custom Events?

Nov 3, 2009

How to implement my own events I'm not sure why do I use them. I mean instead of rising event you could simply call functions right? This is as close as I got to a good reason:
1) If you call a function that does one thing and then based on result it needs to do something else it may be a good idea to do that something else in event function that is raised when that first thing was done. This way you avoid creating long functions and can make system more intuitive.
2) If object1 is inside object2 (a variable) and object2 has function DoThis and in that function affect something in object2's parent class it's better to use event in object1 rather than mess with parent (object1) inside object2.

VS 2010 Scheduling Time Sensitive Events?

May 5, 2010

I have a question for the well versed among you. I have done some research, but didn't seem to find the exact answer I was looking for. So without further adieu.Given an event which needs to occur at a very specific time, whats the best and most predictable way or making that happen.

A: Use a worker thread, and threading.thread.sleep(TIME).

or B: Use System.Timers.Timer or System.Threading.Timer to execute in (TIME).

NOTE- I am fully aware that any of these will work. My question is in regards to priority of execution. How will a timer, which I can't figure out how to set a priority on, compare to a thread with a priority of Highest or even Real Time. Microseconds DO count in this instance.

Send Multiple Events With Same Start Time And Duration?

May 30, 2012

When I setup the event using DDay.ical I can successfully send the events to a user's outlook. The problem arises when multiple events are setup at the same time. When this happens all emails are updates to the original task, not new tasks.

I tried adding a name to the event using the .Name property, which results in the event email being an unsupported calendar invite.

VS 2008 - Can Data Binding To Object Properties Be Setup During Design Time

Feb 17, 2010

Im doing my first project with WinForms, and Im trying to get the DataBinding working. Theres no database in my project, but I'd like to bind some of the TextBoxes to objects' properties. In the other section of this forum (here) I found this line of C# code which does it: textBox2.DataBindings.Add(new Binding("Text", this.myPerson, "LastName"));

my question is can data binding to object properties be set up during design time (without writing code)? If so, how? P.S. I know how I would set up this binding if in WPF, but I'm forced to use WinForms.

Time Stamping Events And Counting How Many Occurred In The Last N Number Of Seconds?

May 9, 2010

I have an application where event driven events are already detected. Each time an even is detected I increment a counter.I would like to add the following functionality:

1.) I would like to create a time stamp each time an event is detected and store them in some kind of data structure.

2.) I would like to count how many events are being stored (or in essence count how many events have occurred in the past 10 seconds, not once but continuously).

3.) I would then like to discard of any events older than 10 seconds note events are interrupt driven and can occur more frequently than once a second, but updating my count of how many events have occurred in the past 10 seconds can be done as infrequently as say once a second.

Create The Report Template At Design-time And Then "binding" A Datatable To It At Runtime?

May 18, 2011

New to reports here. Using VB.NET, my application makes use of datatables it creates from a postgresql database.These datatables are defined at runtime rather than design-time, and I would like some way of generating reports from these datatables at runtime as well.

Should I be trying to create the report template at design-time, and then "binding" a datatable to it at runtime?

Early Binding Late Binding

Aug 19, 2009

I started programming in VBA, then graduated to VB6, and I am now using VB.NET 2008 Express.I have read, in the various posts, that I should keep Option Explicit and Option Strict both on, in order that I use correct VB.NET code and not VB6.I am trying to do that but am totally confused with the results of one of my programmes that was running perfectly with Option Strict off, but now advises:Option Strict On disallows late binding. To me it appears that I am using early binding, but to be honest I am not clear on the binding situation. I have checked through a number of google items, and a number of this Forum's items without seeing the light.[code]

C# - Convert A Date And Time To UTC Time Based On The Time Zone Of The User?

Sep 6, 2009

I have an ASP.NET application with a SQL Server back end. I am storing all my dates in UTC format and doing the appropriate conversions to the local time zone of the browser viewing it. One of the pages asks for a start date and end date (no times).

I am taking the start date and setting the time to 00:00:00 hours (midnight) and I'm taking the End time and adding a time of 23:59:59, so that the date range covers the whole day. Now what I'm trying to do is do a SQL query to do a search for records in this date range. The problem is, the data in SQL is in UTC time and the user is typing their dates and times in their local date and times. My quickest solution was to convert the date and time to UTC, then search the records. However, by doing this, I am to believe ASP.NET converts the given time and date to UTC based on the server time zone. How can I convert a date and time to UTC time based on the time zone of the user?
