Jan 13, 2011I have a bundle of tiny pictureboxes on a form. The number is specified by the user, but it could be up to 100, or so. The user can select any set of these pictureboxes by a variety of means. I want to change the image to show the selection state of the pictureboxes, and I'm looking for the best way to do that. The pictureboxes each shows a bitmap. The brute force method would be to have a selected image and an unselected image and just swap them, but it seems like there ought to be a way to do something significant and reversible to the image, such as inverting the colors, that might be smaller that having a second copy of each image.

I tried making my own but it was slow and very unreliable. I need it to work fast (as close to instant (give or take 1 or 2 seconds)). I have to run it on images 1000+x1000+ (Nothing more than 1500). I have to take the values of the text and the position of it in the image.

Aug 23, 2011When you click a button on my form, it opens a folder dialog box & gets the selected path, then changes a label's text to state that it's starting to process the directory then it goes ahead & opens a new streamwriter & continues on into my other sub for listing directories..roblem is the label isn't changing before it does it's processing, I figure that is because it's processing to fast to actually display the text. Even if processing the directory takes a minute or more the label won't ever change, which should have happened before it started processing the directory.

I can make a good loop file, but what I'm having trouble with is getting a fade in and fade out effect to make it realistic. I don't want to use the master volume controlbecause there could be other sounds playing at the same time. How would I do this?

Way To Fade To Black?
Nov 30, 2011I'm currently making a huge project. So huge it is split into four separate applications. I want the form to fade to black once the user logs on and only fade up when the new program has fully loaded. I've tried various methods, such as having the second program write to a file on the C: drive, then have the first program wait until that file exists to fade out.Is there a more efficient way? My method isn't working... the form will fade to black, but you get a glimpse of the desktop just before the new program launches (both are full screen apps btw)
