I created on Employee master form. The details which i enter in this form is saving to sql table. But if i use Wild characters example in Name field if i enter "Varghese D'Costa", then the following error comes : Line 1: Incorrect syntax near 'Costa' Unclosed quotation mark before the character string ''.
To avoid this error how can i write codes. In VB.Net variable declared as string, in Stored Procedure and Table i declared as varchar The following are my VB.NET codes...

I am trying to read the file contents using
System.IO.File.ReadAllText
After reading the file contents the special charaters gets replaced with some garbage characters like "?".
To eliminate this I have used encoding along with above method
System.IO.File.ReadAllText(strFile, System.Text.Encoding.ASCII)
But still it is not working.

I am trying to insert a wild card character (') in sql database, but error is coming that STRING IS TRUNCATED.
Text1.text="D'John Is Writing Dev's Books"
Here there are 2 wild characters (') in the text. When i try to insert this text in database, the problem is comming. The whole string should be inserted as it is, as well as to be retrieved as it is.

I need to be able to strip the following prefixes from product codes as you see I have included a simple query while yes the below shows me the cm im not wanting i cant use replace as it code replace any instance of cm the prefixes are held in the supplire table cross refer with the products table
prefixes are not always two chrachters for example can be TOW

I need to split a string into parts to insert into a table (Data Grid View).

Not sure if too many people know this, but the following line will cause an error:
GroupName.Substring(0, 3) = "jt_"
....if the length of GroupName is less than 3 characters. I always thought it would simply return whatever characters in GroupName, but no, it errors. I must be thinking of the old VB6 days.So, I now have to change the code to:
If (GroupName.Length > 2) Then
If (GroupName.Substring(0, 3) = "jt_") Then
Note that the two comparisons need to be on separate lines. If they are on the same line, such as:
If (GroupName.Length > 2) and (GroupName.Substring(0, 3) = "jt_") Then then the code will still fail as the length command is executed at the same time as the substring command- which will cause the error when the GroupName length is less than 3.Just thought that those of us not aware of this should be!

I have a function that out puts letters or numbers like: S51AF36W562251DWD4DW
and what I want to do is in the same function after the string has been generated I want to
add some dashes in between the string so it looks like this: S51A - F36W - 5622 - 51DW - D4DW.
This should be so simple to do but I can't figure it out.. I've tried String.Replace, text.trim, etc.

I do this in Oracle databases just in a snap, but now I have to do it in VB using ADODB and I don't know how to do it.
I have two Access 2007 tables. Table A contains: Col1 (text), Col2 (text), Col3(date), Col4(amount), Col5(text)
Table B contains Col1(date), Col2(amount) What I need to do is to insert into table B the records of table A (col4 summed) grouped by date of table A. The date is a variable contained in a text box so it cannot be hardcoded into the SQL statement.

I have a form with four checkboxs and a textbox for an id number.I also have two tables in a database. The first has a column for the users Id, Name, and a column called Points.The second has a column for Id and one called Letters.What i want to do is, after the user enters the id number, and the user clicks checkboxA it should add a certain number, lets say 5, to the "points" cell for that id#(in the first database), and it should put the letter "a" in the "letters" column (of the second database) for that id number. Also, if a user deselects a checkbox it should remove the "a" from letters and subtract 5 from points.Also there will be different letters in the "letters" cell, so i cant just clear it, but i have to remove the specific letter.

I have a csv file that I need to import into a sql table, this portion is working correctly. The code grabs the data, displays it in a datagridview and then imports it into the sql table. What I need to do is add an additional field that will automatically number itself by the amount of rows inserted at that perticaular moment. Let me explain a little clearer. The data I grab from the csv file is a day snapshot broken down to the hour. So lets use todays date 6/28/2010 will be broken down in the csv file like this:

I have written a program that uses an array of the english alphabet and Morse code. I also built a form with a input box for the alphabetic information and an output box with the Morse Code. What i am trying to do is basically type a word like "Hi" in the input box and produce the Morse Code equivalent in the Morse Code output box. [Code] This works but only one letter at a time. Do i need to Parse the string of characters one at a time, and then run it through a loop like i have created?

I am trying to filter fields in a table that contain percent (%) and apostrophe (') characters. I kow that to filter an apostrophe you need to add another apostrophe (''). However, when a text contains the percent (%) character in combination with an apostrophe (') character, an exception is thrown. Also, when using the % character in a filter string, it will be function as an "*" (fields starting or ending with). I need the % to be considered as a character whenever the % makes part of a string in the field. How can I address these issues? [code]

I've done this, the way i've always done it .. 100's of times before.. and now on this one form... bombs out... and will not linkup ...I have a DGV with 101 columns, and on this form only one of the coulmns requires a ComboBox (Drop Down List). It's the run's Status, and is one of three values..Pending, Running, Complete... so i'm loading the Combobox Datasource with a List (Of {Object}), like i do on several other DGVCombo Boxes within the same project..
