I'll try to make this simple, using VB.Net on Windows Vista:How do you change key bindings programatically?I'm thinking it has to do with the registry so if it does just give me the registry key names(i know how to change the registry already)If it helps, the reason I want to do this is to change the Windows media center button so that it opens my program rather than WMC.

I'm using the 'Selecting' event to check for the validation and if not valid I'm setting e.cancel to true.All of this works quite well. My problem is that in the validation code, checking tab(1) data, I would like to offer the user the ability to choose to change data in tab(0).The 'Selecting' event enables me to cancel the change to tab(2) from tab(1) but will not allow me to set the selectedindex to 0

I am struggling with changing the Page Orientation of a WORD document I am creating programatically using VB.NET 2005.I need to change the orientation from Portrait to Landscape after the first page of the WORD document is created.I create a WORD document (2007) successfully and then begin to populate the WORD document with report information (taken from reading a text file and writing some if it to the WORD document)...I am using COM Microsoft WORD 12.0 Object Library....After the first page, the document needs to be changed from a PORTRAIT orientation to LANDSCAPE orientation.Since my application is generating several WORD documents from this one text file, it needs to be done programatically.provide assistance with small example of (writing text to word...page break...change orientation to landscape)?

This is the form I'm having problems with. As you can see I've created a tab interface which is working. There are five text boxes on it which are binded to the Staff table in the database. When the tab is changed, the binding is changed to a new field. However, unfortunately, when a new record is selected, the data bindings do not update, and instead, the first record is always being used. We suspect the problem may be coming from the fact that there is code to unbind from the text box and rebind it again. This is the code I'm talking about...

I have a GridView and some textboxes, etc whose BindingSource is a list of business objects.
Problem comes when my business objects are updated programmatically. My objects implement INotifyPropertyChanged, and I raise the PropertyChanged event when the object is updated. When the object changed happens to be the selected row in the GridView.
I get the following exception: System.InvalidOperationException
DataBinding cannot find a row in the list that is suitable for all bindings.
How can I solve this?

I am having difficulty getting some form control property bindings to work correctly. Below is the code I am using-

The ZedGraphControl is just a GraphPane, and the TolSelectBtn is just a button. Problem is, the ZedGraph control binding works properly, but the binding to the button does not (both controls' Visible properties are set to False in the design window). Can a ToolStripMenuItem only handle one data binding? Or is there something else I should be looking for?
I have a project that I used the 'Connect to Database' tool to set all the bindings and table adapters, etc. Currently the database is housed in the same directory as the exe. I was asked if I could have the database location be a dynamic value. My question is when you set up a project to work with a database using the 'Connect to Database' tool, how can you change its location?
I found this setting:

But its read only.
Within that setting is text that says: DataDirectory
So thought that might be a variable to change somewhere....but can't find it.
I have a form with a datagridview, 2 datetimepicker(dtp) controls, combobox, textbox, 3 buttons and a bindingsource. All my controls are bound to the datasource and seem to work fine when the form loads. One of my datetimepicker controls losses the bindings when I add a new row to the datagridview and save the changes. I validate the date entered in this dtp.

I'm binding a ComboBox's SelectedIndex to a Nullable database field like so:

As you can see, I've defined the NullValue to be zero, yet I get an InvalidCastException. Is there anything I'm doing wrong? Or is handling the binding's Format and Parse events the only way around this?
I'm trying to populate the list of a combobox by binding it to a datatable. Also, I want the selected value of the combobox to be bound to an object property so that when the selected value changes, it's automatically updating the object. However it's causing an error at runtime: "This causes two bindings in the collection to bind to the same property.
Parameter name: binding" I thought binding the dropdown list to a datatable and the selected value to an object were different properties but obviously I'm not getting it right.

I have a .NET dll which I use from a C++ program. Now I have to register the dll programmatically on a deployment computer. How do i do that (programmatically! not using regasm)? I remember, when I once called a VB6 dll from a C++ dll, I had to use DllRegisterServer and DllUnregisterServer. Is that still so with a .NET dll? It seems I have to somehow add the dllregisterserver function to the .NET dll.

As a side note, the customer is asking about this because they use Sharepoint, and it seems it has a way to analyze XLSB files quicker and easier than XLS??? I'm working to improve my Sharepoint knowledge, but in the meantime, I'm trying to find an answer to this XLSB issue.

View 5 RepliesI've written an interface with a 3rd party web service in VB.NET. The final step in that interface involves the 3rd party delivering to us (as a stream) a PDF document. After streaming is complete I save a copy of the PDF on our servers, so that our users can view the PDF by clicking on a link in our system. The PDF opens fine in Acrobat X, but when I try to open it programatically I an error saying that "the file is damaged and could not be repaired". I can also open the file in IE just fine, with no issues, and the same code that displays this PDF works just fine on lots of other existing PDFs that predate the 3rd party interface.
I have emptied out temporary internet files as suggested in some posts I saw online. I also opened the PDF in Notepad++ and the %PDF tag is first, and the %%EOF tag is last, so there's certainly no corruption visible in the document source that I can see. Below is the (very standard) code we use to open PDFs into a separate browser instance on our site:

I am reading values from a database (boolean) and if true, I want it to check a checkbox,and if false, keep the checkbox unchecked. The lines look like this: blEnergy.Items.FindByValue(1).Selected = track_usageIn this case, track_usage is a boolean value.This way does not actually create the check mark in the checkbox like I wanted it to. View 1 Repliesim trying to find a better way to end the application im working on right now programatically, sometimes a user simple wants to end it all and since in the properties of my project the program is set to only end after all forms have been closed, (oddly enough i close all forms and it still is executing so i use dispose method and then end) what would be the best way to end the application and free pc memory for everything attached to it? i use:

as ive readed online, end simply stops the app and nothing else, which makes me think, does its data still persists in the ram? i want to clear everything and not leave useless resources anywhere.
