I am using VS2008(VB.Net) windows application. Custome upload some file through FTP in www.XXXX.com. The file store into a computer which IP is 192.XXX.X.XXX and C:XMLOrder folder. Now I want to access this through code to read the files.
Here is my idea so far: I have a bunch of computers connected in a local network. One of them is a MySQL server, one will have a vb.NET program wich will act as a "second server" and the rest will be different clients. What I want to do is that the "second server" will send out some kind of message or network package to some of the clients in the network, and they will execute a code based on what message it is, or what kind of package it is. I'll give you a simple example:
I was using the following code to check the file size of a data file on my local machine. Now the data files have been moved to a mapped network drive and this code no longer works. What do I need to change or how do I access file size on a mapped drive?
Dim MyFile As New FileInfo(MyFilePath) Dim FileSize As Long = MyFile.Length
I have a .NET 2.0 *.dll that calls My.Computer.Network.Ping(). The *.dll is then run out of an *.exe via AppDomain.CreateDomain() and Invoke(). The problem is that this works just fine under Windows XP but under Windows 7, I get an exception saying that no network connection is available. I tried the Ping() call out of a small console application under Windows 7 and it works just fine.
how to browse to the specified file on a PC using network done by programmatically? What i mean is a program that can execute the following task: normally we press WIndow + R (keyboard) to start command prompt. When try browse to other pc we simply key in friendPC. So the window will prompt for username and password to access the pc on the network.so programmatically, how to do this? so that when user click my button, let say btnBrowse, it will straighaway direct the user to the prompt window(username and password)? of cource, this prompt will be base on the permisson set at the destination pc.
I have a computer that takes in a barcode through a Visual Basic program on one computer and I want to be able to compare that barcode as a String to data on a different computer on the same network by ethernet connection where the data is stored in an Excel 2010 file (.xlsm) in Column A in a workbook called 'Data.xlsm'. Before the data is allowed to be saved or used further in the program on the first computer, I would like for the comparison to happen.
Some more details that you all may or may not need.
Computer 1 (where barcode is scanned): Windows 7, Office 2010
Computer 2 (where data file is stored): Windows XP, Office 2007
I am working in Microsoft Visual Studio 2003.I want to copy a file from one folder to another folder in php.

I have developed a visual basic app in Visual studio 2008. I have created a windows installer file. Can I deploy this on a network drive and does .NET framework have to be installed on server? The application has a MS access database associated with it, so I would like to have it backed up via the network.
My.Computer.Network.UploadFile("C:UsersPhillipDesktop est.txt", "http://10.0.0.2/c:/text.txt", "my username, "mypassword") but it does not work...whats the proper format for entering a location to a computer over the network?Also... whats a way to send a file to a computer over the internet such as my friends computer... The reason I am doing this is because I plan to make some programs that run based on text files and a basic example of this is a chat program... but I do plan for other things as well...
and it worked... now how can I send over the internet... Also is there another way i can send over the network like using the IP instead of computer name? Also how do I send it to other computers?
I wrote WCF method that check whether file is available or not. File is on the network drive. "\orl-avqaAVIPHist_Images2009h010109000379.fim"When I am checking file is available or not. Web service is returning me "file not found"let me know what should I do to fix it.
I am looking for a way to possibly intercept the point that a file is being accessed on a network share. Specifically before it is determined whether the user has access to the file or not.The goal will be to grant access to that file if the file request is coming from a specific process and that user currently does not have access.
I am developing an application, which hunts the local network for attached computers then checks for a share and a file, if found it displays it in a listbox. While testing this I have seen some strange Chinese or Japanese computer names pop up and in a few seconds go away, the names seem to always be different.
I have a VB 6.0 code that creates file/directory on given path. If the path is local or a mapped drive then it's working fine but if I am having a network path like \netpathputfileshere" then it is not working. If I mapped "\netpathputfileshere" to some x: drive on local then it will work fine BUT I need not mapped this path. So is there any way to do this directly on network path. I get error for ChDrive "\netpathpullfileshere"
I am using standalone application vb.net(2.0) and using filesysystem watcher class to find any new xml coming into that specified directory then application take that file and continue the process but the direcotry have been located in network machine. Now my problem is, once the path is not available it mean the shared path server going to offline, then my application not intimate me.
am currently writing a program that uses multiple scripts we use to diagnose software we use in our environment. Currently, the only we retrieve our information is going to the local machine, and running the script locally, and retrieving the output results. The script is an batch file. The goal of the program I am currently creating is to automate the process by specifying which machines need to have the script ran on, generating the script, dispatching it, executing it, and retrieving the output results from the machine the program is ran on...
I am working on a project based on networking. I am developing a WinForms app that stores media files (video/audio) on a file server. All the file attributes are indexed on a SQL server. Currently, I am accessing the files in my client app for playback and export to file by impersonating the authorized user for the file share, caching a local copy, then doing what I need to do with the cached file (playback, export etc.)If a viewer wants to view a file (using the AXWindowsMediaPlayer control), I have to first cache the file completely (using the process I just mentioned) before the user can play it back. Any way I can get around this - perhaps someway I can avoid the cache step and play directly from the UNC source?I tried impersonating the authorized user then passing the UNC path for the file to AXWindowsMediaPlayer, but I got an error. It seems like the impersonation does not work with the control.Different threads? Also, is there a better way to do all this? Mounting a share does not seem to be an options since I want to control access to the media files through the app.
how you can allow vb.net to access a file/folder within a domain group and retrieves it permission setting to determine if the user have access or denied access to a certain folder?
I have this code that creates a template and stores that template to a local database and I want it also to store in a network database but I'm having problems on the other end it seems it's not storing the right data.
Server side Dim cnString As String = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Persist Security Info=False;Data Source=|DataDirectory|fp.mdb; Jet OLEDB:Database Password = joceradmin" Dim fpFilename As String Dim userID As String userID = InputBox("Please enter ID number to enroll", "Enter ID Number", , 100, 100) [Code] .....
I'm hoping someone can point me in a different direction. I'm copying files from one computer to another. Both are on the same switch connected at 1Gbps here's my problem:Using File.Copy with a list of files I can get an average transfer speed of ~60Mbps Using multiple background workers with a split list of files and File.Copy is slower Using the FileStream read/write method I get an average speed of ~55Mbps with a 8M buffer
What can I do to get a faster transfer rate? I'd be happy to hit 250Mbps over the LAN.
According to MSDN, the Icon.ExtractAssociatedIcon method cannot accept a UNC pathname, which I think is totally absurd. Does anyone know of a work-around to extract the icon of a file on a network?
I try to download a file by using the My.Computer.Network.DownloadFile 'command'. The path i use is this: [URL]. Everytime i want to download it, it downloads the HTML file of this zippyshare page! I want just the .mp3. How can i do that?
