I'm creating an admin backend on my site. All the user content that goes on the site will be stored in a database table called Pending. There are other tables where the content will go once approved (Guestbook, Quotes) but if the content is rejected, it'll just be deleted.I know how to delete the content from the database, but I'm having problems will the approval system. On the approval screen, the admin will see a DataGrid that's databound to the Pending table. There's a button that the admin will click to approve the content (based on a checkbox selection or input of a uniqueidentifier entered into a textbox. Can anyone give me an idea on how to move the content from one table to another? Some sample code would be very nice.I'm using VS2005 with SQL Server 2005 Express.
Does anyone know how to run windows explorer with an admin account while logged in with a non admnistrative account? i want to be able to open up an admin share on a remote host with windows explorer instead of iexplorer. I tried some code I found on the net to impersonate but it didn't work.
on XP Pro, IsUserRole(eUserType.Administrator) returns true, if the class is administrator, and false if it's limited...
On Vista, it returns true, if it's the first administrator account, and false for anything else... I created a second administrator account on Vista, and it shows in code as "Standard" (or limited) user, the same as if I made a "Managed Account" on Vista...
My #Region " [IsUserRole] " Public Enum eUserType Administrator = 0
Im developing an application with Visual Basic 2005 and Oracle Database. It runs perfectly in my developing computer. When I am going to install it in the customer servers, I do it:
1. I install Oracle Database in a dedicated server with Windows 2003.
2. I install the Oracle Client, my application, Oracle Develop Tools for Windows and .NET Framework 2.0 in other dedicated server with Windows 2000.When in this second server, I login in Windows 2000 with "ADMIN" account, the aplication runs 100% perfectly, and oracle database too.
But the problem is : When an user try to connect to the second server without be "ADMIN", (So he's a simple user) the application runs but when it try to connect oracle an exception occurs (in the end of this message I put it).All folders of my application and oracle database have all permisions to all. What can be happen? This is the exception (sorry because its in spanish)[code].....
I have an MS access database that has fomrs with buttons to do certain tasks - a "console" or "toolkit". I am trying to run cmd.exe as the local administrator using this command....
If my domain account is added to the local administrators this works fine (it asks for a password - is there any way round this?)
If i visit another PC in the domain on which i am not a local administrator, it doesnt work and i don't know why In both scenarios i can manually browse to cmd.exe and right click and runas a differnt user without any problems. Also, is there a more efficient way of running this command?
I'm designing a system, whereby am unable to use 2 different login authorities, which are Admin and Non-Admin. I am using VB.NET and Ms. Access and need help for the codes.I want something like, if i click on admin/non admin (with different passwords) a dialog box pops onto the screen and asks for the password. If the password is correct it should take me to the form i want. Something of this sort please.
I develop and maintain several VB6 applications used internally by my employer. All PCs (both my development machine and the users' workstations) run Windows XP. My normal procedure is to develop and test the application, and build an installation package (using the Package and Deployment Wizard), on my machine, and then at each user's machine do the following:
1.log on using a domain administrator account
2.uninstall any previous version of the application
3.run the installation package to install the new version of the application
4.copy the Start menu entries and desktop shortcut to Documents and SettingsAll Users, so that the application can be run by any user
5.test the new version of the application to ensure proper operation
Recently, I completed, tested and built the installation package for version 2 of a particular application. One of the significant changes in this version is the removal of a listbox control and its replacement by an MS FlexGrid control (this was necessary because the users require different items to appear in different colors, which doesn't seem possible with an ordinary listbox). In order to use the FlexGrid, I had to add MSFLXGRD. OCX to the Components... list on the Projects menu. After upgrading the six existing users to version 2, and installing it for a new seventh user, I've run into a problem I've never seen before. When I log into any of the users' machines using the same domain administrator login that I used to install the application, it runs normally. But when I log out and the machine's user logs back in, when they launch the application it always aborts with the following error as soon as the form containing the FlexGrid is opened:[code]With the machine's user logged in, I attempt to manually register the control by opening a command prompt window, making WindowsSystem32 the current directory and entering regsvr32 msflxgrd.ocx at the prompt, but that always generates this error: LoadLibrary ("msflxgrd. ocx") failed - Access is denied.
