Dec 10, 2009I'm trying to get started with a simple audio application under .NET 3.5 (preferably in VB.NET, but will happily use C#). What I'd like to do is: Continuously record audio from (the default) Windows audio input device in 8-bits-per-sample PCM format For every N bytes captured, do some analysis on the raw audio (some RMS and/or SPL calculations -- basically what you'd need for a pretty VU bar graph thingy) If the audio fragment is found interesting after analysis, save it using a compressed file format (e.g. MP3)

How To Record Stereo Audio
Apr 11, 2012I've hit a snag in sound recording. It's some years now since I last messed around with the win32 mciAPI. But I'd thought I'd give it a go from vb.net - but it only 'partially' works with vb.net The code below (in vb6) used to let me record audio in glorious stereo at CD quality.But the following code now only let's me record in crappy 11025 hz mono at 88 kbps Somethings changed in Windows or how vb talks to the mciAPI grrrrrrrrrrrrr. I really, really hate MS - they're evil. can I record in stereo (at CD quality) using vb.net - I've spent two days trying to get the mciAPI to work ok and no joy.

How would I access a specific record and put it into a variable to compare against user input?I have a table CASHIERS and part of that table is a BadgeID and a PIN number. What I want to do is when a cashier swipes there badge to logon to a POS.. it searches the DB to see if the cashier exists. Then, once it establishes that they do exist, it pulls their PIN # and prompts them to enter it. It compares the data retrieved from the DB to the data that they entered.

I am going to show you my code so that you can understand it. I have a report & a form where I have one text box one button & one crystal report viewer. I have imported all fields by using report wizard. Even I have created parameter(name) there. So that user can get specific record by typing it there in the text box. However here is my code for button1:

It means it will not show student`s ID & name again & again. On the top of the report it will show student`s ID & name for once & depending on ID it will show student`s mark on report. I guess I have to use something like that Select * from result where text1.text = name of the parameter. But problem is that I cant use same command there in formula workshop.

VS 2010 - Search Dataset For Specific Record
Aug 1, 2011My application will start (dataset filtered by username/date) and if it's the first time the user has used it today it will be a blank entry form because there is no record for today created. The user can just type data into the blank form and close it. On the form closing event I want it to run a tableadapter.insert(username, date, x,x,x).
If it starts a second time it will load showing today's entry because today's date was inserted previously when they closed the form. So this time when they close the form I want the form closing event to just run a tableadapter.updateall(dataset) command. I need some help with my form closing event...

May 20, 2009I have a database application developed around Access with VBA,I have used the Speech SDK and developed an application that in conjunction with MSCOMM 6.0 library calls into a remote IVR system.It sends in the credentials and queries information in response to that IVR's verbal requests. All seems successfull except for one problem;I'm using a shared SR engine and its using the system microphone as its audio input, this in turn gets the sound from the speakers which are routed to the telephone line through the modem. Of course this has a number of disadvantages - noise added to the sound from the environment and sound quality degredation as well as speaker volume dependency.
I would like the SR engine to take its audio input from the modem in paralell with the sound that goes to the speakers (so we can listen in to the call as well). This means that I must route the system audio output to the SR engine audio input. It seems that I must use an InProc SR instance - however in VBA that type is not recognized - since the shared SR uses the microphone as input by default. there is some statement to the effect that it is difficult in Microsoft's Help file. I'm unable to set the SR audio input to the modem output stream in VBA.As needed I can accomplish the C++ interface using an ActiveX object or a DLL to expose the missing API to VBA?
