I am using VB 2008 and Access DataBase. My code need to store original data values for row being updated to compare it with new values later. For this to accomplish I wrote following
Dim dRowOriginalRow
As DSetPurchaseSale.PurchasesRow
Private
Sub btnEdit_Click(ByVal
sender As System.Object,
[Code] .....
When I am running this code, i am not getting the original values in dRowOriginalRow variable insted it is also updating with new changes made in controls, so the dRowOriginalRow and dRowModifiedRow are always same. Again may I use Equal To sigh to compare both rows as I did in my code?
True : dtPurchaseDate.Focus()
I'm sorting data in a dictionary there each key has a list with like 3 items.I want to get all the data from the dictionary to a datatable with the key and the list items on the same row.
all i manage to get is "key" System.Collections.Generic.List`1[System.Data.DataRow]
i'll guess somehow i will loop trough the list and add all elements to a string?[code]...
I have a WPF form that takes a list of objects that have locations and sizes and plots them on the canvas. I'm currently trying to implement an undo button that will throw out all the changes that have been made to the positions of the objects and revert back to the original collection that was retrieved when the form loaded.
As it stands now I go out to the database on the load of the form and get all the objects that will need to be displayed then assign the list that is returned to two seperate collections. The problem that comes up is that the two collections are actually pointers to the original collection and whenever one is changed the changes are reflected in the second collection.
Is it possible to copy a list of objects so that changes made to one collection won't affect the secondary collection?
So far I've tried simply using the assignment operator, passing the source collection into a function byval and scrolling through each element of the list manually adding it to the second collection and using linq to get all the objects from the original list and pushing the results to a separate temporary list and assigning the second collection to the temporary list.
I feel like I'm overcomplicating the issue but almost all the places I've come across while googling say that this behavior is by design, which I understand but it seems like this would be a fairly common idea.
I need to display a column called Full Name in the my datagridview, but the datasource (datatable) does not have a FullName column. It only has FirstName and LastName columns. I'm setting up my DataGridView like this:
I'd like to see how others might handle this scenario and perhaps provide some comments on this particular solution for handling null values. I have run into a situation where my application requires data from an ancillary source that cannot be altered/changed, which of course means dealing with poor database architecture and implementation! In this case, my app is running into errors when attempting to set some form controls (textbox) to values from a single ADO.NET DataRow. Perhaps I should be handling this when attempting to set the controls? Not sure, but here is the current way this is done:
I have two datatables with similar structures that I want to make one existing row to be updated from another datatable.
For example, "tableA" has three columns: "one", "two", and "three"; with "one" being the primary key...
and "tableB" has three columns as well: "one", "two", and "three"; with "one" being the primary key.
Say there is a row on tableA that is different than a row on tableB (with a matching primary key). What I wanted to do, as efficiently as possible, is to take the that row from tableB and replace the one on tableA so it'll be modified.
I'm not sure if there's an easier way of doing that instead of using loops for setting the row's items.
I have an array of people stored in a custom structure array... how can i copy this array to a temp array so that the temp array has all the same values as the original custom array?
I have a form with a datetimepicker. On load of the form, I set the value of the dtp from a datarow, with the following vb.net dtpRequiredDate.Value = dr.Item("RequiredDate")
This works fine. But when the form is loaded subsequent times in the session (form is not disposed on closing, shown as dialog), when presented to the user it just shows todays date, not that set by the above code. Stepping through code, the Onload code runs, and the dtp is set by the above code. Checking the value in debug at this point, the value of the dtp is correct. There is no further code in onload. But by the time it is displayed to the user shows todays date again. I have set a break point on the valuechanged of the dtp but it never fires again after it has been set by the above code.
This is a big idea and I'm unsure of how easy or difficult this really is. I do not know how I would get this even started. What I am trying to accomplish is "docking" so to speak, a sub form into the original. Basically, there are 2 forms open, but one is like a helper so to speak. This concept is not new as many programs use it. An example is a program widely used call Teamviewer. If you use Teamviewer, open the "Partner List" Pane at the bottom to see exactly what I am talking about. Basically, it opens a new form that is next to it.
I'm from a Visual Basic 6/VBA background and I'm moving to VB.Net. I've got a field on a form and I want to look at the value of the field BEFORE it was changed by the user. In VBA/VB6 I simply sais Me.FieldName.OldValue to get the original value. How do i do this in VB.net?
