I have a VB 2008 application that connects to a MySQL database via ODBC using the MySQL ODBC 5.1 Driver. Works fine on XP Pro and Vista Business (both 32 bit), but on my new Vista Business 64 Bit, I get the following error when trying to connect:
[Code]...
I can test the ODBC driver from Data Sources and it works just fine. Here is my DSN:
I'm connecting to my mysql server using ODBC in vb.net, the database is shared throughout the company because it is used in an accounting program (simply accounting), each user has their own account user/pass to login to the database. I have developped a program that uses the accounting database and combines it with other information, my problem is that at least once a day I get this error when I run my program: "(10061) ERROR [HY000] [MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver]Can't connect to MySQL server on"and the error persists for at least 4 hours, for some reason it starts to work again later on in the day.
I recently got a new computer with vista. I was working on a Visual Basic project on my old computer, which had xp, and transferred that project to my new computer. A lot of the time, however, when I try to work on my project on my new computer, an error message pops up and says Visual Basic is not responding and then Visual Basic shuts down. Sometimes if I restart Visual Basic it works ok, but most of the time, the same error message occurs. This doesn't allow me to work on my project when I want to. I have checked to see that my Visual Basic is all up to date and it is. Does this have to do with Vista?
I am currently rewriting an Access application to VB. The database was already MySQL 5 with the Access application - solely used for the forms and reports. In access the MySQL database is accessed though ODBC, in VB via a .NET connector.
The problem is the following:
In the MySQL DB I have a trigger to create a UUID (or a GUID if you prefer) as a "Before Insert" trigger. With Access, the record creation works fine, and the UUID is created flawlessly. With VB, the record creation is stopped by VB when trying to insert/save the record - saying the DB requires the field UUID not to be null. Although this is right (it is mandatory in the record creation in the DB), it obviously does not take into account the MySQL trigger (and how could it?).How do you get rid of the validation for this field?
I am making a invoice system in Visual Basic 2010 and i am stuck here Here is my code
Private Sub btnDelete_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnDelete.Click For Each row As DataGridViewRow In datagrid.SelectedRows Dim selectedindex As String = datagrid.CurrentRow.Cells(0).Value.ToString() datagrid.Rows.Remove(row)
[Code]...
This code is not working well please have a look to my invoice screen shot and suggest me a better code
When i try to delete the selected row the code does not work and if any one can tell me i can delete multiple selected rows? they are deleted from the datagrid but not from database
whilst trying to debug a sample program, get error code bc 32400. Also error code Class 'CLSID_CorSymWriter' could not be created system error &H80040154&
I have a project where I added visually and successfully a datasource of MySql. I binded a datagridview with a table.
But, how do I change programatically the password, ip or user to connect with the MySql server? Because it can change at any time, so I can let the user change these values.
ok im making a program where i add exe files to my project like the trial install of photoshop and all the adobe projects. So wot i want to do now is add a code in so when i push the button install adobe photoshop fire works ect it will im useing this code here to do that

I have been using the internet to figure out how to INSERT into MySQL database. Im almost there I can feel it. Below is the code I put together, but when I click on the button and check the database to see if the data was inserted, it has not.
Imports System.Data.Odbc Imports System Public Class Form1
When I try to print my record using ReportViewer.exe error that given is - "The Array s Fixed or Temporarily Locked (Run Time error When I debug through the code error is - "Method 'AddRows of object 'ICrystalDataObject' failed"

We have a Visual Basic Compilation Error at the web site located at [URL] Description: An error occurred during the compilation of a resource required to service this request. Please review the following specific error details and modify your source code appropriately.
I've been hired at a company to fix some bugs and make some improvements to their in house programs. The program I am currently working has been written in Visual Studio 2005, in Visual Basic specifically. The program is used to connect to a database on a server and provide various information. However, I have run into a snag where the program will refuse to connect to the database when it using a user account and password that has been set up on the database. When I look at the logs i see it is giving the error as stated above, however, I have double and triple checked the password both on the database and the one hardcoded into the program and they are identical yet it still logs that there is a password mismatch. Has anyone run into this problem or figured out a solution towards fixing it, I will be much obliged.
I'm developing a small project (just for learning, I'm not a pro) which involves creating software which could be used by a store owner for invoice generation. It involves storing all the store's products in a MySQL 5.5 database. Visual Studio 2008 is used for front end (Project was started in VS2005, later converted). MySQL ODBC Driver 5.1 is used for connection purposes. I'm still a student and haven't been able to learn .NET yet. So, I used the following link to connect the Database and the interface. I'm able to obtain all the data from the database like 'Product Name', 'Price' etc on the VB's forms through labels.
Now, for the purpose of invoice generation, the data in the labels i.e, 'Product Name' and 'Price' should be added to another table named 'Cart' whenever a button named 'Add to Cart' is pressed. How can I implement it? I mean, could anyone provide me with a code snippet that fetches the data being displayed in the labels and adds it to another table through 'INSERT' statement? P.S Basically what I need is a code snippet in VB that lets me execute an SQL query(any one like INSERT or SELECT or UPDATE) when a button is pressed in a form.
I've downloaded the ODBC driver and the MySQL driver and installed them on my system (Win XP SP3). However, the only data sources that are showing up when I try to add a data connection are Access & 2 SQL Server objects. Is there something else that needs to be setup in order for Visual Studio to allow additional data sources? I'm currently running VS 2010 Express.
Whether I am using VB 2008 Express or VS 2010 Beta 1 Visual Basic, I get the same error: "Debugging information for 'EXCEL.EXE" cannot be found or does not match. Cannot find or open the PDB file" I have filled in the Debug Tab information: Start external program: C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice12Excel.exe
I did a web search already at some sites including Microsoft, but I have not found a soultion yet.Problem: CANNOT OPEN VISUAL BASIC 6.0; Says "Unexpected error; quitting"Machine/Software: OS: XP Media Center (although system info says XP Professional 5.1.2600 Service Pack2 Build 2600)PC: Acer AspireE36SW:Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 Enterprise Edition
History:1. Could not open visual basic 6.0. I got the an error that the DAO350.DLL could not be found.
2. So following some suggestions from the web:a) Renamed old DAO350.DLL as DAO350.DLLOLDb) I took this file from Visual Studio Disk 1 and copied it into the C:Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft SharedDAOc) Regsvr32 "C:Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft SharedDAODAO350.DLL"d) Then I got a successful message that it registerede) It did not work. When I tried to open the visual basic 6.0 now I get:"Unexpected error; quitting" message.
I even loaded the component checker 2.0 as suggest via microsoft website to look up the Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC). (see Article ID: 304230 and 301202 on [URL]..It says MDAC 2.8 SP1 ON WINDOWS XP SP2. I am not sure what this MDAC does for me, but I looked at it anyways.
