Get Parameter From HTML OBJECT
Dec 10, 2011
I start making app for one Facebook game (to make easier playing that game) Key thing is that I need to get few parameters from HTML source when game is loaded in WebBrowser control. But, problem is that parameters doesn't really exist in HTML source. They are generated in game loading and when I you Firefox or Chrome and click "View Source" I can't see them. When I use FireBug on FF or Chrome developer tools I see them like this on picture:

I have various shape objects, and I want each unique shape to implement a saveToDB method that simply calls a DB object that implements a Save method with an object as its input paramter. This DB.Save method will be a long case function that implements the proper SQL commands based on the type of attributes possessed by the input parameter object.how do I implement the SaveToDB method in my Shape class? Is it something like this:
Function Shape.SaveToDB
DB.Save(Me)
End Function
The goal here is to let each shape save itself without it knowing anything about database operations; I want to isolate db-specific information in my intermediary DB object, so the DB object will have to figure out what type of object wants to be saved into the SQL database and then execute whatever SQL instructions are needed. And then if I override the SaveToDB method in each shape subclass, I can avoid the case statement entirely, replacing it with a series of unique methods such as db.SaveCircle (ob), db.SaveSquare (ob), etc., sincle the caller already knows what it is.

I have an object, called 'PERSON' This person object has a title, firstName & Surname property as well as many other which are at the moment irrelevant. It also has a read only property called Fullname which concatenates the two or three parameters mentioned above depending on an optional parameter 'withTitles' passed over when you call PERSON.FULLNAME
PERSON.FULLNAME(true) <- Will add titles if there are any
PERSON.FULLNAME(false) <- Will give the name without the title
Public ReadOnly Property FullName(Optional ByVal withTitle As Boolean = False) As String
[Code]...
I get an error: PERSON does not contain a property of 'FullName'. If I change this to any other property that does not take a parameter it works as expected. Now I'm guessing that the binding procedure can't handle optional or mandatory parameters for object properties, is this right? Is there a better way to do it? I thought about looping through the collection to add them manually but that kinda defeats the object of DataBinding!

I'm currently working on being able to import a DLL written in Fortran into Visual Basic. I've got all the basics down, so now I'm trying to take it a step further. The title basically says it all, but I'll explain what it is I'm trying to do anyways.
For kicks and giggles, let's just assume I want to pass an object that has three double values in it, possibly representing a point in space in three dimensions. In my Fortran method, I want to take that object, print out the x value, then change the x value to 7.5. Here's my Fortran code that does just that.[code]...

How can I get the name of the object that was passed byref into a method?
Example:
Dim myobject as object
sub mymethod(byref o as object)
debug.print(o.[RealName!!!!])
end sub
[code]....
I'm using this for logging. I use one method multiple times and it would be nice to log the name of the variable that I passed to it. Since I'm passing it byref, I should be able to get this name, right?This would give you the parameter name in the method and it's type, but not the name of the variable that was passed byref.
using system.reflection
Dim mb As MethodBase = MethodInfo.GetCurrentMethod()
For Each pi As ParameterInfo In mb.GetParameters()
[code]....
If you put that in "mymethod" above you'd get "o" and "Object".

I'm writing a solution where the data entities are passed to clients using datasets through a WCF service, with nHibernate as ORM. My predecessor has written some translator classes, converting datasets to entities and vice versa. In most cases he's declared the return object as a parameter for the object.
For example:
Public Shared Function CreateEntity(ByVal ds As DataSetObject, ByVal entity As EntityObject) As EntityObject
Dim row As ds.EntityObjectRow = ds.EntityObject(0)
entity.Id = row.Id
[code]....
He's not with the company anymore, so I can't ask him why he's done it this way. Hence my question here. Is there some performance gain, or traceablity thing with nHibernate by using the first implementation rather than the latter?

I am trying to send an object created in JavaScript to an ASP.NET PageMethod. This object mirrors the properties of an existing custom business object, so i was hoping that i could pass a single object instead of a parameter for each property. I am getting an error "Unknown web method SavePart when attempting to use this method.

var pt = { Id: 1, Onhand: 20, LowPoint: 30, __type: 'Custom.Objects.Part'};

I am having trouble with a mySQL query with the .NET connector. When I create the query, it automatically creates my parameters as objects. I usually change the type to the correct type, which in this case is Date, but I get different results passing in the parameter as a date.When I do "Preview Query" as an object, I get the correct results, but bad results as a Date. I would just leave them as objects, but it errors out when I try to pass a date in.Here's the part of my query that I'm having trouble with:
(Tickets.Resolved >= str_to_date(@startDate, '%m/%d/%Y')) AND (Tickets.Resolved <= str_to_date(@endDate, '%m/%d/%Y')) AND
(Tickets.Status = 'resolved' OR
Tickets.Status = 'rejected')

