I'm connecting to my mysql server using ODBC in vb.net, the database is shared throughout the company because it is used in an accounting program (simply accounting), each user has their own account user/pass to login to the database. I have developped a program that uses the accounting database and combines it with other information, my problem is that at least once a day I get this error when I run my program: "(10061) ERROR [HY000] [MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver]Can't connect to MySQL server on"and the error persists for at least 4 hours, for some reason it starts to work again later on in the day.
I'm receiving this error from the ODBC SQL Driver as mentioned :- ERROR [07002] [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]COUNT field incorrect or syntax error.
I currently connect to a MySQL database using the ODBC MySQL 5.1 Connector, how would I be able to detect if the driver is installed before a connection attempt?
I'm using the Microsoft Excel Driver to import an Excel document into a adodb.recordset so that I can remove duplicate rows and put it into the SQL Server database.
The first column has values like 192, 13U, JJJ, etc. but for some reason the query casts it as a double value, and any rows with alpha values get converted to Null. From what I can tell this is because the Majority type is numeric instead of text.
I tried casting it, but got an error.
Here's my function:
Function Read_Excel(ByVal sFile As String) As ADODB.Recordset On Error GoTo fix_err Dim rs As ADODB.Recordset
I have VB Application and VB dll. I am retrieving the data using MS ODBC and through VB application and passing it to VB dll. Dll is then processing the data and inserting the data into Oracle 10g database. Dll uses OraOledb driver. Now when i retrieve the data in my web-page which uses MS ODBC, it displays the data as garbled.
I have an error "ERROR [22018] [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Data type mismatch in criteria expression". I am using VBdotNet2005 and MS Access as its database, and I can't really get the hang of this error.
i want to ask what is the difference between oledb connection and odbc connection. I have a case, my office used ncomputing then i have to developed an application using sqlserver 2000 and vb.net 2005, i used oledb connection. When i try to implement it in ncomputing, why user must has admin access level and dbo level in sql server, it seems trouble when all users are admin. But there's a rumor that when using odbc connection, we dont need to give admin access level for users.es.
I'm currently doing a project that includes access 2010 My question will be what driver can I use for an access 2010 *.accdb type file? For a *.mdb it works perfectly well with
ERROR[HY000][Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]Could not find file '(unknown)'. ERROR[IM006][Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager]SQLSetConnetAttr failed ERROR[HY000][Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]Could not find file '(unknown)'
And then it shows me that my code for
If dsLogin.Tables(0).Rows.Count = 1 Then IndexOutOfRangeException was unhandled Cannot find table 0
I knew it must be the driver but I don't know what accdb driver I can use for the connstring.
I have an error ERROR [22018] [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Data type mismatch in criteria expression. and I've been trying to solve this but unfortunately I couldn't get the hack of this error. I'm a newbie in dotNet.
Public Sub LogInContinue(ByVal senter As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Dim LibDS As DataSet = New DataSet Dim LibDA As OdbcDataAdapter = New OdbcDataAdapter("SELECT * FROM tblUserAccount WHERE Uname='" & txtUserName.Text & "'", LibConn)
I have been using the internet to figure out how to INSERT into MySQL database. Im almost there I can feel it. Below is the code I put together, but when I click on the button and check the database to see if the data was inserted, it has not.
Imports System.Data.Odbc Imports System Public Class Form1
i have a code which has the connection string as driver. dim s as string = "Driver={SQL Server}; Server=xxxSQLEXPRESS; Database=dbRegister; Trusted_Connection=yes" i need to change that to - "data source=1.2.3.4;user id=xx;password=xxxxx;initial catalog=xxxxx;Connect Timeout=30" when i just change the text it gives this error - "[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified" how do i declare the datasource?

I'm developing a small project (just for learning, I'm not a pro) which involves creating software which could be used by a store owner for invoice generation. It involves storing all the store's products in a MySQL 5.5 database. Visual Studio 2008 is used for front end (Project was started in VS2005, later converted). MySQL ODBC Driver 5.1 is used for connection purposes. I'm still a student and haven't been able to learn .NET yet. So, I used the following link to connect the Database and the interface. I'm able to obtain all the data from the database like 'Product Name', 'Price' etc on the VB's forms through labels.
