I have a DLL that I made in FORTRAN to do some number crunching. It works in VB6 and in VBA within Excel. But I cannot get it to work in VB2008 or VB2010. If I try to access it the subroutines in the DLL I get either, 1) Structure of DLL invalid error or 2) Cannot find the DLL error.
Here is my VB2010 code for a smaller demo app that came with the FORTRAN development system. Again, this works with VB6 and VBA but not with VB.net

I have noticed that whent he applications are developed on my hp dv7-2270us notebook and stored on an external harddrive, if these same applications are then opened on my dell latitude d610, i will recieve a corrupted external harddrive error. I am writing an app in VB2010. My code parses a text file, assigns data to variables My??, and then attempts to store this data in an access 2010 (actually access 2007 format) table. Yet, whenever my code gets to MyRow.Item("Artist") = MyArtist I get an error 5 'Artist' does not belong to Table MyTable, but the field/column does exist in the table as do all the others.

My current solution consists of several Class Libraries and a Website. I'm in the process of globalizing the application and I realized that my resources need to be accessed by all the projects not just the website so placing my resources in the App_GlobalResources folder didn't work. I added my resources to one my class Libraries and now I'm trying to figure out what the best way of accessing the resources are from my markup. When my resources were in the App_GlobalResources folder I was able to access them by using an expression such as this: <$ Resources: MyApp.Name %> for server controls

I've a problem with an application i have to use at work. That application is in .net (created by my company). The application call some object that are .exe file. When i try to open it i received the following error:

I'm using access to replicate something that is very simple in excel. I have one "due date" column, and I want the cell right next to those cells to tell me if there are less than 15 days to that date. So, it's not reading the "Alarma" field... how do I define this field? It's inside a formulary, and Alarma is the title (I downloaded a template from the internet and changed the titles so I wouldn't have to do it from scratch...)
I am using Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition. Some of the programs I am writing make extensive use of External files (saved games, data, item lists, etc.) I could use an easy way to get these files to ride allong during deployment (cd mostly). adding them to the resources works for some static pictures, but custom structures into lists of info to read and write from are beond that features abilities, same with the settings feature. I have found in other help referance to "MageUI.exe" so is downloading a .net SDK my solution or is there a better trick I can use?
I'm writing small VB.Net app which should build reports based on data gathered from some external MDB-files (Access 2007). It was planned that this app will use parametrized SQL queries to collect data. One of the parameters for these queries is path to the external MDB-file.

I have used VB (versions 2 - 6) through many years; however, I am crash-course training myself into the VB2008 / VB2010 world kicking a screaming. I would like suggestions as to what SQL database access method should I focus more on in my learning process without making me feel that I'm a million years behind. I know I have WinForms where I can create a datasourse and drag / drop fields or tables on a form to create a grid (not really what I'm looking for).
My trouble isn't so much designing the form but in how I access the database. Theres XML, LINQ to SQL, ADO.NET, and many other methods. Not only do I need to grasp these methods quickly but I also need to know what type of projects I should create. What I mean is...I was thinking that I would design a WinForm app; however, I see that there are WPF apps and others to chose from. This is getting deep. I know it depends on the project that I'm working on. My plans are to write an app based off of either an SQL Express 2008 or SQL Server 2008 database. This first app will be standalone for now but may later become multi-user. I know I'm far behind on my learning curve coming from VB6. I have read a bit on VB2005 / 2008 / 2010. I own both VB2008 and VB2010. I use VB2008 at work. I know ADO.NET is still alive but by what I read online, it's a dying method and is only kept for backward compatibility. XML and LINQ to SQL and other methods are all pretty new to me.
I wanted to know if it is possible to Zip a folder without any external dll nor any external references - just with native features.I've been able to Zip files with System.IO.Packaging, but it does not include folders and I cannot tell it to Zip the parent folder.I know there are external dll and so, but I'd like to know if it's possible to make it from a native way.
Most conversion tools will still use VB6 syntax And so don't many people coming to .NET from VB6 - drives me nuts.Rewrite your program from scratch using all .NET syntax and not legacy VB6 syntax still supported in the .NET world.

I am creating an RTF file programatically so that user input can be formatted and I can control the font.There's two problems:
1. vbNewLine doesn't seem to work. I've also tried vbCrLf and that doesn't work either. I just want to introduce another blank line and not sure why it's not working.
2. Is there a way to use tab print positions to format things so they're not all just aligned left, center or right? (like tab(20); something etc..)