I have a program that my boss ask me to add something on it for report generation but this is a finished program. My problem is if I add a script on this program and build and run using the debugger, the IDE will create a duplicate of my class and will read the original script. I copied the program and place it on a different drive so as I will still have a back-up of the original program at drive c:. And I tried to copy the program again and put it on a different folder but I still have the same problem.
I do not have access to the DLLs currently in production on a new project I am taking over. The source code is accessable but I want a copy of the original DLLs that were compiled and implemented in production via GAC. When I explore 'C:WINDOWSassembly' the DLLs are properly registered there as expected. I understand the GAC store the DLLs somewhere. where so I can get copies of them. The OS of the machine is Windows 2008 Enterprise.
I have a text file to read. Then i took the lines from the text file and write in temporary file. Now i want to overwrite the lines from temporary file to original file.My original file contain Top and bottom part.
I am writing a little app for getting my self folder art from a dedicated web site themoviedb.
they output all the links and every thing in xml to make it easier to pick up on and i am not stealing this is a site where you can do this sort of thing.
i dont really know alot about xml all the examples seen get me so far but i am not sure what to do to get right to image urls.
sample xml as follows
[code...]
I can get to the xml inside the images node. I thought next level would be the child but i cant bring it up i could regex it but i thought the whole point of xml was to able to get to a peice of info within it easily. I would like to get the url for the poster original size(first one in the highlighted list)
Can anyone explain exactly why Method 1 in the following code does not alter the DataTable where the other 2 methods do? It's obviously some kind of referencing issue, but why exactly?
I am trying to add new operators (their name, category, password etc) to a dataset called "operators". (Though I could be adding any new datarow to it's relevent dataset). My program has allowed for the entry of all relevent data and filtered it to make sure it is acceptable. The user has pressed the UPDATE button and my program must now add the new datarow. (My code is in bold!).
I assume that I must first establish a connection to my database, so I start with :-
Dim Conn As New OleDbConnection(ConnectionString)
'I feel that something is needed here to reference OleDbDataAdapter - but what?
Conn.Open() 'Is this line needed? Dim DSetOPERATORS As New DataSet("operators") Dim DRowOPERATORS As DataRow = DSetOperators.Tables("operators").NewRow
I have a master DataTable that may contain some DataRow.RowError. I create multiple subset DataTables from my master DataTable using the DataView.ToTable method whenever the user wants to apply a filter or sort to the master table. However, the ToTable method does not transfer the RowError property of the data rows in the master table to my new subset table. So in order for me to transfer the row errors from my master table to my subset table I have to use a loop. The code below works fine, but with one exception (see below code).
Dim dtMaster As DataTable = Me.ds.Tables("Current") Dim dtSubset As DataTable Dim dv As DataView
[Code]....
Note, the primary key may contain 2 columns, however this is a rear case. If you know of any other solutions to transfer row errors let me know. I don't have to use the Find method.
I want to be able to add values inside the last (default) row in the DGV and when I click save, the value will be save to the xml currently when I do I get error - "Object reference not set to an instance of an object."the error occurs in the red highlighted.[code]
I've come unstuck on a certain point. I am trying to find a way to compare two lists and output only lines which are unique. In other words, remove both occurrences of duplicate lines.I'm relatively inexperienced with VB.NET, but this is how far I have managed to come;
Code: Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim LinksList1, LinksList2 As String LinksList1 = Replace(RichTextBox1.Text, "#vch", "") : LinksList2 = Replace(RichTextBox2.Text, "#vch", "")
[code]....
1) search the array to find duplicates and add them to a second array, then have a second pass to remove anything which matches the second array.
2) search the array for one duplicate and store it, then search the array again to remove the duplicates, and run that process until there are no more duplicates.
Then again, I could be going about this completely the wrong way. If that's the case, feel free to knock some sense into me.
I have wired up a Global class to an HttpModule. It's job is to detect "http:/www." in the URL and redirect the user to the NON www. version
Protected Sub OnBeginRequest(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) 'Force Removal of WWW Dim application As HttpApplication = TryCast(sender, HttpApplication)
[code]....
not something I want to do anyways since it's a hack, but it didn't work anyways.
