Feb 23, 2010I'm just wondering how I could have a Textbox, execute "scripts" through it? Like say my Textbox.Text is "MsgBox("test")", how can I execute that function?

Dec 13, 2011I need to execute a stored function in oracle or sql through vb.net. I created a command object. Depending on the database type(oracle or SQL) i am preparing the Command text as Select functionName(?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?) from dual; (For Oracle) Adding the parameter values of the function. Now performing the ExecuteScalar which is not working saying invalid parameter. This works with ODBC connection string. But ODBC doesn't with 64bit. My Requirement: Code should execute a user defined stored procedure by taking the values at runtime.

Jul 1, 2009I am working on an application in Visual Basic Express using an Access 2000 database.I am trying to get athe following SQL query to work but get an error in Access.
The query is:
SELECT [ID], [Title], [Author], [Series], [YearPublished], [ISBN], [CoverPrice], [Style], [Condition], [Signed], [Comments], Count([Title]) AS CountOfBooks, Sum([CoverPrice]) AS TotalCoverPrice
FROM tblBooks
WHERE ID=[@ID];
The error is:"You have tried to execute a query that does not include the spec ified expression 'ID' as a part of the aggragate function."
The query works fine without the 'Count' and 'CoverPrice' count and sum to the query.

I would like to give my end-user the flexibility to add segments of code to my program, save it to a text file and then run it whenever they need it. This will ease the burden of upkeep; rather than compiling all my code and releasing that at short intervals, I can just let the user update the portion of code they want without having to re-compile the tool.

Unable To Execute Bat File And Filter By Specific String?
May 21, 2010I have a problem to implement action button to execute bat file . I am using SharpDevelop Version : 3.2.0.5698 . this code looks like :

in wpis_v3.bat I have :

status.bat launches script to check license availbilty on the server and write it to report.txt ... by launching just wpis_v3.bat it works . report is generated with all information about licenses . But when I launch from VB icon - report file is generate but is total empty . I observed that with any bat which contains >> VB doesn't write into file. Is there other way to acchive it ? I would like that VB will show only specific lines from this report.txt - which contain string : "Site" and other "Client" .

C# - Random String Function ?
Jul 31, 2011I've made a function in C# to create a random string, but I wanted to convert it to VB.NET, unfortunately my knowledge of Visual Basic is much less than my knowledge of C#.
Here is my VB.NET function:

As you will see, its not much different from my C# version, except that since VB can take an optional parameter, I allow the user to select what characters to use in the string, or just use the default ones.
Here's the C# version of my function:

Again, there's not much different, but the part I'm really struggling on is the conversion between what is the 12th line of VB code, and the 13th line of C# code. I didn't really know how to convert it to VB.NET (as I said, my knowledge of it is very limited), so I used an online converter. The result of the online converter runs with no errors, however when I try to call the function, no string appears.