Now, for the purpose of invoice generation, the data in the labels i.e, 'Product Name' and 'Price' should be added to another table named 'Cart' whenever a button named 'Add to Cart' is pressed. How can I implement it? I mean, could anyone provide me with a code snippet that fetches the data being displayed in the labels and adds it to another table through 'INSERT' statement? P.S Basically what I need is a code snippet in VB that lets me execute an SQL query(any one like INSERT or SELECT or UPDATE) when a button is pressed in a form.
I've downloaded the ODBC driver and the MySQL driver and installed them on my system (Win XP SP3). However, the only data sources that are showing up when I try to add a data connection are Access & 2 SQL Server objects. Is there something else that needs to be setup in order for Visual Studio to allow additional data sources? I'm currently running VS 2010 Express.
I have a VB 2008 application that connects to a MySQL database via ODBC using the MySQL ODBC 5.1 Driver. Works fine on XP Pro and Vista Business (both 32 bit), but on my new Vista Business 64 Bit, I get the following error when trying to connect:
[Code]...
I can test the ODBC driver from Data Sources and it works just fine. Here is my DSN:
I'm trying to connect to a database and keep the connection open for any amount of user activity/queries within the database. Currently I have a connection that opens and closes for any query (save, update, etc...) which requires the logon process to the back-end every time the user saves etc... Is there a way to simply connect and leave the connection open so there won't be a lag time when running the query due to the logon process? This is what I'm using:
I am trying to coonect to Oracle 10g database through ASP using ODBC connection. The connection string used is con.Open "DRIVER={Microsoft ODBC for Oracle};SERVER=xxxx;UID=xxxxx;PWD=xxxxx".
This works when I tried creating a macro and also using a vbs script. When run through classic ASP it gives error on the connection.open line.
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'. [Microsoft][ODBC driver for Oracle][Oracle]Error while trying to retrieve text for error ORA-12154 /TestSC/a.asp, line 23
The connection is opened when using Ora oledb con.Open "Provider=OraOLEDB.ORACLE;Data Source=xxxx;User Id=xxxx;Password=xxxx". I am using IIS 6.0 and Oracle 10g.
I need to update a database table from a dataset and only have access to the database through an odbc connection. Is there anyway to make this work or do I need to go a different direction to do this ?
with odbc connection in vb.net example i have add button on my database and i want that what ive added will be added on the database with odbc connection.i know how in oledb but im really confuse with odbc
I have an excel with 10 sheets, each sheet has a connection stored in it because i am using the ms query to read data from access database. when I code the below, both line are accepted by vb.net (with new or without)
Dim wb1 As Excel.Workbook Dim wb2 As New Excel.Workbook
Now when I code
Dim wb_cnn1 As Excel.ODBCConnection ' Works Fine Dim wb_cnn2 As new Excel.ODBCConnection ' Error 'New' cannot be used on an interface.
Q1: Why I cannot create New Excel.ODBCConnection? I have this
Dim xlsApp As New Excel.Application Dim wb_cnn As Excel.ODBCConnection Dim wb As Excel.Workbook
[code]....
Maybe because it is read only. I want that because the ms query is hardcoding the path of the access db even if i choose DSN so, if I change the location of the access file the query in the excel will not work, Q2: How I can change the connection in the Excel sheet?
I'm trying to create an ODBC in the registry using VB.NET. I had found some code on the internet(link below) to do perform this function in VB6, but have been unable to find a way in VB.NET.
I tried to make my ODBC Connection within the class. here's my class code
Public Class Library Public Function Seek(ByVal Connection As Odbc.OdbcConnection, ByVal TableName As String, ByVal Field As String, ByVal Index As Long)
[Code]....
Here's my error: Unable to cast object of type 'System.Int32' to type 'System.Data.DataSet'. I am using VBdotNet2005