Of course, if I then log out the user and log back in with the domain administrator login, I can successfully use regsvr32 to register and unregister the control, and the application runs normally for me.I'd always thought that component registrations were system-wide, but this situation seems to call that into question.I've read elsewhere that this problem can be resolved by registering the control in the HKeyCurrent User section of the registry instead of (or in addition to) the HKeyLocalMachine section, and that I can do so by using a registry script rather than (or in addition to) regsvr32 and/or the installation package, but I have no idea of how to do so.
I am getting confused to give permission for user's ,admin and others in web.config. this is my web.config

Every time I make a application and distribute it, Vista users always have to set it as "Run as Administrator" for it to work... Is there any way to make it to where they don't need to do this?
I know that you can make an installer with visual basic and have an option to run as admin and add to firewall. But is there a way to do this with out installing?
Just a pretty question that seem to me a bit difficult to do it. Well, I have a form called customers. Login form and mainform. So my clients want to have an option that explains this: If a user enters information in the customer form, then that information has to be confirmed by admins panel.
My question is i have a table called tblLogin and it has Username and Password and Usertype in it Admin, Normal in usertype. How can i get when the user logs in as admin it shows cmsAdmin and if not admin they are normal it disables cmsAdmin this is the code i currently use for my login system.
i have used vb to create some simple forms but my latest project has got me beat. The company i work for has just upgraded to Terminal Server 2008 and some of our old programs need administrators rights to open but i do not want to give all 200 users the administrators password, So i wanted to know is there anyway i can create a exe with vb.net that will run a .lnk file (located on all users desktops) as administrator.
I've written a service in VB and a config app for the service which has a service start/stop button. In order to start and stop the service you need admin rights, under Windows 7 you right click on the exe and "run as administrator". This works ok, I've used the Visual Studio Installer to also create a desktop shortcut, but if you right click on the shortcut there is no way to run as administrator.
The question therefore is, how to run the shortcut as an admin user? Edit, if you hold shift down whilst right clicking you get the "Run as administrator" option, but you still can't change the advanced property to tick the box as its grayed out.
I am wondering if it is possible to run an application from a domain account that has restrictions on running .exe files by coding in the local administrator details (username / password).
I have a Contact page in my resort website asp.net 3.5. I want to write code in VB.net to send my feedback to mail id.I have Name, Email Address, Contact Num and Message in the form. When the user enters all fields and the message, the message should be sent on admins mail id with all details. Is that possible? How can I do that in Visual Studio 2008 using VB.net?

I'm writing a small application to detect the insertion of USB memory sticks and prompt the user to accept the device or reject it. Rejecting it would prevent its being loaded by Windows. I have the code that detects insertion & removal working fine but have no idea how to cancel the insertion.I was thinking that I could intercept the DEVICEARRIVAL message and kill it off before its actioned by Windows but I am lost with this.code to show the way.Heres the main part of the code I have so far-
Protected Overrides Sub WndProc(ByRef m As System.Windows.Forms.Message) 'This kills off any 'autoplay' capability in the stick If QueryCancelAutoPlay = 0 Then[code]......
is there a way to check in the Form load event if the application is being ran as admin or not? I made a program that sends a email to myself, but it needs to be ran as admin for some reason..
Public Class Form2 Public login As Boolean = False Dim dt As New DataTable Private Sub btnSubmit_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnSubmit.Click [Code]...
I have the need to run my application as Administrator, preferably without prompting the user each time. I'd be ok with a one-time deal, but each time would get old
Application is writing some text files to a user-defined directory (which in some cases is a "protected" directory, like C:Directory). It's throwing all kinds of "Access Denied" errors at runtime.
Is there a registry entry I can insert at installation to escalate the application when ran? or escalate the UAC level in a config file somewhere?
