Getting A .NET 4.0 Site Working On GoDaddy Or Another Shared Host

I have a .NET 4.0 web application that I'm trying to get working on a GoDaddy shared hosting plan. It's their best windows one and from a requirement point of view on paper they have everything I need.

I was going to use the asp.net charting with Visual Studios 2008 but GoDaddy hosting does not support the charting cause they won't install the component. So what are my options for charting/graphs for data? Looking for free if possible.
I have created my site using ASP.NET Personal Starter Kits 3.5. I use Visual Studio 2008 only . .with its built-in SQL Server (2005 Express) ... my database in App_Data is ASPNETDB.MDF ...I have created some of my tables also ....in ASPNETDB ..In my local PC the site was running fine ...But when I publish my site on production server it doesn't work and shows the following error
I am working on an addin/plugin for CAD software called Solidworks. I use it to batch process files (print, save, etc). One thing I'd like to add is a form that contains a stop button to stop the loop. The problem is that even if I use a background worker like I normally would for a standalone application, it still locks up when Solidworks is processing files. That's just normal operation for the program, the UI freezes when doing a cpu intensive operation such as loading or saving files, regardless of how I write my plugin. So my limited attempts at threading to get a form that won't freeze have been unsuccessful so far.
this is driving me absolutely crazy. I am trying to send an email through a web service written in C# through GoDaddy's servers (smtp.secureserver.net) but for some reason it's not working. Here's my code:
I created a vb form application that I want to query a SQL Server database that is hosted through godaddy. Below I have my function that calls the db and also my connection string in my app.config file. When it tries to open the connection I get the following: {"A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)"}. Do I have to set something on the godaddy end to allow a connection? Or can I only access the database from a web page on my site? [Code]
I am not sure if this is possiable but I am looking to build an application that will login to a web site, navigate the site and download files. I would like to do this all in code and able to run multiple instances of the program to get information from many different web sites. Is something like this possiable in VB.net?
Ive got an app that holds a list of site we have, At each site there are a few devices. The idea is when they click on a site all the details for the site are loaded and then a second thread sits and pings each device to see if its live. Im trying to do this in a seperate thread so if they click another site while its still pinging them it doesn't wait before it switches site. This all seems to be workling fine except if you click through the sites quickly, when you do that it will eventually come up with
Quote:
{"Collection was modified; enumeration operation might not execute."}
The error flags up on the "Next" line in "ThreadedPing"
Thread stuff
Public Sub ThreadedPing(ByVal dt As DataTable) Try
When i publish my program i choose to let the application check for updates via a website and if their is one update automatically when the program starts. Is their a way were on the main user form i can make it so that the user can change the update site with out me building the program again with the new site. I want to do this becuase the site i use goes down alot so when i changed the update url no one was able to download the update for the new update server.
I'm deploying a VB.Net app (VS 2010 Pro) that requiers the user click a command button to open IE to a financial WEB site and download informaion from the site. The app works fine in every detail when installed on the development computer. But, on the target computer when the command button is clicked an unhandled exception occurs which says: System.IO. FileNotFoundException:File Not found. My code behind the button is Shell("C:Program Files (x86)Internet Exploreriexplore.exe www,fidelity.com",AppWinStyle.NormalFocus)
This works fine on the development computer. Do I need a way to code this as a relative path? If so,can you tell me how this is done?Throughout the app I have written relative paths to needed files using paths like (Open(Environment. GEtFolderPath (Environment. SpecialFoldder.Desktop) + "File Name). They all work fine when deployed.
I'm being asked to maintain several internal-only web apps for my company. For testing, after making my changes, I've created some staging sites which make use of separate databases. As such, if my users were to mistakenly use this site as if it were the production site, they may enter important data and wonder where it "disappeared" to thinking it was the production server.
