May 20, 2010I am trying to export data from a datagridview which works fine, but it crashes when pat_eid value is empty, as pat_eid has been set a primary key and cant accept null values in the database level.
So, I want to enter a message box if column(0) which is the pat_eid has an empty field. Please could you advise me how to do that.

Export XML Data From Multiple DataGridView And Import Again Later?
Apr 1, 2009I have several DataGridView controls populated with data. I want the ability to export all the data from these populated controls to 1 XML file. In effect the controls are populated after my project runs. The user will be given the option to export the data.
I then in turn want the ability to import this same data back to these empty controls at a later point in time. I would run my project in a different mode which would display the empty controls. The user would be given the ability to uploaded the XML file and repopulate the controls.

Feb 15, 2010I have created a DB with access and imported it into my application. What I am trying to do is startup with regi.vb and test to see if there are any entries into the DB and if so, hide the startup form(regi.vb) and show the login.vb form. have done a test and it loads regi.vb then I enter some details into the textboxes and then after clicking a button, it inserts the info from the textboxes into the DB. It then loads login.vb, which is fine, but then if i exit the app and reload it, it tests to see if there is anything in the DB and when it finds that there is, it reloads the bloody regi.vb(startup form)!!So why, when it discovers that the DB is not empty, it re-opens the startup form??

I was wondering if it's possible to make an app which uses some cache or something (I guess the the page is saved temporary somewhere on the disk for the current session) to retrieve that data in vb.net?

Jun 10, 2007I have done a google and see that many people have asked the question on how to export a Datagridview to a Excel (.xls) file. For some reason I cannot seem to get it to work (i have gotton the program to open an Excel and save it, all hidden in the background). I use a bit of the coding from this source code [URL] but modified it and incorporated it into my program. It connects an OLE Database connection with the excel sheet... but what i want to do is beable to alter the sheet in the datagridview and export it back to an excel sheet. I am not trying to sound pushy when i say this but... if you download the source file i am using you will get a really good idea of my situation..
