I've been asked to add in some functionality to an existing project.On the main form is an unbound DataGridView. I've been asked to add in a column for a date. Easy enough to add in the column, however I would like to make it easier on the users & have a date picker in the column instead of having it as a free text field & then have to apply constraints to ensure I get the date in the correct format.I've not been able to find anything on this in the usual places & am hoping someone on the forum might have some ideas I could try ?

I am using vb.net express version. I have a datagridview which is popuated with data from an access database. I have all the data side working ok with the "Call Date" column set as datetime and sorted in date order assending within my application. I also have a monthviewcalender on the form and wish to filter the datagridview by the date selected in the monthviewcalender to show appointments i may have on that date.I have tried to populate the selected date into a textbox and use the following to filter:
AppointmentsBindingSource.Filter = String.Format("[Call Date] Like '" & TextBoxDate.Text) & "*'"
This causes a error. I have tried many different variants like:
AppointmentsBindingSource.Filter = ("[Call Date] Like '" & MonthCalendar1.SelectionRange.Start) & "*'"
The column is set as datetime in access and is system.datetime in the database explorers properties.

In several of my apps I have Build Date shown in the Help -> About screen, just so that people can see how recent the version of the app they are using is. I just manually set the text of this label to the current date whenever I compile a new version of the app, but on more than one occasion I have forgotten... so I'm wondering if there is any way I can automate this?So just to clarify - I do not want today's date (as in the date that the program is being run on), I want to get the date that the program was compiled (either at runtime or compile time, just as long as I dont have to manually enter it)

However i have tried the following and i get no output at all.

I am making a small bill manager program. I have setup a listview and I am using access db. Things are working great and when I pay a bill it enters in the database perfect, but when it is shown in the listview it shows the date plus the time. Why does it show correct in the database and not in the listview? I tried using .ToShortDateString instead .ToString but then it just tells me it doesn't like late binding.

I never thought it would be so complicated to add a few days to a date field as an expression lol...
I have a [addDate] field in my Access Database that the user will put in a number. So if they type 10 then that represents 10 days.
There is preferably a textbox that will display the starting date, this will be bound to another table. (I can make another field with this data, or date/time chooser, etc if necessary).
What I want to do is add a calculated field [newDate] to my datagridview that will add the number of days typed in the [addDate] field to the starting date in the textbox.
I've tried making fields for [originalDate] and [addDate] and tried using [originalDate] + [addDate] as an expression but that give me a debug crash error because the designer won't let me add a system.datetime to anything and if I keep them as strings, they just combine the text, and the date as a double obviously don't work either.

I'm using a MaskedTextBox, named txtDOB, into which the user types a date (the mask property is "00/00/0000"). This value is then stored in an array
Dim NewStudentFields(37) As Object
NewStudentFields(4) = txtDOB.Text
And the array is passed to a subroutine which uses the data to put into a new table row.
Some of the code from this sub:
da.InsertCommand = New OleDbCommand("INSERT INTO tblStudentInfo (FullName, FirstName, LastName, Gender, DateOfBirth, etc.etc.) VALUES (@FullName, @FirstName, @LastName, @Gender, @DateOfBirth)")
da.InsertCommand.Parameters.Add("@DateOfBirth", OleDbType.DBDate, "DateOfBirth")
If NewStudentFields(4) <> " / /" Then
dsNewRow.Item("DateOfBirth") = DateTime.Parse(NewStudentFields(4))
Else
IsDBNull(dsNewRow.Item("DateOfBirth") = True)
End If
The code executes as far as the red line which triggers the error message "Conversion from string "DateOfBirth" to type 'Integer' is not valid." There's probably something wrong with the final "If...End if", too!

I am trying to convert text in a text box (txtEventDate.Text) to a date type in a structure: ThisEvent.EventDate (declared as date). The text in the textbox is of the form: 05/18/1927 (i.e. May 18th, 1927) and after looking long and hard thru the forums attempting several different things, like:
'ThisEvent.EventDate = CDate(Format("#" & txtEventDate.Text & "#", "mm/dd/yyyy"))
'ThisEvent.EventDate = Date.Parse(txtEventDate.Text & "12:01:00 AM")
'Date.TryParse(txtEventDate.Text, ThisEvent.EventDate)
The code is commented out because none of them convert the string to a date value (I know a date does not have a format and I have looked thru the MSDN). How can I stay logged and composing a thread past some arbitrary time limit that forces a re-login?

could anybody point me in the right direction in regards to the following problem? I have some data that has time and date in form of ordinary string. The format is always the same, for instance:
[Code]...
How can I convert it to time understood by computer and check if given time is in the past of in the future in comparsion to current time on my computer? I would also like to be able to tell how much difference there is between the time from my data file and the current time. For instance to say "this time was 3 hours and 20 mintues ago".
