Question: How to upload a file using <identity impersonate="true" /> and <authentication mode="Forms" />
Problem: I am using the following code snippet to upload files ...it works just fine when i use <identity impersonate="true" /> and <authentication mode="Windows" /> but as soon as i change <authentication mode="Windows" /> to <authentication mode="Forms" /> i get an access denied error..how do i fix this problem??
I need to use <authentication mode="Forms" /> for my registration and login system to work.Hope you guys got my point.
I have a TableAdapter created where one column.identity is set to true with an autoincrement.My problem arise when trying to insert a row at run-time. The following is my code and the error message I am trying to over come.[code]"The column cannot be modified. [ Column name = RecordNumber ]" I am not trying to edit that column name. I set it to true identity so I don't have to keep track of record numbers that may be deleted later on. I'm running an FTP Server using Golder FTP Server, which is freeware. I think it's setup correctly because connecting to the FTP Server using the exact same string as above using Windows Explorer works great.

I replaced real credentials with myUserName, myDomain, and myPassword for the post.
The web server is a Windows 2008 server running IIS 7. I'm not a server guy, so I don't know where to being the troubleshooting process. Is the issue with the code or server side?
I did a search first - so if I missed it just let me know. I want to run an application using windows scheduler and use a certain username and password. The application will then call a web service. I need the wed service to run as the username and password used to run the application. Then I need to perfrom a DB connection with the same username and password.
I have looked at impersonation but not getting it all the way.
I've read alot where users have disabled the UAC or tried to set the level higher in the manifest file. My application uses a control that requires admin user rights and I'm trying not to have it prompt the user each time. I read more about using the Impersonate another user in Windows for vb.net. Would using the impersonate user method not prompt for admin and give the user admin rights as long as it has the username and password? I hate to disable the UAC - not good at all!

I have a .net asp app that updates a SP form. I am using the Client object model. Currently when inserting a record the record is inserted using the App pool ID. Is it possible to somehow set the context to use the ID of the person logged into the webapp or a custom ID separate from the default. However a FileNotFoundException exception is thrown during File.Copy even though its wrapped in a If File.Exists ... End If to check its existance.
The great thing is if you run this through the debugger it nearly always works, when released as an app it almost never works.
I want to have a text file perhaps a ini file where I want to set a value to either True or False so a boolean. How can I do something like this. I want it to be a in text file so I can change. If it's in settings I'll need to change each users settings I want each user's application to read this text file.

There is a problem with URI that I give, it says "Expression does not produce a value" on line 3. where "uriString" used. When I used myWebClient.UploadFile(String,String) it freeze on sending, so I found out, that to continue code execution I have to use "UploadFileAsync", but it does not provide [String,String], but it requires [Uri,String]. I've come across a problem with my program; I'm using MS Visual Studio 2010 with a VB.net application. I'm uploading a log file with .log ext to my server after my program is done running. I have noticed a lot of systems fail to upload the log file because of the firewall settings of their modem. I was wondering if anyone would know a workaround to uploading this file maybe on port 80. Here is the code I use to upload the file.
Like I said this works fine if the Modem firewall in on low, but fails everytime if modem firewall is in the default setting. I believe it's using port 21 right now to upload.

This does exactly that and the "True" in the above string shows a progressbar in its own window. I would like for that progressbar to display on the same form as the rest of controls are. And not in it's own window. Is there a way of doing just that?
