How will I know if the use click only at the first column? I have two columns in the datagridview and populated with data, what I want to achieve is that the user need to click only on first column and not to other columns.
View 3 RepliesIt seems that on clicking datagridview column header, the column will be automatically sorted based on the column type. I have a column showing some numbers. If column type is string, it sorts "1","20","3" into "1","20","3". If column type is double, it sorts into "1","3","20" which is the result that I want. However, there might be some erros in the numbers and error messages(text) will show in the cell instead of numbers. So I cannot set the column type as double. I want to ignore these error messages and sort all the numbers. How can I do this?
Also, I need to add some background colors to different rows in datagridview. So in the column header click event, I call the bkgColor Sub to achieve this. My question is that how can I override the sorting method in this event?

I need to be able to double-click a row or column in a row to use a field (in this case the Student ID field, the 4th column if counting form 0) to get that row from a database onto a separate form and be able to edit and save it. I have no idea how to make this happen since it is not covered in the class beyond basically displaying database data in DataGridView, I chose to use this functionality in my final project (to be fancy I guess) with the thought that it will be easy to accomplish but am finding it is not quite as easy as I thought. View 2 RepliesI have a DataGridView with SelectionMode = "CellSelect". I do this because I want the user to be able to click the Column Header and drag the column to a different DisplayIndex. They move the column by clicking and holding down the left mouse button, then moving the column. I also want the user to be able to click the column header and all the cells in the column would be selected. I have a dgv with a column type = DataGridViewAutoFilterCheckBoxColumn. I want to know if there's a way to I can get that entire column to become disabled (or Enabled = False) so it won't let the user click on the checkboxes. I tried looking in the "Bound Column Properties" but there isn't an option to disable the entire column.

I have a listview set up in Details View and I run a ascending/descending sort routine on the appropriate column when the user clicks one of the column headers.However, when I switch companies and reload the listview with new information, for some reason the event fires and I get an indexoutofrange exception as I believe that the information has not yet loaded when this fires.The e.Column property is set to that of the previous column which I clicked even though I have clicked nothing.

View 7 RepliesI have a DataGridView, bound to a dataset. All the columns are sortable (.ColumnSortMode.Automatic). The user may change data in certain columns, although not the first ("key") column. When data gets changed on a row, I change the backcolor for that row (to show it as dirty). At some point, the user will do something with all of these changes.
My problem is that I still want the user to be able to resort the data by any of those columns. When it's sorted, though, I lose the backcolors that I changed. I do know which rows are dirty, this is just a cosmetic issue. Isn't there a way to retain those backcolors, or any other such row attribute?
I'm having a problem with my DataGridView. When I double-click on any column, with exception to Date & Time, the grid advances by 1. As you can see the 2nd row is highlighted in blue, I actually double-clicked on the first one, under "Sent By." (See attached image)

When they first start using the application, they can single click on the buttons in the flash movie and button responds accordingly. But after a while (and I haven't been able to pin-point an exact thing that changes it or my issue would be solved), the user has to double-click on the button in the flash movie for them to work.

Am using the Entity Framework and Columns Completed and Taken are of bit Datatype. When the query results are displayed in the datagridview, these bit columns are returned as of ColumnType Textbox - so i get a Datagridview textbox column with true or false string values.
I want to display Completed and Taken as Checkbox columns (either ticked for True or un-ticked for false) but ofcourse i can't do this in EditColumn dialogue because the Datagridview is unbound.

View 17 RepliesI have a DataGridView (dgv) on a Windows form (VB.NET) which is bound to a datatable. One of the bound columns is a an ID (Foreign Key) to another datatable. All I want to do is Hide the ID column and populate an unbound column with the Name (ParmName) for the user. I searched the foreign value in the datatable and retrieved the information. I set the Value of the cell in the Datarow. All works well, but does not display. The cell accepts the value...I can even Debug.Print the values to the console. They are there just nothing displaying in DataGridView. Nothing odd about DataGridView. Should be straight forward...
