I have a very high screen resolution on my laptop: 1400x1050.My colleague tried it out on his laptop (which had lesser resolution), and the application did not fit on his laptop. The buttons were dragging out of the screen space.So, I want my application to automatically resize/adjust based upon the screen resolution.I don't want to use Maximized screen option and don't want to change user's pc settings.Unfortunatly I am not using Table Layout panel.

Reduce The File Size / Resolution of The Picture?

Apr 19, 2009

I have a database application in which a user can add up to 6 pictures to each record. This pictures are not directly saved in the database but in a sub folder of the applicvation folder. Now, the problem is that lots of the pictures of users were taken on a digital camera with highest resolution - in these days it means that the picture files have a file size of 3MB.I would like to reduce the file size / resolution of the picture, so that the database can load and view this files more smoothly (I am not in need of a thumbnail preview, just want the pictures being a bit smaller).

The way pictures get attached / linked / 'inserted' to a database record is via OpenFileDialog. When a user selects a picture file it gets copied into the applications picture folder and renamed to the record ID of the actual record + number of the pic added.How could I reduce the picture size during adding it (OpenFileDialog / copying to folder)?

How To Create A Bitmap Image Using A Text File

Jan 9, 2010

I am trying to convert from a text file to an image(bitmap) file.
For example, test.txt: 01 23 34 56 78 90

[Code]....

The first step will be reading the data, so I created some VB codes:

Dim openFileDialog1 As New OpenFileDialog()
openFileDialog1.Filter = "Text Files (*.txt)|*.txt"
openFileDialog1.Title = "Select a text File"
' Show the Dialog.

' If the user clicked OK in the dialog and ' an image file was selected, open it.

If openFileDialog1.ShowDialog() = DialogResult.OK Then
' Open file.
[Code]...

The second step will be converting the data to some data format which can be used in a bitmap image. This part is making me confused. Some codes I made is listed below:

Public Sub SaveToImage()
Dim SFD As New SaveFileDialog

PS: I have modded a little bit this datagridview so it looks like a gantt chart with collapsible rows, and variable & multiple timelines at the same time, so the bars might go a long way to the right of the screen, that the main reason for the save to bitmap.

Resolution-based Resizing?

Jun 7, 2010

Usually I am a web developer so this is probably a very novice question. I recently made an app in VB2008, but I developed it in a huge reso (1920x1200). The person that will be using it still uses 800x600 reso. Is there any simple way I can resize the entire interface to fit any resolution? I didn't really think about it at all while I was making the program.
