I'm working on a simple miles-per-gallon calculator.

This compiles and works for 1 iteration, after many trials and tribulations . What I need to do is make it run for a user-specified number of iterations (the tankfuls variable) and store those separate results in separate locations in the arrays, then average all of those values at the end (find the overall average MPG).

I want 16, not 11 so (17 + 19 + 12 + 13 + 19) / 5 not (17 + 19 + 0 + 0 + 12 + 13 + 19) / 7 Something like this if it would work.
=SUM(Fields!fieldname.Value) / Count(iif(Fields!count_cycle_per_hour.Value >= 0,Fields!fieldname.Value,0))
Essentially just average everything in the column NOT a zero?

I am supposed to create a program that inputs 3 numbers, takes the two largest and outputs an average of those two numbers using simple ifelse statements and logical operators only. I can't seem to get it. I've messed around for a few hours now and nothing seems to be working.

I enter numbers and Names into a text box and click 'add to list'. THe names go into a seperate listbox to the numbers.I then press 'show me the list' and i get to view my numbers and names listed in the two listboxs. I also have a button which averages the numbers in the numbers list box. But i dont know how to get it to work I will divide by the number of items in the list box.note: The average will be displayed in a label called: lblavg

I have a question regarding average and max values. I am new at programming. I have 6 text boxes with generated numbers in them. I need the max number to show up in one text box and the average to show up in the other.Sometimes not all six boxes will be used so I can't just do textbox1 + textbox2 + textbox3 + textbox4 +textbox5 + textbox6 /6 = average and as for max I have no clue how to do that.

Here's a simple way
average=(a+b+c+d+e)/5
But what if i have values only in 3 textboxes, that means the code will still divide the sum of the values into 5, that will not be correct!

I have a table called tblComparison - this table has the following columns[code]...
Once the averages for each column are created it needs to save them to tblMonthlyComparison - again the column names in this table are the same so in the fldDate column the program needs to enter 31/12/2011. In fldAverage of this table what we do is take the average that we found above for each column then plus them together and divide them by 5.

I'm working on a function to return a exponential average and there are a lot of examples of exponential moving averages but they all start with a moving average that is just the mean as a lead in to calculating the continuing moving average. I needed just a exponential average of a value set. After Googling my Bing off I still haven't seen anything so here is my attempt at a basic exponential average. Is this correct? Are there any errors? I have seen some text about adding a smoothing value to change the curve of the exponential average but not how that would be implemented.

When I click on button1, employee_id and P values need to be transferred from button1_click to Cal_Category13() and go through all the calculation. After the calculation, udtnew.X and udtnew.MTD values need to be transferred back to button1_Click
I've no problem to return multiple values Cal_Category13().MTD and Cal_Category13().X from Cal_Category13() to button1_Click but i've no idea how to transfer employee_id and p values from button1_click to Cal_Category13().

I'm in a computer science class, and we are writing simple programs using Visual Basic 2008. I am really inept when it comes to this, as I have never done it before. I need to write a program that: "Asks the user for 5 numbers and computes the average. It then displays the average with an appropriate message before the average."
I have been really close with this, but I can't get the numbers to add up, then divide by 5, and display a pop up message.

I have a database which need to be assigned into array arr()(), e.g.
arr(0)(0) = aa arr(1)(0) = ab arr(2)(0) = aa
arr(0)(1) = bb arr(1)(1) = ba arr(2)(1) = ba
arr(0)(2) = cc arr(1)(2) = cc arr(2)(2) = cc
I need to find distinct / unique value in each arr(k)(0), arr(k)(1), arr(k)(2); where k=0..2. Then i need to insert the result into array cat as follows:
cat(0)(0) = {aa} cat(0)(1) = {ab}
cat(1)(0) = {bb} cat(1)(1) = {ba}
cat(2)(0) = {cc}
I've tried code below but it doesn't work. The assigning process into array arr()() from DB is OK. Problem only come up if I try to find the distinct value (If Not (cat(j).Contains(ds.Tables(0).Rows(i).Item(j))) ... End If).

