Some codes here on how could I validate my datagridview? I mean, a certain column on my datagridview should accept integers only, otherwise, it will return a messagebox. Kindly include on which event it should be posted.

From there I hope to have it edited by a person and programmatically at runtime. However, I noticed that when I import a file that has integers in a column, it will not import any of the string values in that column. View 16 RepliesI was curious if there is an easy way, besides making a new custom DataGridViewColumn, that on each keystroke validation is done (while the D.G.V.TextBoxCell is being edited), instead of when focus is lost off the cell.Or in a different senerio, if there is a way to restrict user keystrokes while a D.G.V.TextBox Cell is being edited, while not relying on making a new custom DataGridViewColumn. I would go through the work of implementing this new Column, except the customer for the job I am working at wants small, managable code. And even if this is a useful feature, they would want to avoid having an extra class being made.

But the problem is it's getting input like MM/dd/yyyy and after pressing enter it's changing to dd/mm/yyyy style. So is it possible to read input like "dd/MM/yyyy".
I have a DataGridView where Cell_Validating is being done. I have a Cancel button on my form that allows the user to exit out of the DataGridView changes. The problem is that if a cell was currently flagged as in error, I cannot exit and remove columns from the DataGridView. I get the following error: Operation did not succeed because the program cannot commit or quit a cell value change. I am having a problem on setting the SQL CE table column a field type. What field type does a column that only accepts only two inputs..
Example: If a table has a column named Gender..it should only accepts two types of input...like Make or Female.
I'm using visual basic 2010 and i am able to import the raw data from excel and into my datagirdview but i am unable to get the code to add the values of raw data in column 2 and 3 and show the answer in column 5. Do i need to loop it?

I have a DataGridView (dgv) on a Windows form (VB.NET) which is bound to a datatable. One of the bound columns is a an ID (Foreign Key) to another datatable. All I want to do is Hide the ID column and populate an unbound column with the Name (ParmName) for the user. I searched the foreign value in the datatable and retrieved the information. I set the Value of the cell in the Datarow. All works well, but does not display. The cell accepts the value...I can even Debug.Print the values to the console. They are there just nothing displaying in DataGridView. Nothing odd about DataGridView. Should be straight forward...

In a DatagridView I have databound checkboxcolumns. But if I check or uncheck multiple checkboxes, not all changes are saved. (It doesn't trigger the property Set method on all, maybe on every 2nd). When I use a datagridview and setting the EditMode to OnEnter I get the red exclamations telling me that I have an error when this is needed. This works all good. when I click the save button on the BindingNavigator, the application saves the record even when this validation is showing. View 1 RepliesIt seems that on clicking datagridview column header, the column will be automatically sorted based on the column type. I have a column showing some numbers. If column type is string, it sorts "1","20","3" into "1","20","3". If column type is double, it sorts into "1","3","20" which is the result that I want. However, there might be some erros in the numbers and error messages(text) will show in the cell instead of numbers. So I cannot set the column type as double. I want to ignore these error messages and sort all the numbers. How can I do this?
Also, I need to add some background colors to different rows in datagridview. So in the column header click event, I call the bkgColor Sub to achieve this. My question is that how can I override the sorting method in this event?

Am using the Entity Framework and Columns Completed and Taken are of bit Datatype. When the query results are displayed in the datagridview, these bit columns are returned as of ColumnType Textbox - so i get a Datagridview textbox column with true or false string values.
I want to display Completed and Taken as Checkbox columns (either ticked for True or un-ticked for false) but ofcourse i can't do this in EditColumn dialogue because the Datagridview is unbound.
