GridView With ImageButton > Populate Text Box With Comments?

It has been so long since I have coded a page in VB. For the life of me I just cannot remember how to do this. I have a GridView on an ASP page. Each row has a comment ImageButton. I already have the gridview and text box wrapped in a UpdatePanel. The gridview shows all of the correct information. I just need to add some code to populate the text box with the comment when a user clicks on that row's ImageButton.
The comments are stored in SQL 2005 DB if that makes a difference. Should I shove the comments inside a hidden field of the gridview or is there a function that will allow me to query the db for that specific comment. End goal would be to not refresh the page if possible.

I have a GridView which is continually rebound using a timer and is within an updatePanel so the page doesn't refresh continually (each row has a countdown sequence so the gridview needs to continually get updated). Inside the gridview i have an imagebutton with an OnClick method. Previously to get the OnClick method to fire I would make sure the gridView wasn't in an UpdatePanel and that the pageload databinding of the gridview was in an "If Not IsPostBack". With the Timer though I can't have the gridview binding an an "If Not IsPostBack" and it needs to be in an UpdatePanel. Is there a way to use an UpdatePanel and "If Not IsPostBack" and still get the OnClick method to be called?

I have created a connection string, and i am populating a dropdownlist with an ID from a sql database.I want to be able to click on a ID from the dropdownlist and run a query to populate a gridview with data. I have made the dropdownlist autopostback = Enabled. I am not getting an error.

I want to populate a checkbox field in a gridview.
I am using the Checked='<%# Convert.ToBoolean(Eval("Inactive")) %>' statement but the issue that I am facing is that in the database some records contain NULL for Inactive. If it encounters a 0 or 1 value it works fine but if NULL it throws an exception.
Kindly guide me how to populate the checkbox so that it should be unchecked even if the field is null.

I'd like to have a backgroundworker process data that will eventually populate a gridview in my windows form. I need to use a backgroundworker because the process takes a little while, normally causing the program to slow/freeze until it's opening and streaming connections.. If I used a generic list Class to hold data objects that I am pulling from SQL Server using Linq to sql to populate a datagridview would I need to make any modifications to the datagridview control to accomodate multiple columns or would I need to make any modifications to the generic list class to accomodate the multiple columns in a row that is typical of a record in SQL Server? And one more thing which I believe is the easy part. To bind the list to a datagrid view would I just use the datasource property of the datagridview control.

I have a typical data entry form to show one Customer. All textboxes, controls, etc. are bound to a BindingSource.
Clicking a button, I pop up another form with a DataGrid to show all Customers in a table, this way:

I have a table in Oracle that has a column with the Long data type. I create a simple recordset and bind it to a gridview.
Me.grdFollowup.DataSource = rsDataSet
Me.grdFollowup.DataBind()
All of the columns populate correctly except for the Long column. It returns a null for all rows. I have tested the SQL statement in Toad and it works perfectly. how to get an Oracle Long data type to populate in a gridview? This is driving me nuts

And it actually seems to work on first instance (altho im not sure the above is a good way to do it, but the problem is when use the pagination on the gridview I get the error

On the line

why I am getting this error and also is there a better way to do it ?

I having problem when I try to pass value from ImageButton to a controlparameter, then the update command can retrieve the value from control parameter to execute update statement.
I want to pass value Status=1 when ImageButton APPROVE is clicked, else pass value Status=2 when ImageButton REJECT is clicked.
Where and how should I assign value Status? When I run my code, I receive this error : Must declare the scalar variable "@Status".
Or any recommendation to pass the value Status?

I am writing a web page, on this web page there is a txtStart and txtEnd. Next to them I have Calendar ImageButtons. I would like to code it so when the ImageButton is clicked a calendar popup appears and when they select a date on the popup it goes away and the date is populated into the txt. Format MM/DD/YYYY. Can anyone help me? I have been looking online for hours now and only find solutions for C# users or for a seperate page all together. I am writing my code in VB and I cannot make new pages. I have 45 buttons on a form, Button1, Button2, Button3 to Button45. Each one has to have a Button?.Text value from a database eg. Button1.Text = "Beef", Button2.Text = "Cabbage", etc. In old VB6 I could use the Index value of each button to reference it, but in VB.Net there's no Index capability.
Is there a more elegant way to populate these buttons other than having a Select Case statement from 1 to 45 as below? [code]....

I have an Access Database that contains two tables. I would like to populate 10 text boxes on my form with the data from the tables. For example: Table1 has a list of names 1 thru 5 and I would like to have 5 text boxes on my form when the form is loaded to populate those names. I'm trying to populate a List Box or Combo Box (either or, I feel like both would be very similar in how the code is written) when you load the form. Here is what I have right now:

When you first open the program it gives you a form with either a list box or combo box (not sure which one I want to use yet) and then an add button to add a name to the list. It shows the from where you enter a name and then when you add a name it adds it to a text file that I have saved onto the desktop. It keeps the names on separate lines and I want each line in the text file to be an item in a list box...
