i have 2 tables 1 for students and the other for absences and i linked them.i also entered data to absence table..Now i created new form and inserted two date time pickers (dtpFrm ,dtpTo ) and one button to display result as a report using crystal report.

I'm trying to print a record in vb.net(vb2008 express edition) and what I'm familiar with printing was using data report way back when i was in vb6.0 but when i moved to vb.net lately i heard about using crystal report but im not familiar with it so i don't really know how to start with.I know it sounds like im depending too much but what im just trying to ask is a little favor just to give me a brief heads up to start with it in a first place and i'll do the rest. For example,I would like to print a line of text which is "I'm a sweet lover". Please give me a complete procedures on how to start with it in setting these all up using crystal report which detects the default printer as well as its simple codes which corresponds to it.

I need advise on how to solve this scenario. I am not sure whether I should use any Report Application such as Crystal Report or I can just simply use datagridview.My scenario:In a new form, a table will show a least 3 columns.

2nd, Total Quantity Sold for the Current Month

Hence, I can compare the figure of the current month with the past few month.Right now, I do not have any problems building SQL_String for calculating the Total Qty Sold for the Current month and display it via DataGridView. I am trying to convert a VB6 Data Report (.dsr file) to a Crystal Report through the migration process within Visual Studio. I have read articles that reference adding a Data Report to a Project from Visual Studio 2005/2008 and that it will convert the Data Report to a Crystal Report, but I have not been successful in doing so. Does the VB6 Data Environment need to be converted too? Has anyone been able to do this successfully and if so, how?

I m using vb.net with access 2007. I have field with datatype "datetime" and values in format dd/mm/yyyy e.g 8/2/2011. Now I have problem when i fire a query SELECT * FROM tbl_name WHERE tbl_name.datefield= (Select Max(tbl_name.datefield) from tbl_name)); I have some records with dates 11/1/2011 and some records with dates 8/2/2011 but I get wrong result records with date 11/1/2001 instead I want records with date 8/2/2011
