i'm new to <acronym title="Visual Basic">vb</acronym>.net. i'm using visual studio 2005 windows application <acronym title="Visual Basic">vb</acronym>.net language. i'm doing a company project and using MS access database.i want the user to add data about the new customer and save it to the database.i used the followinf code:

I failed to get any interest/response with this question on the VBExpress forum. Surely most of you have to write help documents to go along with your programs. I have used HTML Help files for years to support my programs and before that WinHelp but in 2002 MS indicated time change to Microsoft Assistance Markup Language (MAML). I am a little behind. Google hits for the acronym or full title are minimal. What are you guys using today?

So I'm trying to create an acronym generator. I am going to have a text box that you put text into, and then an acronym will be created based on the words inputed when you click a button. Basically, the acronym will depend on capital letters and spaces. So if I input "University of Tennessee", the resulting acronym should be "UT". Since the "of" is not capitalized, it is not used as a letter in the acronym. And if the input is "I LOVE YOU" the acronym will be "ILY", so only the capital letters following spaces are taken into account..

When I select an area of text in Visual Basic Express 2010 and then go click Edit/Outlining/Hide Selection; the area collapses and is represented by three dots like "...". Is there a way to put my own title, description or label on it for better meaning and communication?

I have below Visual Basic 2010 code to draw a chart using Excel then export to picture. I am not able to create the seondary value axis. i keep getting error "failed to call COM component". The problem is coming from the bolded section. However, why i remove it the chart comes with secondary axis but problem i need to set an axis title which i am not able to do so. what is the correct way to create a secondary axis and title in Excel.Interop?

I've been hired at a company to fix some bugs and make some improvements to their in house programs. The program I am currently working has been written in Visual Studio 2005, in Visual Basic specifically. The program is used to connect to a database on a server and provide various information. However, I have run into a snag where the program will refuse to connect to the database when it using a user account and password that has been set up on the database. When I look at the logs i see it is giving the error as stated above, however, I have double and triple checked the password both on the database and the one hardcoded into the program and they are identical yet it still logs that there is a password mismatch. Has anyone run into this problem or figured out a solution towards fixing it, I will be much obliged.

History:1. Could not open visual basic 6.0. I got the an error that the DAO350.DLL could not be found.
2. So following some suggestions from the web:a) Renamed old DAO350.DLL as DAO350.DLLOLDb) I took this file from Visual Studio Disk 1 and copied it into the C:Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft SharedDAOc) Regsvr32 "C:Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft SharedDAODAO350.DLL"d) Then I got a successful message that it registerede) It did not work. When I tried to open the visual basic 6.0 now I get:"Unexpected error; quitting" message.
I even loaded the component checker 2.0 as suggest via microsoft website to look up the Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC). (see Article ID: 304230 and 301202 on [URL]..It says MDAC 2.8 SP1 ON WINDOWS XP SP2. I am not sure what this MDAC does for me, but I looked at it anyways.

In a while loop, I am writing a progressively increasing integer value (between 0 and 100) to the Value attribute of a ProgressBar control, when it disappears from the window in which it resides. I have verified at the time that it disappears that the Min is 0, Max is 100, and Value is a valid integer in range.

Does anybody know which version of Visual Studio 2010 contains the full set of Visual Basic SharePoint Templates? I am about to embark on a project to create Visual Web Parts to be used in a SharePoint report.
At the moment I am using Visual Studio 2008 and even though the WSPBuilder is installed none of the relevant SharePoint templates are present.Having searched SO and the web, most advise to install the templates via the Visual Studio command prompt: devenv /installvstemplates
Alas the Visual Studio command prompt is also missing from my VS2008 installation.So, the question remains: which version of VS2010 contains what I need for pain-free SharePoint development? There is a rather large price different between VS2010 Professional and VS2010 Premium, so can anyone tell me if the cheaper version (VS2010 Professional) contains all the Sharepoint templates?

How do I disable the background compiler for Visual Basic in Visual Studio 2008?
For my sins, I have to work on a large VB.NET project and it often locks up for 20 seconds at a time whilst doing the very helpful background compilation
I'd rather work blind between compiles and be able to do some work.

I am just wondering how I can add Direct X references to Visual Basic in Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2. I cant find them in the .NET reference list, or the reference list, or anywhere. I downloaded the Direct X SDK for August 2009, but I can not add the .dll files to the reference list. Is there anything I can do to add them? I need the references for programming reasons.

when the user clicks on the add button another form launches, which enables the user to add student info such as name, address, course, start date and end date, this information is then written to class when the ok button on that form is clicked, and then displays the data on the initial form in data grid. the user can add multiple entries and they are all displayed on the intial form and a the data grid is populatedwhen any of the rows in the displayed grid is selected, and the update button is clicked then the same form launches as the previous one and but this time its in the update mode and pre populates the form with the inital values.

I am very new to Visual Studio Application Development. I'm mostly a DB guy. I used Visual Studio as a Report Designer, not much of an .Net guy though I can understand it. I am now asked to create a .net application and I'm trying to create a "Hello World" starter app. I opened my Visual Studio, click File-New Project and all I see is Business Intelligence Projects and Other Project Types. My step-by-step guide says choose Visual Basic, Windows Forms Application. But I can't see it as an option.
