Datagridview Tab Key - Ignore Column(2) So That The User Only Tabs Through The Rows In Column(1)?

i have a datagridview with three columns. i set the first column to visible=false, so the user can only see two columns.when the user presses the tab key in the first visible column -- column(1), i want to ignore column(2) so that the user only tabs through the rows in column(1)i can't get it to work. it will always tabs through the rows in column(2) even if i use the column name.
But this code will add columns to every rows in the gridview. How can I change the code so that it only add the column to row one instead of every row?
I have a DataSet that contains 1 DataTable, and the DataTable contains only 1 row of data. I want to loop through all columns in that row and say:
Column name = column value
so for example if the column name is FAVORITE_FOOD and the value is pizza, I should display FAVORITE_FOOD = pizza I can get the column name from column.ColumnName and the value from Rows(0).Item(0), but for the life of me I can't put it all together in a simple loop.
It seems that on clicking datagridview column header, the column will be automatically sorted based on the column type. I have a column showing some numbers. If column type is string, it sorts "1","20","3" into "1","20","3". If column type is double, it sorts into "1","3","20" which is the result that I want. However, there might be some erros in the numbers and error messages(text) will show in the cell instead of numbers. So I cannot set the column type as double. I want to ignore these error messages and sort all the numbers. How can I do this?
Also, I need to add some background colors to different rows in datagridview. So in the column header click event, I call the bkgColor Sub to achieve this. My question is that how can I override the sorting method in this event?

How will I know if the use click only at the first column? I have two columns in the datagridview and populated with data, what I want to achieve is that the user need to click only on first column and not to other columns.

Am using the Entity Framework and Columns Completed and Taken are of bit Datatype. When the query results are displayed in the datagridview, these bit columns are returned as of ColumnType Textbox - so i get a Datagridview textbox column with true or false string values.
I want to display Completed and Taken as Checkbox columns (either ticked for True or un-ticked for false) but ofcourse i can't do this in EditColumn dialogue because the Datagridview is unbound.
Is there a way to allow the user to only type in a certain number of characters in a datagridview column? Like a invoice number can only be 1-6 digits long and I want to stop them from typing more than 6 digits.
I have a DataGridView, bound to a dataset. All the columns are sortable (.ColumnSortMode.Automatic). The user may change data in certain columns, although not the first ("key") column. When data gets changed on a row, I change the backcolor for that row (to show it as dirty). At some point, the user will do something with all of these changes.
My problem is that I still want the user to be able to resort the data by any of those columns. When it's sorted, though, I lose the backcolors that I changed. I do know which rows are dirty, this is just a cosmetic issue. Isn't there a way to retain those backcolors, or any other such row attribute?

So now I use a number ( In this case: 1 ) for the column index, but I want to make it a bit more readable so now I want to obtain the column index based on the datagridview column name.[code]...

Is there a way to make a DataGridView's column a combo ONLY in the "new row", and a read only textbox in all other rows? I am trying to add the sum of a datagrid column to a textbox. There was a similir question in this forum but it doesnt add the sum of all the rows of that column to my textbox.
Me.SubtotalTextBox.Text = ABTDBDataSet.Products.Compute("sum(UnitPrice)", String.Empty) What else do I need to add to get the whole rows sum of one column and show up in the textbox.
