How To Paste Data From Clipboard Into Any Active Window
Jul 5, 2011
I have set data into clipboard and I have assigned it some hot key e.g. ctrl+alt+d now I want is while the my application created in vb is running whenever I press the hotkeys my program will put the data into that active window by getting it from the clipboard.
Im want to use the right mouse click to copy and paste the data in text boxes to a clipboard. Ive tried looking for examples of this but couldnt find any.
I have a webbrowser control which I have created a contextmenu for. I have added a paste button and do docbrowser.body.inner.body = clipboard.gettext. The problem with this is when I copy text from a word document and paste it I loose all the formatting. If I remove my context menu and use the default and paste I keep my formatting.
I am trying to copy/paste a structure to the clipboard the copy appears to work but the paste errors with "COMException crossed a native/managed boundary ErrorCode = -2147467259".The error occurs on the highlighted code line below. Is it possible to put a structure on the clipboard?

I have to automate a program that is outside of my control. The way I'm doing this is to use SendKeys.SendWait("keys") to the other program. The problem is, there are multiple fields that might be active and no way to select a single one with confidence. The fields are all different lengths, so my solution is to copy something really long, copy it to the clipboard, and look at the last character that made it though, so I know which field is selected in the other program. This overrides the clipboard, unfortunately.
How I can Paste from Clipboard a file to my path? I work in VB .NET. I got filename from clipboard but don't know how to extract file from cliboard and save it to my folder.
Dim data As IDataObject = Clipboard.GetDataObject() If data.GetDataPresent(DataFormats.FileDrop) Then Dim files As String() = data.GetData(DataFormats.FileDrop) End If
I want to paste a file from the clipboard that has been copied from a compress folder using VB.net. By examining the clipboard, I see there is a FileGroupDescriptorW which seems to contain some information about the file. But I have not found how to use the information to grab the file and paste it.
I want to include the clipboard from the menu strip of my MDI form, ie Cntrl/C and Cntrl/V. I need a more generic clipboard facility than the examples provided. I want to be able to copy from external programs, like Word, or controls within my program to either a Textbox, RichTextBox or whatever, of which there may be several, on a child form. In VB6 this was so simple, but I'm afraid it is proving frustrating, to say the least, in Visual Studio 2008. I have succeeded in getting data onto the clipboard from an external program, but my problem comes when trying to determine the active control on the child form to where I want to paste the data, so I know how to handle it.
Im creating a simple app that has no need for a gui. I need to allow pasting into the console window by any means. Context window like command prompt or just ctrl + v
i am trying to implement a very simple program, that simply copies some text from one window in to an appropriate text box field in the other window. I need to copy and paste about 50 pieces of information from one window in to another.I suppose i can load the entire SOURCE window's text in to a text box control, and then i want to use sendkeys to populate appropriate fields in the other DESTINATION window that i want to populate with this information. My guess is that i will need some kind of windows api (Win XP) to get a handle on the appropriate text boxes in the destination window (or tab through it or something)
I have a dialog box that pops up from a webbrowser window when i invoke click.I have copied a filepath to the clipboard but does anyone know how i can do a ctrl + v to paste the text into the dialog filename window.
im using VB 2008 is it possible to get active window name or id? for example i have active notepad window, now how i can get it's process name or process ?id(better is process id)
How to check if a window is active? My case is: I have a program which runs in maxmize mode, allways on top, with no option to close and then i run another program which will normally run behind my program, but i want to enter ok or something to that program when i press a button in my program. So i think first i will have to verify if that program is active then i need to send a key (enter) in order for it to continue running while my program is visible to user.
Is there a way I can take a screenshot of a window that is not the active window? I want to give the user his current open windows and he select one of them as the target window for the SS, my target is to let him work on one window while my application will take ss of not active window.. what is the best way to accomplish that ?
How do I move the active window. I want to be able to set its locations, size, and even close it if possible.I ant to move any active window not just my active window
I'm creating an OLD-DB database query tool and in the process of programing the new connection dialogue box.
Creating a new OLE-DB connection requires you to create a .udl file and execute it. After execution a dialogue box will pop up letting you create a connection. The issue is that the default TAB that is selected isn't the one I need.[code]...
i am making a windows application using visual studio 2008. there are many forms in it and at a time more than one form may be open in the application. i want that at such a time, only the currently active window is shown in the taskbar instead of the taskbar becoming full of different windows for the same application.
I need to create a form where AlwaysOnTop = True when the browser is visible. This creates some sort over "overlay". The logic works like this:
The program checks which window is active. If the active windows is a certain process, my form will initialize the TopMost utility, and be the active window itself. When the certain process is not the active window anymore, my form will disappear.
[Code]...
My program checks if a browser is the active window, if so: the form gets topmost and the program stops checking what the active window is. (because my topmost form is the active window now). Now the program needs to check what the window under my form is, the second active window. If it's not the browser anymore, the form needs to hide, and the program will check what the active window is again.
I already completed the function that checks what the first active window is, I'm stuck on getting the function that checks what the second active window is.
I'm making a game that makes use of Control.MouseButtons and GetActiveWindow() like so:
Private Declare Auto Function GetActiveWindow Lib "user32.dll" () As IntPtr Public Sub GetMouseState(ByRef x As Integer, ByRef y As Integer, ByRef lButton As Boolean) Dim p As Point = Parent.PointToClient(Windows.Forms.Cursor.Position) x = p.X
[code]....
Does GetActiveWindow() not return the correct value only when my game is running?
I'm trying to be able to get the caption of the currently active window. I've figured out that I should be using GetForegroundWindow, but when I use it I'm just getting a long string of numbers, which I think is the handle. How do I go from that to the actual caption?
Is there an easy way to find out what the active window is within the .NET framework?
I have seen a few methods via google using API calls, but I thought that was what .NET was supposed to eliminate, by giving the programmer a way to get access to everything within the framework?
