In the same class I have
Dim WithEvents YMDChart As Chart
Dim WithEvents YMDChartArea As ChartArea
Then:
Public Sub PlotYMD() handles ButtonPlot.click
YMDChart = New Chart
[Code]...
But here at line 5 I have an error saying that I am not refering to an existing instance whereas I am.If think it is because at this step the YMDChart is dead even if it is present on my form. I have tried with the declaration "Static" but it is only possible within a method and is incompatible with "with event".
I've seen this great example of serial communication in VB.NET[URL]..I try to use it in a project I am working on but somethings are not clear to me.1: Now the send and received data is shown in one RichTextBox but I would like to split this into two RichTextBoxes (RtbSend and RtbReceived).It is unclear to me how and were data is assigned to the RichTextBox?
2. the received data is shown in the Richtextbox as one long line, I would like to get a new line for every send message.So for example: I I send "test" four times, I would like to see:The example describes that "comPort_DataReceived" is executed when data is waiting in the buffer. Where can I see the eventhandler responsible for this? How does it know data is waiting?The problem is this kind of coding is a bit to difficult for me. I want to understand the code before I implement it into my project. I understand most of the code but this is unclear to me.
When the registry subkey value of "Compact Check Count" Dword reaches 100,Outlook Express starts posting nag screen each time you close it asking if you want to compact all your emails The Following snippet Gets the current value of the subkey

I want to modify the third column of an existing excel file. The problem with below code is a new file is prduced with the new values in Column C and erases all other values in the orginal file. I want to update the orginal file with the new values.

We are translating UI of one VB6 application designed in English (US) into Chinese Language which contains API's, we need to know how to use the Unicode (Wide) versions of used API for new (Chinese) Language and how can we find is there any wide version exist for that used API and how to modify existing API with wide API.
I'm looking for a way to programmatically view and/or modify the permission for an existing share. I'm speaking of SHARE PERMISSION, not NTFS PERMISSION, I know how to view/modify ntfs permission.
I currently have a chart that plots lines of a changing value every time it is called via a timer.
Everything is running as I expected and I am happy, but now I want to be able to press a [STOP] button which will stop the timer and stop the graph from updating, (which I have coded and is now working OK), BUT I then want the code under this [STOP] button to clear everything from the graph, so when I re-start the timer, the graph is cleared and starts plotting fresh points on a clean graph.
The problem I currently have is that when I press the [STOP] button and then press the [START] button, the new lines that get plotted are "added" to the existing lines that are already on the chart, instead of having a new "blank" chart, with no data on it.
So what I am really asking is does anyone know if it is possible to reset a chart clearing everything off it so it is ready to start displaying fresh data?
I was hoping it was something like: "Chart1.Clear" or something simple like that, but I can't seem to find anything that will do it.
I have an array of type Double() (1 x n) that I am trying to quickly plot on a graph I've already set up. The only thing I want/need to do is take my array and store it as data points (y-axis values) in the series I already have. What's the best way to do this? Also, will the data points that are plotted change as my array changes, and if not, how would I replot those new points and get rid of the old points?
I have an Excel template that contains numerous pre-defined charts and a program that opens this template and collects data used to populate the charts. This works great but I now want to adjust the series length so that the charts only used the data collected (not a range of 32000). I'm trying to iterate through the charts and determine the range for each series of each chart but not having much luck. The snippet below allows me to see the xvalues but does not return any information as to where this data is located. Does anyone know how to extract the range for each series in a chart?
I have a program that runs some data manipulation on a file when it is double-clicked and then displays this to the user.However, when I double click on the same file type of a different file it opens in a separate instance of my program instead of the same instance already running, i.e. some message that says would you like to reload file, YesNo, and then given the answer perform the action required.I have found some code to stop a second instance from opening, but this is inconvienient for the user to close out of the program everytime they want to view a new file.[code]
I have a windows service that I have been writing in Vb.Net. As part of this service it calls a class that has a long running Process.I can execute commands to this process when I want to via the ServerCommands() class within the service, however I want to call these remotely. Possibly from a website or click once WPF application.
For this I have used a simple Tcp.Ip WCF example, and have verified it as working correctly.
This called OnStart()Private _serverCommands As ServerCommands Protected Overrides Sub OnStart(ByVal args() As String) Add code here to start your service. This method should set things in motion so your service can do its work.
[Code]...
It appears that in debug _serverCommands is Nothing when it should be running.How might I go about ensuring any command I execute through WCF communicates with the running instance instead of creating a new ServerCommand() instance??I haven't tried WCF before, so I might be hitting a dead end... however I'm sure its possible.
