I am having some trouble filtering a datagridview using a combo box. Does anyone have an samples of code that I could utilise to do this exact task? I have tried using the samples here url... but I cant get them to run in Visual Studio 2008.

I have a datagridview in Visual Studio 2008. I am using the binding navigator to add rows to the grid. I have two text boxes on the form that I am using as the data entry method. I have dragged these onto the form as details items from the dataset and placed them below the datagrid.
I hit add item item on the navigator, fill out the test boxes and then hit the save button on the navigator and it sends the data to the database but is doesn't not update the datagrid. The only way that I can seem to correctly display the new row is to use the Datagrid fill method

View 2 RepliesI have a Visual Basic project and when working and modifying code, the compiler will crash and then a message will say something like "Microsoft visual studio encountered a problem and was shut down." I've tried editing code from the solution and the project. Both produce the error. Usually occurs when adding an "IF...Then..." condition. May work for hours but then crash. Solution will compile and build.

what i want to do is when i write something in a textbox, i want to show rows only which starts with my text.for example, if i write "dav", then first 2 rows should be visible.
I am running a stored procedure and presenting the data back to users in a simple datagridview. I'm unable to figure out a way to filter my data through the SQL side, so I wanted to see if I could filter data through the datagridview. Basically my sql query returns back values of "activity" that are either added or deleted, and I only want to present data back to users that are "added.' Is there a way to do this by filtering the contents of the datagridview?This is what I have in my codebehind for the page for both the SQL connection string, and the stored procedure. I'm assuming that this would be where I would filter the information.

In a while loop, I am writing a progressively increasing integer value (between 0 and 100) to the Value attribute of a ProgressBar control, when it disappears from the window in which it resides. I have verified at the time that it disappears that the Min is 0, Max is 100, and Value is a valid integer in range.

I am very new to Visual Studio Application Development. I'm mostly a DB guy. I used Visual Studio as a Report Designer, not much of an .Net guy though I can understand it. I am now asked to create a .net application and I'm trying to create a "Hello World" starter app. I opened my Visual Studio, click File-New Project and all I see is Business Intelligence Projects and Other Project Types. I have been working on a game development program for a few days now. And have come to a halt on one part, and thats adding a 3D space in the program. I do not know the code for this, would some one please provide something i could use for adding 3D space in my project? for example, i have a panel set up to be the view port in to the 3D space. Now, from the data sources window drag a DataGridView over to the Form1, drop it. There is no BindingNavigator created with it, so I drag on over there from the toolbox. View 2 RepliesI'm using Visual Studio 2005 on Windows XP.When I drop a new DataGridView into my Windows Forms, and try to make 1 of the columns a checkBox, VS2005 gives me TWO of each columnType choice:
TextBox
TextBox
CheckBox

Should I use "CheckBox type 1" or "type 2"?Also,When I make 1 of my columns a "checkBox", and then try to use it, the checkBox seems keep turning itself back ON.I turn it ON, and then click on a different column or row, and the checkbox stays ON, like it should.But if I turn the checkBox OFF, and then click on a different column or row, the checkbox magically turns itself back ON. I can't find anything in my code that says "turn it back on". And I've never connected it directly to any data source.

When I am looking at code examples sometimes they are in .vbp Now I know that is vor visual basic (.vbp) But How do I edit it in Visual Studio 2008. Should I use Microsoft Office's Version of Visual Basic?

I will try to implement the Mod twiddle/twaddle later.But first I found that I can use just cos terms or just sin terms without having to use both.First I found that I can create all the analysing frequencies and their Cosines angles with the following code.The addition of (PI/4) allows the use of only the cosine terms( or only sine terms).The first part of the code test for the size of the rows of the picture and if not an even multiple of two it resizes the image so that the number of pixels is an even power of two. I dont care if the number of rows in the picture is or is not an even multiple of two at this point.

View 1 Repliesi'm running Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition (latest service pack ... 9.0.30729.1 SP) on XP Pro SP3 with .Net Framework version 3.5 SP1 I have a rather large project I've imported from Visual Studio 2003 (Standard).The project compiles and runs just fine ... my compiled program itself never crashes.
But while I actually have the code up in the IDE, and simply adding/deleting code the whole IDE will randomly crash (usually without warning) and I loose my changes since last save.If/when I do get some hint of why it crashed, I get a window about illegal whitespace or something.... but that's rare ... usually it just crashes without warning and the whole IDE completely shuts down instantly. just deleting/adding a character is enough to trigger it maybe once every 30 minutes.
This is on a computer that is otherwise very rock solid .... no other program ever crashes, etc.
this event works ok, but the problem is that I don't know what field was clicked. Should I use objectinfo or something else? VB.net won't recognize for example e.objectinfo.
View 1 RepliesI know about VSTO/VSTA, and I also know that some VBA functionality (with .NET syntax of course) can be done in .NET. There is definitely a learning curve going from VBA to .NET without VSTO. My question though is, can everything that is done in VBA somehow be recreated in .NET without VSTO?
The reason is because I am converting my VBA application into .NET for several reasons: I want to take advantage of OO, my class libraries will be better available for use, and for fun. I wouldn't be too happy if I got so far in only to learn of some limitations.