I am trying to find a set of missing values between an array and cell values from a DataGridView. The array is a set of numbers from 1 to a user-entered maximum number. For example, if the user enters 10, then the array will have the values 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10. The rows in the DataGridView might have values such as 2,4,6,8. I want to create a second array that would have the values 1,3,5,7,9,10. I believe I need to loop through the array values and compare them to the row values in the DataGridView. But I'm stuck on the method of either adding or removing values (or doing nothing) to the second array as the array value loops through the DataGridView. logic or some VB Code that will produce the results I'm looking for?

I currently have a very long column (5,000+) of which a lot of cells start with a range of zeros which I want to get rid of (the zero's that is). After importing the data from a txt file, I have a loop going through each row in turn getting data from different cells. So I could amend when teh data is being imported or during the loop reading the data.

Im trying to write a program that will do:
1.The average of the four numbers. This answer will be placed into a text box reserved for that value. This text box cannot be changed by the user.
2.The maximum and minimum values. These will be denoted by changing the color of the largest number green and the smallest number red.
3.The range of the numbers. The range is defined as the difference between the largest and smallest numbers. The range will be placed into its own text box, labeled as such. This text box cannot be changed by the user."

I wanted to make a flow chart with more than 50 labels (see this link for just a small portion of the flow chart [URL]). I looked all around but couldn't find one in VB 2008 with the same problem. but anyway, my questions are:
1. Is there a way to set the color of all the labels instead of just one by one say:
Label1.BackColor = Color.FromKnownColor(KnownColor.Control)
Label2.BackColor = Color.FromKnownColor(KnownColor.Control)
Label3.BackColor = Color.FromKnownColor(KnownColor.Control)
...
...
...
There should be a way to loop through them
2. Is there a way for search through the Labels and find for example Label14? or a label with tagindex of 14? I rather be able to find label 14 but the tag also works.
3. Is there a better way to represent flow charts and stuffs like that in VB 2008?

At my company, product is boxed and then placed on a scale/label printer set up in order to be weighed and labeled. The application running on the PC also records a record of each box in an MS Access Database which is then transferred to the main server. There is a separate access database for each scale PC and currently the only way our shipping department can print out a manifest for each pallet (which contains a list of all the boxes and their weights) is to open the correct access database and print out the report by entering the pallet number. Since there are six printer scales and the shipping person has no idea which scale it will be on just by looking at the number, she has to find the correct database through trial-and-error.
What I've been asked to do is create an application where she can simply type in the pallet number, and it will search each individual database for the number, then open the correct one where she can then print out the report without having to guess where it is. I've already figured out how to make the application open the database and report, but I don't know how to make it find which database the pallet record is contained in.Basically I want it to search a number of databases for a particular number in a field, and the return a value when it finds it of which database it is so that I can plug that in later. I have no idea how to do this and my searches online have proven fruitless.

I have simple columns and their respective sums. However, I exclude 1 particular value from each sum, like so [code]...
Now I need to exclude another value ("Awaiting Progression") from a second column called "PROGRESSION".
Since I already exclude value based on 1 column called CATEGORY, how do I change my =Sum(Code.ExcludeOthers(Fields!CATEGORY.Value,Fields!ACTION_PLAN_NEW.Value)) to exclude a value from the PROGRESSION column if it's = ("Awaiting Progression") ?

Create a program where the user can find the highest number and the smallest number from a list of values It needs to operate as follows: Enter a value (number) in the TextBox and click on a button [Add to list]. Once this is done, the program analyzes if the number is the highest entered or the smallest. To view which is the smallest and largest, a second button [highest and lowest] will populate fields (texboxes) with highest and lowest numbers. I've attached an image of what the program should look like.

I am finding specific words in the RichTextBox (in this case, "Hey!") and selecting them by getting their initial position through the "Find" command. Unfortunately, this does not work when I have multiple instances of "Hey!" in the RichTextBox. Here's an example:
Text in RichTextBox:
Hey! This is cool!
The Find command would return a value of 0 in this case. However, let's take a look at another scenario:
Text in RichTextBox:
In this case, the Find command would return a value of 0 again, but I want it to get the initial position of the second "Hey!" statement. I'm wondering how I can do this.

I am using asp.net with vb.net. I have created 2 listboxes; lstselect and lstroles. List boxes lstselect contains all of the available roles that can be added into lstroles.
