File I/O And Registry :: [VB2005]How To Rename Project
Dec 29, 2008
I have completed my VB code and decided to publish it(make program an installable program). However, I want to rename my project so that when I publish it, the program will be the name I want. Now, my project is named as "Trial" when I first started. Now I want to change to "Monitor" due to some reasons. So it means having to renames all the files in that project as "Monitor" instead of "Trial".
how to save information into a text file from runtime VB2005. However, I wish to be able to write the information into any kind of form of file that cannot be simply opened and read by anyone (such as text file can be). Is there anyway that VB2005 can do this?
I'm trying to create a software in VB.Net to disable the following from a Windows 7 pc. Cut, copy, paste, rename, delete, open, print, share, create shortcut, open with, send to, properties. i want to give users the option of disabling them selectively/individually via checkboxes so those options will be disabled in the right-click of a mouse. I'm aware that to do so I must disable them from the Windows registry.
My problem is I don't know which is the right key to disable as the registry is so huge & some keys are similiarly named. say what are the exact key locations of the above-mentioned right-click functions in the Windows Registry ?
I'm trying to create a software in VB.Net as my uni project to disable the following from a Windows 7 pc. I think they have to be disabled from the context menu of the Windows Registry, but instead of disabling the whole context menu, I'd like to disable the following individually.Cut, copy, paste, rename, delete, open, print, share, create shortcut, open with, send to, new, properties.I want to give users the option of disabling them selectively/individually via checkboxes so those options will be disabled in the right-click of a mouse. My problem is I don't know which is the right key to disable as the registry is so huge & some keys are similiarly named.Could anyone help me to say what are the exact key locations of the above-mentioned right-click functions in the Windows Registry or how to go about this ?
...VB express... I recently got a new computer, and then realized that a text file that I opened and read from in one of my apps was not there anymore.I copied the project from my old computer but forgot about the text file. the project's file pointed to it's folder, and the text file's path was somewhere else Is there a way I can keep a file with a project when it's compiled, and then how do I set the path in the app so that the file is found when I want to read it?
i wish if any one can help me in this:i finished from my project and i want now to conver it to an executable file before it can be used or installed in a workstation.
After I finish my project I'll create a setup for it and give it a serial number. But unformatted it could install on many PC.I have heard that I can create a serial number with the number of the motherboard of PC. Is this possible?I was working on accounting program. This program was protected from a steal by a piece insert in the usb of the PC. So the program was working only for a few days if that piece doesn't inserted.
I have a VB.NET project in Visual Studio 2010 for an Excel Add-In.I use the "My" namespace, and in general it seems that the "My Project" folder contains configuration information about the project. My problem is that I need to change the name of this folder, because my version manager system won't accept spaces in file or folder names.Edit: There is a hacky way to do it, by renaming the folder and changing all references in the .vbproj file. However, the may work for a command line generation, but it won't work the next time the project will be opened in Visual Studio. The IDE will create a new "My Project" folder, and complain that it can't find the settings in it.
I have a VB 2008 project XYZ. It is in an XYZ folder. I want to keep it, but I also want a copy of it which I will call ABC which will be in the ABC folder. How do I do this? Just moving files to a new folder does not work. I have found a few places to make changes like the assembly name, but there seem to be many places and I haven't found them all. I found some old posts for earlier versions of VB but they are not applicable.
Is there an easy way to add more than the default icon to a project, giving the user a choice when Create Shortcut/Change Icon is used?I can find nothing recent on this anywhere.
I would like to know if there is any way that I can rename an entire project / solution.I created a project called say WindowsApp1, and then realized that I do not want that name, I'd like to rename it to something else.So I'd like to rename all references to WindowsApp1 throughout the project to another name.
I did a project in VB for a class last week. This weeks project requires we add on to the last project. Is there a way to copy the whole project, then modify the copied version so I can keep the original?
Is it possible to rename a VB.Net 2005 Pro project folder? If I rename the folder then try to open the solution file it can't find any of the forms/modules, etc and there doesn't seem to be a way to rename it in vb itself.
I want to rework and rename an existing application and utilize everything I've already done -- but it looks like it isn't going to be that simple? One post suggested renaming the folder, plus the project and another subfolder but when I opened that folder there were another 7 or 8 files that also needed changing.I DON'T want to do anything that will create a conflict and if I'm going to change to newname from oldname, I don't want to see "oldname" popping up anywhere..Is there a safe way to rename and reuse an exisitng project? Without anything being left out ?
I have the following code on the code behind file for a .aspx page in a project:
Dim searcher As New ManagementObjectSearcher("SELECT RemoteName FROM win32_NetworkConnection WHERE LocalName = '" & sFilePath.Substring(0, 2) & "'") For Each managementObject As ManagementObject In searcher.[Get]()
How to add , append , rename and remove project resources during run time? How to get a list of all resources during run time? How to use project resources? (for ex. i added textfiles and images how can i open them?)

I've had a bit of a look around the net and on the forums but I've yet to find an answer to my question. I've got Visual Basic 2008 Express and I'm trying to write some registry entries, I can write strings fine just using
Currently, I am try to get the email addresses that have been saved or stored by the user of the computer. This isn't the emails that the user has sent or received, or the contacts he/she has in his address book. Just simply the email accounts that have been accessed from the computer.I know that there are some locations stored in the registry that have the email account. The email addresses that are used on the current computer. I just can't seem to find them on my computer.I am not sure if the registry is the only place to find it or if it stored on the web browser such as internet explorer or google chrome.
I am writing an application that connects to a specific com port. This com port can change depending on how many physical ports are on the PC, and if other USB devices have installed com ports before this one.
I have the communication to the com port all working great, but I need to get the com port description not just the "COM#" which is all I currently get.
I found in the registry where the description is stored but am having trouble doing what I need.
there is a varied number of sub keys. The are numbered 0000-NNNN depending on how many ports you have. Inside each of these keys, there are multiple values, although I am only interested in one or 2 of them.
My problem is, that I do not know how to get a list of the subkeys (the 0000-NNNN keys/folders) from the original key I posted. I have looked through a few registry tutorials, and I can view the default value in the listed key, but I could not find how to list the subkeys of the listed key.
Does anyone have any sample code they could share that shows how I can get a listing of subkeys, and then run through those subkeys checking for a specific value in one of the strings contained in the subkey?
I have several programs that must write to HKLM in XP and Windows 7/64 Pro.The programs work in VB6 but not in VB.Net 2008 on target machines. It does works on our development machine. [code]I just cannot figure out why VB6 works but .net doesn't and fails only on the target machine not the development machine.
