View 5 RepliesI have a DataGridView and I want to put it into a GroupBox. In VB6 it looked like this:So it is just a MsFlexGrid wrapped by a GroupBox. I've absolutely no idea, how to implement that in VB.NET.
I'd let it inherit from DataGridView, so it is a Control, and it has every Property of the DataGridView by default.Public Class CaptionedDataGridView Inherits DataGridView
There would also have to be a GroupBox:Private xGroupBox as GroupBox
The text property would be overrided by the text of the group box as well as some size and placement properties (Top, Left, Width, Height)Public Overrides Property Text As String
[Code]...
Finally, if I'd create a new CaptionedDataGridView somewhere it should draw itself with the GroupBox sorrounded. How do I get from where I am right now to where I want to be?
I'm trying to change the font size of a GroupBox caption (text). The problem is that if I change it, all the controls inside the box are changed accordingly. I want to change only the GroupBox font size. How to do it?

View 6 RepliesI have a groupbox with a number of textboxes. I want to loop through all the textboxes, get their value( text) and add them all together and show it in a final totaltextbox outside the groupbox. This is what i have done but it does not work. The totaltextbox values do not change. Here is my code :
Private Sub AGroupBox_VisibleChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles AGroupBox.VisibleChanged

View 1 RepliesI'm creating a GroupBox at runtime and setting its Text property. Usually, the text is only on one line, but sometimes it wraps. The problem is that the controls contained in the GroupBox cover up the GroupBox's text.
What I'd like to do is determine if and when the text wraps. Specifically, I'd like to determine how much extra height the wrapped text takes up as compared to a single line. That way, I can reposition the GroupBox's controls and adjust its height.
Initially, I thought I'd do this by calling the GroupBox's CreateGraphics() method, and using the Graphics to measure the string. Something like this:
[Code]...
The problem is that the size generated by g.MeasureString(text, grp.Font) doesn't seem to be accurate. I determined that it wasn't accurate by putting enough of a single character to cause a wrap, then measuring the resulting string.
For example, it took 86 pipes (|) to until a wrap happened. When I measured that string, its width was ~253. And it took 16 capital W's to force a wrap - its string had a width of ~164. These were the two extremes that I tested. My GroupBox's width was 189. (a's took 29 and had a width of ~180, O's took 22 and had a width of ~189)
I would like all additional forms opened by some command the user performs on the Form1 to open in the center of Form1, no matter where the user has physically moved Form1 on their desktop screen. The application itself (Form1) is a small box with dimensions of 442x306 that will open even smaller forms on top of itself. Right now, I have everything positioned to open in the center of the screen so, in theory, everything works/looks fine as long as the user doesn't move Form1 anywhere.
View 15 Repliesi have a sort of problem when i try to add some linklabels in my groupbox. I used this
Me.Controls.Add(Groupbox3)
Groupbox3.Controls.Add(FlowLayoutPanel)

View 2 RepliesHere using VB .Net 2008. I seem to be having trouble getting group boxes to appear when I click a radio button.
For example:
CODE:
This indeed brings up the first radio button however I have other groupboxes underneath which with the same code will not appear when the radio button is checked.
Eg:
CODE:
The second groupbox does not appear and is directly behind the first groupbox. The Top code doesn't seem to be working either.

View 8 RepliesI am using a solution called AdvancedHMI for building an interface to PLC. I a label setup that reflects the value of a certain integer coming from the PLC. This is my question, how can I take the label caption and record it into a database every 5 minutes, or hour, etc.? I already have the stringconnection made to a test db in my sample file, I just don't know vb well enough to do this. What I'm getting at is I want to record several temperature values at certain intervals. The amount of time between doesn't need to be change often, but it would be nice if it could be changed by user.

I cannot get a tool-tip to appear over a DataGridView object, although checking Microsoft's advice, it should do so, as I assume I have a DatSource property NOT set to 'Nothing' for the said DGV. ( I believe this is right, as the columns sort alphabetically, when I click the column headers ! As normal ) If I can get this to work, is there a way to get the underlying data from a Mouse Hover ( Cell Enter ) event, from the cell in question to modify the Tool-Tip's caption ?