I have the following code:
Private Sub setDropdowns()
Using licensingModel As New licensingEntities
[code]....
My problem is that i dont know how to define the parameter type for the sub. Because they are different types of objectSets being passed each time, I thought IObjectSet(Of EntityObject) would work, but it gives me the following error:
Unable to cast object of type 'System.Data.Objects.ObjectSet1[licensingModel.tblLookup_Country]' to
type
'System.Data.Objects.IObjectSet1[System.Data.Objects.DataClasses.EntityObject]'

I made an object that has several properties one of which is an integer.
I put all the objects into a list, and I wish to sort that list by the integer property, with the object with the highest property at item 0, with the object with the lowest property at the highest item # ( count -1).
I made the list of that item, as in
Dim GameList as new list(of clsGame)
And I wish to do something like the following
GameList.Score.Sort()
What is the syntax to do that? I looked up the MSDN and didn't really understand what it was trying to say

Okay normally this was easy to do, but now with IE9 Visual Studio 2010 hangs and crashes. The problem seems to be even worse because you can't build an Interop.mshtml.dll to match version 9. I've tried using the VS command prompt with no luck. Allegedly this is how it is done, but there are no known examples that actually work. If anyone has done this with success

I have some data that is contained in HTML tables within a webpage. I need the simplest means of extracting the data for storeage in SQL tables. I am knowledgeable of how to add the data to SQL tables...this portion of the code is already written. I would like to pull the data into the VB.NET 2008 environment using the XML DOM or a more efficient option.

I'm using win7 64bit + express 2010. in the program, I need refer to Microsoft HTML Object Library. So, I added it, then I found, it can not be "copy local". I remeber it could before when I use oit on vista + 2008.
Now, the question is: how can I include it in the setup? since some users may not have this dll on their pc.

I tried using it and to get it to work I had to add some code to my project:
Public Enum HRESULT
S_OK = 0
S_FALSE = 1
E_NOTIMPL = &H80004001[code].....
I didn't like the fact that I had to use the MSHTML stuff (cause I think IE uses it also, and we all know that IE sucks :) ) and that I had to add code the make it work.Don't want to start a browser-war thread so neglect my last remark.Is there a different (/better) approach of parsing html-pages in VB.Net.Basically what I'm trying to do is get all the links (<a> tags) and embeds (<object> tag) on a page.

I am grabbing an HTMLElement from a browser object and then using getElementById to grab the element I want. When the element is grabbed into the HtmlElement object double quotes around attributes like <input type="checkbox" name="test1" /> becomes <input type=checkbox name=test1>.It is removing the double quotes and backslash from the HTML available in the HtmlElement. Is there anyway to get the HTML element from Visual Basic .NET code and keep the true HTML formatting?

This may sound really stupid but I have to ask cause I'm not finding this answer anywhere.I have an application where the user will need to sign up for a new user account on the website [URL]..However when I am using Firefox's plug-in Firebug to view html I am getting something totally different than when I just right click on the site and view the page source.
What I am trying to do is to get the captcha from the website and display it in a picturebox on the application so the user can view the captcha, solve the captcha and then the app post is back to the service for a response.
Here is the source that I am getting using Firefox's Firebug to inspect the element:
<td>
<input type="hidden" value="Oo3Jo1I8bgzK68agMqo3s79ZZib2OkbK" name="iden">
<img class="capimage" src="/captcha/Oo3Jo1I8bgzK68agMqo3s79ZZib2OkbK.png" alt="i wonder if these things even work">
</td>
[Code]...
Why would the two be showing me two different versions of the HTML?
And how would you be able to grab that source to view in a picturebox using webclient?

How do I make my program catch the submit, process it and spit out the new info out to the webbrowser item in vb2005 winform?

Usage: Users create pretty HTML news letters in another app. They post the newsletter to the web, but they also want to set the contents of the HTML news letter file as the body of an email and send it using Application In Question. The users understand to use absolute link and image references when sending an E Newsletter. Environment:
AIQ is a VB.Net app deployed via ClickOnce. It is an intranet app; one can be sure MS Office 2003 and the interop 11 dlls are on the target machines.
Restrictions: MAPI is out. It mangles the HTML. Since it is a ClickOnce deployment, we can't register dlls (I think, correct me if I am wrong). Therefore CDO and COM is out (again, I may be wrong.... I would be happy to be proven so).

I am trying to call a public subroutine from a Windows form based on a string variable containing the name of the subroutine. The subroutine is a procedure in a code module and works fine when called by using the procedure name directly. The VB.net function CallByName should work, but I don't know how to specify the module name as the "Object Ref" parameter.
In the code shown, "ReportLibrary" is a module containing the public sub with the name contained in the string strReportProcedure.

What am I missing or is it just not possible to call a routine from a module using CallByName?
