My current solution consists of several Class Libraries and a Website. I'm in the process of globalizing the application and I realized that my resources need to be accessed by all the projects not just the website so placing my resources in the App_GlobalResources folder didn't work. I added my resources to one my class Libraries and now I'm trying to figure out what the best way of accessing the resources are from my markup. When my resources were in the App_GlobalResources folder I was able to access them by using an expression such as this: <$ Resources: MyApp.Name %> for server controls
Or <%=Resources.MyApp.Name %> for plain text
What's the best way of accessing my Resources from my website aspx files now that they are in a Class Library DLL?

I am preparing a project for distribution, and I need advice as to how to establish my paths to some of the dynamic data elements; sound clips, external imagery and a database.I am reading the environment.startuppath, but it's pointing all the way in to the debug folder, whixh I'm sure I'm not going to be using when I publish things for distribution.I was hoping for something that could establish a relative base folder, and then just reference a few subfolders from there.

The thing is im making formless application, thats visible in tray only.. But i have like 21 icons for default functions.. and when my program launches all icons with the exe file is loaded in RAM. Is there a way to use an external resources file, where all the icons is stored, so when application needs one it takes it from rscx file and loads it, and when it needs other icon it releases the one taken and takes other.. Im asking this not just for ico files, but for any file types that can be stored in my.resources..

I am writing a very simple program that connects to a accdb file (Microsoft Access 2007 file) and returns some results in a datagridview. Everything is fine. Now because we have to deploy this program in many computers i publish it so everyone we want can install it and have updates. What i wanted to do is to make the database file part of the program which i did it by adding it to the resources. My problem is that i do not know what connection string to enter in order to access it in my resources.
My previous connectionstring before i deploy it was this
ConnectionString = "Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=C:l.accdb;Persist Security Info=True
What should i change in the data source in order to access the same file in my resources?

I agreed to trade some code with my wife (her SQL for my .NET), but I am running to an issue on my side. I have taken some old vb that she is needing converted to .NET and made it work, but there are two lines of code:
DoCmd.SetWarnings(False)
'and
DoCmd.SetWarnings(True)
I have found out that these are objects related to using Access, but i can't figure out how to use them in .NET. It seems that, in the original code, they are used without instantiation, but I get the "Reference to a non-shared member requires an object reference" on those two lines of code. I have never worked with Access before, but it seems like it would be a simple fix if I just knew exactly what was having its warnings enabled/disabled.

I have an assembly in VB .NET 2.0 that I am trying to use to call a webservice.This will be COM visible, and return the results to Access in VBA.The .NET Assembly passes all tests and executes perfectly.I was experiencing "Object does not support this property or method" errors when calling the methods from VBA.I broke it down to a certain object that was being returned and added some test methods to the .NET DLL.There is a "Patient" object I want to return.It looks like this (made it very very simple to test it):
Option Strict On
Option Explicit On
<ComClass(Patient.ClassId, Patient.InterfaceId, Patient.EventsId)> _

I have a DLL that I made in FORTRAN to do some number crunching. It works in VB6 and in VBA within Excel. But I cannot get it to work in VB2008 or VB2010. If I try to access it the subroutines in the DLL I get either, 1) Structure of DLL invalid error or 2) Cannot find the DLL error.
Here is my VB2010 code for a smaller demo app that came with the FORTRAN development system. Again, this works with VB6 and VBA but not with VB.net
vb.net
Imports System
Imports System.Runtime.InteropServices
Public Class Form1

I have inherited a large project written in a mixture of C# and VB.Net
The project involves many separate assemblies.
There are hundreds (or thousands) of resources (png files) that have been inserted into the project using the VB My.Resources functionality that I would like to access from some C# code, in a different assembly.
Microsoft has a KB article about this. It includes some sample code, but I can't get it to work (and I can't quite follow the code).
// Gets a reference to the same assembly that
// contains the type that is creating the ResourceManager.
System.Reflection.Assembly myAssembly;

I have a razor.vbhtml view and would like to use string resources normally accessible via My.Resources. Seems like I can only get to My.Computer, My.Log and couple other namespaces from the view, but not My.Resources. I've tried changing access modifier to public and adding Imports, neither worked.

I cannot figure out how to get past this error. I have 1) Given the user "everyone" access to the entire directory that this dll is contained in 2) Deleted the dll and rebuilt the project 3) Deleted the Temporary ASP.NET files in the Windows Directory 4) Restarted IIS 5) Tried to change to a different user in IIS security including trying ASPNET. we are not using windows authentication. 6) Even copied that dll from other machines.
Here's the error. I have no clue at this point if it's code missing inside it or something else wrong with it or my setup. Other people on my team are using this dll ok. Could not load file or assembly 'Anthem' or one of its dependencies. Access is denied.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. I'm using access to replicate something that is very simple in excel. I have one "due date" column, and I want the cell right next to those cells to tell me if there are less than 15 days to that date. In excel is a simple conditional function, but I want to do it in Access because it looks better.I'm new to access and even though I've been reading some posts and forums I haven't been able to pull this out. I tried to program a macro with the following
Sub Alarma()
[Alarma] = IIf([Fecha de vencimiento] - 15 > Date(), " ", "Faltan menos de 15 das")
[code]....
It shows the following error -> Compilation error: External name not defined.
So, it's not reading the "Alarma" field... how do I define this field? It's inside a formulary, and Alarma is the title (I downloaded a template from the internet and changed the titles so I wouldn't have to do it from scratch...)

I'm writing small VB.Net app which should build reports based on data gathered from some external MDB-files (Access 2007).
It was planned that this app will use parametrized SQL queries to collect data from DBs.
One of the parameters for these queries is path to the external MDB-file.
Here goes sample code:
Dim conn As New OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=C:TempTemp.mdb;")
conn.Open()
[Code]....
Looks simple but doesn't works. After launch my app throws following exception - System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException: Disk or network error.
Have spent a whole day to make it work with no success. What have I done wrong?

I am using Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition. Some of the programs I am writing make extensive use of External files (saved games, data, item lists, etc.) I could use an easy way to get these files to ride allong during deployment (cd mostly). adding them to the resources works for some static pictures, but custom structures into lists of info to read and write from are beond that features abilities, same with the settings feature. I have found in other help referance to "MageUI.exe" so is downloading a .net SDK my solution or is there a better trick I can use?
