Is there a way to make a program in vb that can handle mailto links so for example it can be set as a default mail client:
if you go to a website and click on a mailto link then the vb program will open (like how you can set outlook to open when a mailto link is clicked), the mailto link will then go to a new message form where the to address of the mailto link will be placed in a textbox ..
I'm just curious as to how some software programs that I see out there have the ability to extract links & text from thousands of web pages at an extremely high and fast rate. Has anyone here, ever created a link or text extracting program the has the ability to parse many webpages and return data into a textbox? I know how to extract links via the webbrowser control, but it doesn't seem to parse/extract data at a very high & fast rate like many email, link & text extracting programs that I see out there.

I can't find out the correct answer how to highlight words in hyperlinks using richtextbox.
The program which I'm creating is blueskycorp scraper which when type some words in text box and found links to my questions puts in richtextbox like links.
But the problem I can't find out untill is just how to highlight not words but links in richtextbox to match founded words and highlight them in richtextbox where is extracted links and only I want to mark these links.
I included (as its a property compnay) photos, MS word docs and exel docs by creating links such as ths one:

when i publish the program and export it to another computer these links fail and the pgm crashes.
my webbrowser navigates to a webpage. I need to store all the links into a collection, I did find the code to do the job (on this forum) and it works, but there is a problem: there are more links on the page than those the code reads, like when i right click on a picture and choose "copy shortcut" I get a link that is not showing when I display the "view source" for the entire page. I can't figure out how to do it.

View 1 RepliesScenario: We are using a createwizard control to create users for our website. When the user has an email we simply send the user the email with their username and password saying their account has been created. Using MailMessage and SMTPClient.
Problem: When the user doesn't have an email (ex. temp employee, student) I need to be able to generate the email but have it open via the creator's mail client so that they can enter in an email themselves/see the username and password. Similar to @mailto functionality. Question: Is there a way to do this from the code behind? I have tried searching but everywhere is telling me to use MailMessage and SMTPClient which I don't need.

Outlook is causing some problems when being passed a mailto string with accented characters in it. Changing the codepage for my entire webpage that has this string on it solves this problem, but that causes other problems in the system, so I would not like to do that.
A string like such returns a lot of garbage characters:
"mailto:Helpdesk-someemail@email.com?subject=Mon bâtiment / Départementé / Bureau n'est pas répertorié"
Meanwhile, this cuts off the character after the "D"

Say I have a 5 GB file. I want to split it in the following way.
First 100 MB is on the file
The rest go some reserve file
I do not want to use readalllines kind of function because it's too slow for large files.
I do not want to read the whole file to the memory. I want the program to handle only a medium chunk of data at a time.

I wrote an application to handle a joystick with directinput. It works fine if it uses the handle of the main window but it doesnt happen the same if the handle is the one of the component that contains the joystick's operation.
I mean:
main form handle: 15
component handle (which is inside the window and the joystick needs the focus of this component to work): 25
It always work if the handle i initilizate the device is the main form (15).How can i use only the handle of the component?

My problem is in 5b. I cannot figure out how to select multiple items. I have tried using a wildcard but that doesn't seem to work. The zip files to be downloaded are all named in the following manner - 11-22(1).ZIP, 11-22(2).ZIP etc. Also, zip extensions vary from ZIP to zip. Don't know if casing makes a difference. What I currently have the program do is to click each file and begin download. All it's doing is clicking the last file in the list. Whole website is basically a JavaScript applet. View 3 RepliesI hope this post is in the correct forum. We have a folder on the server that has pdf files. The file names are in the format of 'report_name_propname_04_21_12.pdf'. The report_name is different as is the prop_name and 04 is the month, 21 is the day of month, and the 12 is the year. The goal is to have links on the web page that has the prop_name(s). When clicked it would display a list of months as links. ie 01,02,03,...11,12 under the propname link. When these month links are clicked the web page would display
a list of links of the pdf files. The part of displaying the pdf link I have. The question I have is how can this be achived in code? Is there a control for this functionality? I think it is like an Excel pivot table.
I'm working on a program that gets some info about a certain web page. But one of the features is it needs to find all the links to other webpages on THE SAME site (I think its called an internal link... not sure). I already figured out how to get the page's HTML code, now i just need to know how to find stuff like "" in the HTML code then output me [URL]
