May 10, 2011I am trying to create a code where I placed sets of numbers in an array.I'll use a masktextbox to have the user enter the numbers to match what's in the array. If the user enters the number, ex: social, and the data is correct (matches the numbers in the array), something happens if the number entered in the masktextbox does not match any of the number sets in an array then another thing happens.The masktextbox so far only validates format and gets number only, however, I want the number entered to match whats in the array.

When it is set to true, the data column can be accessed with no problem. Any suggestions as to how to correct this? Feb 13, 2012It seems that on clicking datagridview column header, the column will be automatically sorted based on the column type. I have a column showing some numbers. If column type is string, it sorts "1","20","3" into "1","20","3". If column type is double, it sorts into "1","3","20" which is the result that I want. However, there might be some erros in the numbers and error messages(text) will show in the cell instead of numbers. So I cannot set the column type as double. I want to ignore these error messages and sort all the numbers. How can I do this?
Also, I need to add some background colors to different rows in datagridview. So in the column header click event, I call the bkgColor Sub to achieve this. My question is that how can I override the sorting method in this event?

Aug 4, 2009I have a datagrid that I am unable to change the width setting, it always reverts back to the original setting.
To change this setting:
1. select the datagrid view tasks
2. Edit columns bound column properties
3. Select Width property
4. Width property will always revert back to the original setting.
I have check the properties settings without any luck.

Asp.net - Fixing Column Data Type And Duplicate Column?
Nov 30, 2010This is my programs complete code, the only problem is i want to fix the amount of decimal places that show up in my gridview. The problem is if i do this on the asp side the location of the column gets thrown off and the column is duplicated. I figured if i just remade the table on the asp side it would work only problem is if i remove the sql for that particular column the asp side column cannot get data.

Aug 9, 2010I have several controls on aWinForm (VS2010) which are bound to an SQL database table via a Dataset, BindingSource and TableAdapter (all bindings created via the IDE). When i try to update the daatbase table with changes made in the form controls using:

I'm getting the following error message: Cannot set column 'SalesTeam'. The value violates the MaxLength limit of this column Now on the surface the problem would seem self explanatory and the solution quite obvious. However i'm not changing the 'salesTeam' data, so it's exactly the same as it came out of the database and consequently it must be the same length. the data is two characters, the database field is a Char(2) data type and the datatable field has MaxLength = 2. So i can't see what's causing the problem or what i can do to resolve it
I've tried changing the data in the relevant textbox to just one character, but it still throws up the same error I've tried changing the SalesTeam DataTable field to MaxLength = 4, but it still throws up the same error I've tried reconfiguring the TableAdapter, but it still throws up the same error
I know my code is good because it works for other datatables that other controls in the same form are bound to. I'm I doing something wrong or missing something obvious or has anyone come up against this before

Sep 5, 2010I wrote a function to format numbers like this: 123456100,12 -> 123.456.100,12 (I have a function too, which converts numbers from this strings).Now, I have a dgv and a column with these numbers (or rather strings). The sort mode is set to automatic. If I sort the column, it doesn't work, because the values are not really numbers, but strings. But I get the same result (the sorting doesn't work), if I use the formatnumber function (this returns strings too).
I could use the programmatic sort mode and before sorting I format the strings to numbers, then sort the column, and then format the numbers like above. But this is a bit slow (the dgv has appr. 800 rows), and in this case, I haven't an arrow next to the column header text.is it possible to sort the column like a normal number-column with automatic sortmode?

I want the row to have the cells correspond to the columns in a datagridview, so that when I add data to the cells i can call the column name (the columns are likely to change around, so i think the name is better to use then the index).I create the row using the following code:

and the column using the following code:

However at runtime I get the exception Column named Reference cannot be found. Parameter name: columnName I have a sneaking suspicion that the cells cannot be accessed with the column name because the row isnt really attached to columns yet (the row hasnt been added to the datagridview yet. (I tried cloning the cells of a row and then adding them to the row but no success)?

Am using the Entity Framework and Columns Completed and Taken are of bit Datatype. When the query results are displayed in the datagridview, these bit columns are returned as of ColumnType Textbox - so i get a Datagridview textbox column with true or false string values.
I want to display Completed and Taken as Checkbox columns (either ticked for True or un-ticked for false) but ofcourse i can't do this in EditColumn dialogue because the Datagridview is unbound.
