Finding Area Of Webpage Source

May 18, 2009

I need to be able to find a piece of the webpage source. It always starts the same, but as a random number behind it.

So sometimes it could be...
Example.com/123345
And Sometimes...
Example.com/098765

But will always start the same. I only need part of the source, not all.

Finding Area And Perimeter Of A Rectangle?

Sep 8, 2009

OK, so I just started this VB programming class at school. But I don't understand much because the teacher doesn't really teach us. He just types everything on the projector and expects us to keep up. We have this project in which we are supposed to build a form that accepts the length and width of a rectangle, and calculates the area and perimeter of the rectangle. CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME?? I really have no clue how to do this, and more than half the other people in our class don't either, so finding help within the class is pretty much out of the question.

The user enters values for the length and width of a rectangle and clicks the Calculate button or presses the Enter key to activate that button. The application then displays the area and perimeter of the rectangle in the third and fourth labels on the right side of the form.

Specifications The formula for calculating the area is width * length. The formula for calculating the perimeter is 2 * width + 2 * length. The application should accept fractional decimal entries like 10.5 and 20.65. Assume that the user will enter valid numeric data for the length and width.

Finding The Brightest Area In An Image?

Aug 5, 2009

I'm working on a small project for the fun of it. One of my hobbies is astro-imaging and I take pictures of planets, nebulae gallaxies etc . One of the more challenging targets is the International Space Station. I have had some success with the ISS by manually aiming my telescope as the Station moves across the sky.

What I am trying to achieve is to write a program that will lock onto the brightest area of a webcam image. If the brightest area (which will be the ISS) is off center, then commands are sent to the telescope to recenter it.

So far I have been able to write code that talks with the scope, and I have been able to get a webcam stream to show on a Form.

So the last piece of the puzzle (well I am sure there will be other things that have to be worked out) is to identify the brightest area of the image. I am scratching my head as to how I should accomplish this.

I'm thinking I should dump pixel information into an array maybe, and establish which line and column has the brightest average values (I could then draw a cross hair over the image).

Selecting A Specific Area Of A WebPage?

Oct 24, 2010

I was wonder how, if you can, can I create a WebBrowser control or something similar to this, that will contain a selected area of information, and that information only. So it doesn't load and show the whole web page, only the part I choose.

For example, I would only want to show the weather portion of this webpage: [URL]

How can I get a specific area of a webpage, loaded into a form, that is able to be reloaded/refreshed later on?

Finding The Webpage Manipulation Code?

Jan 21, 2012

I have a vb.net / ado.net application for distributors that queries a sql server db, converts the records to tab delimited text format file. After building the file, the user goes to the website of the manufacturer, logs in to a private area and uploads the txt file.

I would like to add a function to my vb.net code that would launch a browser in a form, load the manufacturer's login screen, load the user id, password and then let the user log in by clicking the login button. Then when the next page loads, I'd like to have the text file I just created pop into the web page text box for file name, choose a couple of radio button options properly and then let the user click the submit button.

Finding & Clicking A Always Changing Link ID On Webpage?

Jan 15, 2011

I can now navigate to pages, fill forms, submit forms, click elements etc.My next big step will be collecting html element ID's which are constantly different each time I navigate to a page.On the webpage I am working on, each page contains 10 of these ID's.

ill_btn_20234518
ill_btn_20534538
ill_btn_20174048

Now I am just looking to click on one of them at random for right now. It doesn't matter which one. Or perhaps the first one to appear on the webpage. Here is the code that I tried first........it works fine for clicking static buttons (without the random id #'s at the end)

Dim ill As HtmlElement = WebBrowser1.Document.GetElementById("ill_btn_")
ill.InvokeMember("click")
End Sub

I guess what I am looking for here is some sort of partial id tag, to let it know to search for the first ID that begins with ill_btn_ ?

Get Webpage Source With WinInet?

Nov 6, 2010

I know that .NET has several classes to do that, but sometimes I need to download a webpage that requires login, like a forum. I do not want users to fill in their sername/password in my application, because I know I'll get a lot of complaints about that. WinInet handles cookies automatically (if the user is logged in with Internet Explorer), but WebClient, HttpWebRequest and WebRequest don't.In my VB6 application I show a messagebox, telling the user that the webpage can't be downloaded the 'normal' way, but if they want, that the application can still download the webpage if they are logged in with IE.This is the VB6 code slightly modified. It works fine until it gets to the line:

vb.net
iResult = InternetReadFile(hInternet, sBuffer, BUFFER_LEN, lReturn)
I think something is wrong with the InternetReadFile declaration.

Viewing Source Of A Webpage?

Mar 24, 2010

Been working on a Web Browser in VB 2008 Express, and so far things have been going good. I have run into a little problem though. I have a menu bar at the top of the browser as normal and one of the items selects is "View" and then under that "Page Source".

Now, i have added the following code and it works as expected but one problem. When the box opens to display the web page source it has no scroll bars, minimize or maximize buttons to manipulate the page.

Private Sub PageSourceToolStripMenuItem_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles PageSourceToolStripMenuItem.Click
Dim pagelSource As String = WebBrowser1.DocumentText
MsgBox(Me.WebBrowser1.DocumentText)
End Sub

I think the problem is that I am using "MsgBox" . Would there be a better way to do this?

Extract The Page Source Of A Webpage ?

Jun 6, 2011

Basically I am building a webcrawler and in order to do so

I have to extract the page source of a webpage which I can do so like this:

CODE:

The above code works fine on most of the websites I have tried to extract page source from but for some reason it is failing to extract the html contents of few websites like these where the message posted by a user is nowhere to be seen? The webpage in question is this: [URL]

Is there something I have missed or is it due to forum protection etc which is preventing the vb application from extracting the whole page source?

Incomplete Webpage Source Returned?

Nov 19, 2009

I am working on an app that requires searching the source code for a printer's web page for some information. I have used several methods to retrieve the source code (WebClient.DownloadString, HttpWebRequest.GetResponse) and in all cases recover only a portion of the web page. I can use View Source on the webpage and it is a 14K file, but using the VB functions I only get 5K of it. In these cases the data stops just prior to a <div class="tabBox"> tag containing data specific to the printer. I have also added code to pause the app, thinking that maybe it needed time for the page to complete before returning the code. Any ideas what I need to do to get the whole page?