I'd like to create a big banner of some sort across the top of the staging site (which ONLY appears on the staging site) to remind my users that they are on the test site. I'd like recommendations on the best way to do this, with the following considerations:
IDE: Visual Studio 2008 Server: Windows 2003 with IIS 6 Language: VB.NET 2.0
It works, when I make getBar methods public, but I don't want to expose these unneccessarily. Why I can't call private shared methods from a public one in the same class is over my head. I'm using .net framework 4.0 in a web application.
when i am surfing in one site,i want to see the another URL...without going URL directly access the login......for example this is the login page url i want know automatic login to this page [URL]
I've taken over the maintenance of the website (ASP.NET VB) and on one particular page I noticed the below code
Inherits System.Web.UI.Page Public Shared UserNumber As String Private Sub Page_Init(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Init
[Code]....
My question is whether the variable UserNumber can be accessed or changed by any other user than the current one?
Given in the following language specification, for me at least, calling Db.Foobar() [In the following code] does not indeed call off to the Shared Constructors of the base classes. I am curious as to a) is this my own fault for doing something wrong or b) is this an error in the language specification[code]...
I seem to be drawing a blank. I'd like to create a "shared" variable that is shared with all instances of a class but not classes that inherit from it. For example.Class A: Shared list As New List(Of String): list.Add("A")
Class B Inherits A: list.Add("B")Class C Inherits B: list.Add("C")The end result I'd like is that any instance of A has just A in the list. Any instance of B has A and B in the list. Any instance of C has A, B, and C in the list. I can accomplish it by creating Instance variables, but I have to construct the list for each instance of a class. I'd like to construct it once for a specific point in the Hierarchy and then share it accross other instances of that class.
I am trying to add shared members in derived classes and use that values in base classes...
I have base
class DBLayer public shared function GetDetail(byval UIN as integer) dim StrSql = string.format("select * from {0} where uin = {1}", tablename, uin) end function end class
[Code]..
currently there is error using the tablename variable of derived class in base class but i want to use it i dun know other techniques if other solutions are better then u can post it or u can say how can i make it work? confused...
I have a website has already hosted on EasyCgi (suppose that it's called website1). I have to host another one (website2). So I created a folder called "website2" under the website1 root folder. then I FTP all the content of website2 to the "website2" folder.
How can I dynamically create a host name in ASP.NET? Like if people come to my site, I want to be able to dynamically create them a .Mysite.Com host name. I've seen this done at other sites before but can't seem to find documation on how to do it.
i need some help i want to create a chat but how to make it like you have winsock but are there none others and i got also a question im planning to buy a domain and if u use the dedicated ip can i host my chat then of that ip
I want to get the absolute host name from a URL that's in the format of a string. So far I have done it like this:[code]I need the host without the www for comparision purposes. If I have two strings "url...m" and "url...m" I'm interested in only seeing that they are both on the domain "url...m". Is there some fairly simple way to do this?
I'm making a winforms app in vb.net that connects to a mysql database on my webserver to read and write data, this all works fine. But i have to allow the users ip to remote connect to the database. Is it possible to give everyone access to the database? The user account will not have all rights an the data isn't very important if it got lost. The user account and connection details are hard coded.
I need to get the host out of the Request object. Which property should I use and why?
From MSDN:Uri.DnsSafeHost Property A String that contains the unescaped host part of the URI that is suitable for DNS resolution; or the original unescaped host string, if it is already suitable for resolution.
vs
Uri.Host Property A String that contains the host name. This is usually the DNS host name or IP address of the server.
My testing has been with the ASP.NET Development Server. Both of these always return localhost. Even when I put in 127.0.0.1, both return localhost.Reading on, the DnsSafeHost property will handle IPv6 addresses, as well as Unicode to ASCII conversion if needed. It can also account for IRI and IDN. Even though I currently don't care about these things, should I just use the DnsSafeHost property to be safe?
In my ignorance, I thought I could subscribe to any host, so I chose hostmonster, and copy files from Visual Web Developer to it, thereby creating my first website. Wrong! Hostmonster is linux-based, so the files won't copy without assigning an index page at the site. The rep at the host said that linux doesn't read the language(s) I've been using to develop pages, Visual Basic and C#.
