I m new in programming and Im trying step by step to build my first program. I use Microsoft Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition with SP1. All I want to do is to give a button by pressing it, the ability to copy all the text from a word document into excel.
I'm unable to copy/paste items from my listbox to any document (Excel, Word, .txt). I would need to select multiple items in the listbox. I searched for it but there seem to be multiple vague answers around there.
I'm attempting to copy cells, one at a time, from an Excel 2003 (or 2007) spreadsheet to a Word 2003 (or 2007) table. I'd like the code to be version-agnostic, and so am using late binding. The formatting of the contents of the Excel cell, such as color, underline, strike-through, needs to be preserved. My approach is to use a Word doc as a template. It has a table at the top which I can copy to the end of the doc, add rows as needed, and fill in the word table cells with the data from the excel spreadsheet. Unfortunately, all the formatting disappears. All I get is the text itself.
I'm trying to copy multiple excel source files into one excel file. My current code is working only for 3 source files..If more than 3 files are there, it doesn't copy the data but creates blank work sheet in the output excel file. Lets say I have a source folder with 5 excel files. Each workbook contains one worksheet with data. It copies upto 3 worksheets along with data into output excel file.
Lets say excel1 contains A as work sheet, excel2 contains B as work sheet ,excel3 contains C as work sheet ,excel4 contains D as work sheet ,excel5 contains E as work sheet .Now my output excel file should look like..OutputExcel with A, B, C, D, E along with respective data. But my current code is giving output as A,B,C worksheets along with respective data but its creating blank sheet1,sheet2 in place of D & E.
I need to access the current instance of MS Excel. To do that, I wrote the following code:
Imports Excel = Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel Imports System.Diagnostics Private _ExcelApp As Excel.Application
[Code].....
The code runs nice, but it has a problem: After the user close the Excel application (click button X - note: no other instance of Excel exists), if you open the Windows's task manager, its possible to see the process Excel.exe.
If I open and close the Excel application, there is no process Excel.exe, but if I run my code with the Excel application openned, after the user close the Excel application, the process Excel.exe isn't finished.
I have a table of data in Excel 2003 of which I have managed to automate through a VB.NET application to create a Pivot Table. (Will be doing hundreds of these and therefore cannot just run a macro each time...will put the code in a for loop for each spreadsheet in a directory) My problem is that I am trying to create a pivot chart based on the pivot table.
Some code below....I need to create a pivot chart based on the pivot table below!
I use VB 2010, Office 2003 and Windows 7.All the office programs have worked fine on their own for several years, but when I try toconnect to Excel or Word via .net coding (That will work on other systems) the program fails because the
Now date is : July2010 Now time is: 1229 (12:29) When a = 1,
I want my vb program to check the actual date. if there is not a folder D:July2010 program firstly creat a folder. And vb program will copy excel1.xls file and paste it into July2010 folder by chaning the file name as Excel1_1229.xls How can I do that ?
I have successfully constructed several one-dimensional arrays and correctly passed them to an output subroutine. I am trying to pass/copy the values of each array to an Excel spreadsheet, but have encountered 2 problems.
Problem 1: The program fails on the following line: outSheet1.Range("B2").Resize(passFile1IndMax + 1).Value = passFile1Amount with the error message: "Value does not fall within the expected range"
Problem 2: When commenting out this line (and the corresponding one for passFile2Amount), the program no longer fails, however, the results show 8 rows (passFile1IndMax and passFile2IndMax both = 7) of the same data (e.g., A2:A9 all = 3/1/2011 = passFile1Date(0))--the first item in each array.I am trying to avoid looping through each index value and assigning values on a cellby-cell basis. Help...
I'm using vb.net to manipulate excel worksheets and I need to copy a row from one worksheet to another in a different workbook. Nothing I've tried seems to work.
I know how to copy text from vb.net to a excel cell.Unfortunately I need it to copy to a textbox in the excel worksheet called 'Text Box 44'.How can I copy the value from my app to the text box in Excel?
I have a list of file names in column A of an excel sheet. I need to make a windows form that will look at the excel sheet - and search a directory (with subfolders)for each file name in the column A.I have this done in an excel macro righ now, but want to move away from using excel macro. I can post the VBA code I am using if needed.
I'm using ODBC to export tables from a dataset to an Excel file without auto-formatting Excel or even needing to have Excel installed on the users PC. This works great but I just had a request to autosize the columns and make the header line bold. The only way I know of doing this is to fully automate Excel to control the row/column/cell formatting. Does anyone know a way of doing this without auto-formatting Excel?
Imports System Imports Microsoft.VisualBasic Partial Public Class _Default

I have checked the permissions between the two different versions and they appear to be the same.
why Dir dosen't work with Excel 2007 and Word 2007 files?
I'm developing a small vb application that will enable a user to select an excel spreadsheet as the source data and a word document as a letter template then create a mailmerge from the two. It's all working fine apart from when the mailmerge runs, a dialog box pops up asking for the sheet to be selected. The list of options is blank until the 'options' button is clicked and 'system tables' is selected. This is a word thing but I'd like to turn this off, if possible selecting the necessary options programatically from within my vb application.
My opendatasource code is: .OpenDataSource(Name:=sourcefile, LinkToSource:=True, SQLStatement:="select * from 'Sheet1$'", _
I am creating a WorkSheet from code. I need my columns to word wrap and not run over (see red arrow below). Not really sure how to do it. Tried to set it for the range of columns with no luck. Here's the current output:
Here's where I try to set it: Protected Sub Button1_Click(sender As Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim xlApp As Excel.Application
I have a sql table with a binary field where any kind of document can be stored. I'd like to show them using webbrowser (or PrintPreviewControl if possible). The only way I found was to save the stream as a file and then navigate with the webbrowser, but when I navigate to an Excel file and then I navigate to any other file, my system reboots (I tested in other workstations -W2000 and XP). I'd like to load the webbrowser with the stream without having to save it as a file. Or show the stream on a PrintPreviewControl or similar?
