Just a pretty question that seem to me a bit difficult to do it. Well, I have a form called customers. Login form and mainform. So my clients want to have an option that explains this: If a user enters information in the customer form, then that information has to be confirmed by admins panel.

I have the need to run my application as Administrator, preferably without prompting the user each time. I'd be ok with a one-time deal, but each time would get old
Application is writing some text files to a user-defined directory (which in some cases is a "protected" directory, like C:Directory). It's throwing all kinds of "Access Denied" errors at runtime.
Is there a registry entry I can insert at installation to escalate the application when ran? or escalate the UAC level in a config file somewhere?

on XP Pro, IsUserRole(eUserType.Administrator) returns true, if the class is administrator, and false if it's limited...
On Vista, it returns true, if it's the first administrator account, and false for anything else... I created a second administrator account on Vista, and it shows in code as "Standard" (or limited) user, the same as if I made a "Managed Account" on Vista...
My
#Region " [IsUserRole] "
Public Enum eUserType
Administrator = 0

I installed the program my self and tested it on Windows Vista, but it gives a lot of errors because it creates files into the application folder and it doesn't have admin rights. If I right click and select "Run As Admin" there are no problems of course, but It's not for private use...So I'm searching for a way to automaticly display the "Run As Admin" Dialog when I open my application,

Im developing an application with Visual Basic 2005 and Oracle Database. It runs perfectly in my developing computer. When I am going to install it in the customer servers, I do it:
1. I install Oracle Database in a dedicated server with Windows 2003.
2. I install the Oracle Client, my application, Oracle Develop Tools for Windows and .NET Framework 2.0 in other dedicated server with Windows 2000.When in this second server, I login in Windows 2000 with "ADMIN" account, the aplication runs 100% perfectly, and oracle database too.
But the problem is : When an user try to connect to the second server without be "ADMIN", (So he's a simple user) the application runs but when it try to connect oracle an exception occurs (in the end of this message I put it).All folders of my application and oracle database have all permisions to all. What can be happen? This is the exception (sorry because its in spanish)[code].....

I am trying to build a self-updating .NET application that will run in an environment with limited user accounts. No admin rights here. The application must run on Vista and XP, and probably Win 7 when it comes out.An X-copy deployment would be fine. I would prefer NOT to use click-once.So far I have tried a system where the application checks a manifest and downloads updated binaries, which worked great in development, but not so much when the app was installed.Vista refuses to to let me copy files to Program Files. After that, I tried downloading an updated .msi, which works except that the MSI has a UAC prompt -- no go if the user does not have an account with local admin privileges.
running the program in AppData and using the x-copy method might work, but I have not seen anyone say that they have tried it and it did work. Will that work for an account without admin rights? Can anyone vouch for this method before I start writing more code?

I am attempting to use several image resources in a web application I am working on, but I am doing something wrong. Here is what I have so far:.An image named frog.gif in a folder named images (/images/frog.gif). This image has the Build Action set to Embedded Resource.
.The Root Namespace (as specified in My Project -> Application) is WebApplication2005.The AssemblyInfo.vb file contains the line:<Assembly: WebResource("WebApplication2005.images.frog.gif", "image/gif")>
.The codebehind file for the page contains the following line in the Load event:
Me.Image1.ImageUrl = Me.Page.ClientScript.GetWebResourceUrl(Me.GetType(), "WebApplication2005.images.frog.gif")
However, when I do a debug, the src attribute of the img tag does have a URL starting with
WebResource.axd, but it is not accessing the resource. What could I be doing wrong? I feel like I have tried everything possible, but with no success.[URL]..

I found this code to rotate a picture online somewhere and made some changes and it works beautifully. My only problem is how much memory it uses. Does anyone see a way for it to use less memory?
Code:
Private Sub RotatePicture(ByRef bm_in As Bitmap, ByVal angle As Integer)
' Copy the output bitmap from the source image.

I'm developing a very simple program in VB2010 Express that will create folders based on entries in a remote database. I am fully aware that the minimum requirement to run the exe is the latest .net framework, however I have a few added resources to the file, and when I try to run the executable on another computer, it fails to run stating that the resources are missing.
How do i compile my VB code AND the resources together into a stand-alone executable that only requires the .net framework to be installed?I have already tried to google this issue, however every answer I find has nothing to do with my initial question..

General question on linked resources. I just want to clarify what an application does with linked resources. For explanatory purposes lets say that my resources are a bunch of images. My understanding is that linked resources are really just a reference to where that resource is on disk, whereas embedded resources are stored as part of the application.

I want to make my application automaticly restart itself to run as admin (the username is "admin" and the password is "friend" if it is not already) if it run in another session with a normal user.
I was already using this code:
Dim fag As Boolean
Function ConvertToSecureString(ByVal str As String)
Dim password As New SecureString
[Code].....
note that liberte.exe is the exe I wana run with admin mode, I bind it in the ressource, then drop it with this I just want to make my program able to run as admin by itself, not with another program. Is there a code to restart the apps if it detect that its not run as admin or maybe a fonction that "change" the user during a bit of instructions?

I was currently looking at on old application that I am maintianing and it uses a mixture of retrieving Application config settings from both the App.config and application config table in the DB.In the new software I am working (a port of the old application) I have a list of email addresses that are static and rarely change, what would be the best mechanism for retrieving these. Currently I am using resource strings so that using them is a simple My.Resources., but what are the benefits/drawbacks of storing the information either in the App.Config or a database table.

I am building a windows application with different languages, when I change the language of a form visual basic will create a new form for me which i can change the settings for my new language and all was working fine, but recently i recognized that the images i am changing in the other language form is changing the images in the default language form, so i need to create two Resources Folders for images and manaully tells the application which folder to use.

I was wondering if you should dispose undisposed resources before closing your application. Maybe it's not necessary to do this because closing your application automatically takes care of this.
