Oct 23, 2011I am developing app in VB.NET that should have HTML requests and getting responses as string. Now I am using this code:

But when I run this code, my program froze for a little bit, until this URL content is loaded. I searched over google and I didn't find anything about this. I tried using Classes and Modules, but with both of those it's frizzing again. Can someone explain me how to run this in background, so program won't froze, and when it get's downloaded to return data?

May 17, 2010I have a datagrid with a list of items. Each item has an url for a picture. For each item I have to download the picture from the url, and then show it in the grid. This takes quite a long time, and freezes my application while running.
Is it possible to do this in the background, while allowing the user to take other actions? For example, scrolling down the list to see the items that have been loaded. Or clicking on an item in the list, which calls another function. Maybe doing something on a different form. And doing this while the list continues to load in the background.

VS 2010 Function For Changing Picturebox Background Image With String?
Mar 1, 2012What I have done is named a bunch of picture boxes "Q," "W," "E," etc. (the whole alphabet) and named picture that correspond to these picture boxes ("Q.png," "W.png," and so on) and added them to my resources.
For example, the following code would give the picture box named "Q" it's corresponding image "Q.png":

Q.BackgroundImage = My.Resources.Q
Of course, it's kind of a pain in the backside to copy and paste this code and change all the Q's to W's and so on, so I was hoping to create a function to do the job for me:

Hopefully I've provided enough detail so that it is obvious what I'm trying to do.

Custom Background Form - MDI Parent?
Jan 7, 2012I used a custom form in visual studio. I had set the parent form for mdicontainer as true. When I try to load the childform and the code is form2.show then my design for a custom form image is working but when I add the code:
form2.show form2.mdiparent = mdiparent it won't.
I had set the transparency as = red
backgroundcolor = red
formstyle = none
backgroundimagestyle = none
Everything works fine using a .gif image custom form image but when I put a code "mdiparent" it won't. It is important to put "form2.mdiparent=mdiparent" so that when I clicked the background image which is the "form1" or the parent form the form2 will not go to the back page of form1. It is possible to disable the click event of form1 so that when I clicked it the form2 will not go to its back.

The result? The form continously draws onto itself, without clearing the last circle. This means that you end up with a 'line' of spheres together.
To clarify:
X is well, the X-Coords
Y is Y- Y-Coords
X_Dir is an integer, it is added to every iteration of the loop so the next time the loop iterates, it'll be at a different location;
Y_Dir is the same but for the Y Coords;
CollisionDetect() Is empty. It is yet to be filled, it will handle the collision with the sides of the forms. W, H are width and height, respectively.
