I am reading a csv file in to a datatable in vb.net and making a few checks and appending an extra column. I then want to perform a bulk insert using microsofts Oracle.DataAccess (no choice in this) to an Oracle database. what would be the best way to perform this as there is no bulkImport like in SQLserver.

In my Windows Form I have a ComboBox that is filled by a Stored Procedure with a list of names. I have the Combobox set for AutoComplete to "Suggest" and From "ListItems". When a user starts to type in and the AutoComplete does not find any matches in the listitems the user can tab out of the ComboBox and leave what they typed in the combobox even though it is not one of the Valid Items. Is there a way to check the Comboxbox to make sure of of the selected Items has been selected?

I have created a VB 6.0 Active-x control for an ASP.NET application. The control is responsible for downloading files from Server to Client machine and installing them.In general will have a set of applications needs to be run in sequence order.Every time i try to install an application it asks for UAC prompt and then proceeds to installation.Functionally it is working fine. But my client requirement is UAC prompt should come for the first process only and should not prompt for the following installations.I am using CreateProcess() API method for installations.

I'm using VS2008, targetting the 3.5 framework.I'm getting sick of having to create a Control, then manually rename it later. Is there any way to force the Designer to ask me for the name in a Dialog as it is attempting to create the Control? Or even to autofocus to the Control Name in the Properties menu?

The question is self-explanatory. It would be great if the code was one line long (something to do with "Process.Start("...")"?). I researched the web but only found old examples and such ones that do not work (at least for me). I want to use this in my class library, to run Git commands

Before posting this question I have carried out a few searches on this forum but I am afraid I am struggling because I am very new to Visual Basic and although I do have some programming background, yesterday was day 1 and I took a web tutorial and watched a few video tutorials. (Long way to go!).
OK to the question and I know I should really not ask 2 but It's better to get them both in one post I think.
I want to build a small utility to run a form in full screen to basically hide an old application running in the background.
My old application is a database (Non VB code) which works very well but while it batch exports a lot of data the software displays some pretty ugly windows, I want to call my VB utility from a command prompt with 1 or more switches to display some meaningful text about where it is in the routine.
I also want to be able to send a switch at the end to close it completly.
Q1 - What is the best way to manage command prompt switches ?
Q2 - How do I make it close itself ?

I've mainly been doing ASP programming up 'til now, and I have a pretty simple question.
I'm creating a program that will copy a selected file to a selected directory, and I want to store recent files/dirs so that they can be selected from a combo box. I was planning to just create a settings with "files" and "dirs", and just store the strings as | separated values (since that's an illegal file character).

I'm trying to get this to work so I can return only a list of items, instead of a list of items and the selected value. Is there a way to make the DropDownList select the selected ListItem from the ListItemCollection (or any other type of collection)?

I am looking for an easy way to have a command prompt like interface for my form. The idea is to make it an interactive text interface. Here is an example of what it might look like > Hi Hello! > How are you? I am fine! >_So it's very much like a chat. BTW, I am not referring to what the example is, just the concept of a command prompt, that I can create a scrollback buffer for. Very much like a MSDOS prompt.

I have this problem where is wont let me create and files through the command prompt via echo xxx> C:xxx in Visual Basic. If I do it sepoaratly and run the command prompt as admin (This is not using vb at all) then it will work. I have tried putting my vb app to require previlidges at both levels at different times, not at once, and I still got the same thing. So is there a way I can use the comman prompt through vb, but also making the command prompt being an admin without turning off UAC?The code that will not work is this.
Shell(Environ$("Comspec") & " /c """ & WDir & "ToolsMediaInfoMediaInfo.exe"" --output=xml """ & WDir & "ToolsMediaInfoMediaInfo.xml""")

I'm writing the following bits of code for a SaveFile Dialog box in Visual Basic 2010.NET. The code works well as the XLSX file is created and opens in Microsoft Excel. However, the problem that I am having is that if the program overwrites a file, the user is getting two prompts. One prompt is from the program's own SaveFile dialog confirming the choice. The other is from Microsoft Excel asking you the same. It's as if the program is running in the background.[code]
