View 14 RepliesI'm trying to populate the list of a combobox by binding it to a datatable. Also, I want the selected value of the combobox to be bound to an object property so that when the selected value changes, it's automatically updating the object. However it's causing an error at runtime: "This causes two bindings in the collection to bind to the same property.
Parameter name: binding" I thought binding the dropdown list to a datatable and the selected value to an object were different properties but obviously I'm not getting it right.

details I am connecting to an Access database and using .net 3.5 and writing the code in VB. In this database I have a table named Sites with a column named Site and when I try to use the line of code above I get the exception noted. I was under the impression that I could explicitly name the column that I need to use in my control (combo box).

I created a master - detail form . I changed the name of one datacolumn in the dataset (not the source) from "alert_name" to "alert_name_new" and i saved all files.I checked the file <dataset>.xsd in the directory and i found the change was made... as expected.When i try to run the application the following error message appears: "Cannot bind to the property or column ALERT_NAME_NEW on the DataSource."

I am having difficulty getting some form control property bindings to work correctly. Below is the code I am using-

The ZedGraphControl is just a GraphPane, and the TolSelectBtn is just a button. Problem is, the ZedGraph control binding works properly, but the binding to the button does not (both controls' Visible properties are set to False in the design window). Can a ToolStripMenuItem only handle one data binding? Or is there something else I should be looking for?

I have a view model with a property that exposes a collection of things.I have a ComboBox whose ItemsSource property is bound to this collection.Now the user can select from the list.I want to allow the user to clear the selection, so I want to add an item (that is Null) to ComboBox. It's pretty straightforward.
I decided to try and use a CompositeCollection for the ItemsSource so that I could add the items in the existing list to the ComboBox as well as the extra Null item.After fighting with this for a while I decided to return to the documentation on the CompositeCollection Class. I copied their example and the modified it to use a view model instead of Static Resources.
I discovered that no items show up in the list when I bind the CollectionContainer to the list exposed by the ViewModel.I'm not sure how to get around this problem and I'm looking for any advice on this topic.

In my VB 2010 code, I've defined a structure that has about 30 elements. I want to sum the properties (they are all singles) of two members of the corresponding collection. I understand that I can do something like:
member1.property1=member2.property1+member 3.property1 for the entire set of properties of member2 and member3 to produce a completely defined member1 What I wonder is whether or not there is a way that uses fewer lines of code - I know that I can't do:member1=member2+member3, for example.