I have a chart in Excel that I'd like to use a subtitle on. There is no SubTitle Property on the chart object, so I looked in the Excel User interface and found that you can only create a sub-title by using a text box. The text box looks like its associated with the chart, not the worksheet, so how would I access that text box from code?
I have an application the contains several excel files bundled with it. I'm not opening the files and processing them within my application. These files contain a data-connection to reload all of the pivot-tables within each excel file. I have a 'link' on my form, that when clicked, it determines which file to open and calls a sub using filename and executing Process.Start(filename) for any excel file I want to open. I have no problems opening any one of the files and then exiting excel.
The problem is when I 'close' a file, but don't exit Excel; then try to open another file(clicking link on form)... it creates a new instance of Excel.
I know from experimenting that the fileopendialog form will 'reuse' an existing Excel instance, IF it does not already have a file open.
How can I do the same thing without using the fileopendialog?
I don't want the end-user to have access to the folders where these files live. That's why I have multiple 'links' on my form, one for each xls that already exists. I just want them to be able to click on a link and the xls file opens AND if they choose to merely 'close' a file and not exit... Don't create a new instance of Excel, but re-use the existing one.
My requirement is to graph (scatter graph) data from 2 arrays. I can now connect the data from the array and use it on the chart. My question is, how do I set the graph's X- and Y- axes to show consistency in their intervals?
How do I dynamically add or remove a chart series on a WinForm. To date all my MS Charting experience has been dealing with ASP.Net charts with static sql select statment to a SQL Database. In the new project that I have been assigned I have different cities with different amounts of points that they want monitored. One city might have 3 an another might have 5 or 7 so I can't hard code the amount of series that I need. It needs to be set up so the amount of series can be flexible depending on the city selected and then display those points on the chart.
I am using microsoft chart controls in VB.net. The graph data currently comes from my database, but all the series and chart formats were made before runtime. I want to know how to make charts on runtime, being able to select the x axis from my dataset and multiple y columns from my dataset.
I can not figure out how to get the chart to display the labels. When I try and add labels, the lines get messed up. Also, if I try and do multiple lines it does not always work out very well. I tried different ColumnLabels and they behave very strange as well. What I want is to be able to have several lines. Each with their own label. And also, I want to specify text for each point at the very bottom of the graph. Let me know what suggestions you have. [Code]
i wish to create line chart, pie chart and bar chart using vb.net of visual studio 2005.Second question is i wish to copy a few data into datagridview from microsoft office tools such as access or excel using shortcut key 'ctrl+C' and 'ctrl+V'.code to do the 2 functions above without installing additional tools?
I'm having problem with MS Chart chart type column. If there are only 9 bar in the chart like the following picture, then the axis-x label show up properly.
However, there are more than 9 bars bar the chart, the axis-x label wont show up properly, some of them just dissappear.
I don't know it works with only 9 bars? Is there any way to make the chart work properly? Also, if possible, how to make each bar have different color.
I have the smallest dataset in the world that simply consists of a month (text) and and amount. I want to produce a chart showing the month along the y-axis and the value up the x-axis. How do I do it? I have dragged the chart control onto the report page and populated the dataset. The chart shows but nothing like what I would expect. Just to make it simple I populated the dataset with an amount equivalent to the month number so it should show as 1 in January, 2 in Feb etc...However no matter where I drag the dataset's column names I don't get what I want. Where am I going wrong?
I use this simple loop to populate the dataset:
dsSales.Tables("Sales").Clear()
For i As Integer = 1 To 12 dsSales.Tables("Sales").Rows.Add(MonthName(i), i) Next
I have following instance of System.Collections.Specialized.NameValueCollection:
Dim UserSelection As New System.Collections.Specialized.NameValueCollection UserSelection.Add("D_Color1", "Black") UserSelection.Add("D_Color2", "Green") UserSelection.Add("D_Color3", "Purple")
I need to save this instance to hard disk and then load it back from hard disk as an instance. How do I do that?
D is a dictionary whose entry values are of Type T..What I'm attempting to do is have a delegate like "Serializer" below that I can invoke on an instance of T, such as "Entry.Value" below.Please see the "return Entry..." line below for my wishful thinking.[code]
I am looking for a way to make my app running in a single instance mode and showing the MainWindow of the first instance when another instance is launched.I do a quick search on the internet but I did'nt find anything to open the MainWindow of the first instance or it was for Windows Form not for WPF.
